Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Moncada is on pace for a 5 fWAR season. What are you smoking?

Trade an asset
Rodon is not getting dealt. Also, why would the Diamondbacks want him when they are years away from contending again?

Also a no from me on Blackmon. He is declining and owed a pile of money moving forward.

Adam Engel Back to the IL - Hamstring
The injuries have gotten out of control this year. At what point do we seriously start to question the training staff?
-
Is it time to rebuild the rebuild?
Cleveland's schedule is absolutely brutal from July 1st to August 12th. If the Sox can tread water, we should be just fine.

Fans at opening day? Fans at Opening Day! (confirmed)
With COVID numbers continuing to heavily trend downward, we could be in a much better situation by mid April. Even more people will be vaccinated and I would expect a bump in fans by mid May assuming the trend continues.

Folty signs with Rangers
Trevor Cahill and Mike Leake could be potential minor league deal options for SP depth
-
Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
he also gets opt outs after the first two seasons and could easily search for another giant payday

Realistic expectation for Vaughn in 21
I'm confident Vaughn will hit too, I'm just not sure if it will be right away his rookie season. He has the best hit tool in the organization after Madrigal. Personally, I would send him to AAA and force him to earn a promotion.

Realistic expectation for Vaughn in 21
I think its best to keep expectations for Vaughn largely in check until he proves otherwise. Rookies almost always tend to struggle in their adjustment to the major leagues. The advanced scouting and pitching is at a completely different level even to AAA. The club really needs to bring in a guy like Brad Miller who can play a few different positions and DH a bit.

Sox resign Rodon 1 yr /3m official, Vargas DFA
I was in the "Sox must extend Lynn" camp initially, but since have opened up to the idea there might be more risk than value in an extension for a player that turns 34 years old in May. I think you squeeze what you can out of him this season and then evaluate.

Sox resign Rodon 1 yr /3m official, Vargas DFA
I agree. Rodon is far from a sexy signing, but at least he is cheap and gives us pitching depth. He could be used as a backend starter or out of the bullpen. If healthy he can be effective.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Sadly, I doubt the Sox have had much, if any, contact with Bauer and his camp. There is no chance, even on a one year deal, they shell out $30+ million right now. Would it be the ultimate win now move? Absolutely, but it just is not going to happen.

Madrigal 3000 hits "very reachable"
I'm all for confidence, but Madrigal needs to shut up and prove himself for a full season at the MLB level before even dreaming about 3,000 career hits.

Garbage dump pitchers I don't *like* like but like more than garbage
Toss in Chris Archer and Mike Leake to the scrap heap as well
-
Jerry Reinsdorf is cheap
At best TBH Lynn/Eaton/Hendriks is not enough for a club trying to win the WS

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
For what it is worth^
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Sox won't go anything beyond a one year deal + a club option with buyout. Cruz is nearly 41 years old, the wheels could fall off at any time. Father time always wins eventually.
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Twins spend roughly $122 million in 2020 and have about $97 million on the books for 2020 as of now. They still have room to spend
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Those moves would fit the budget for sure
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Twins should be heavy favorites to land Cruz, and they may have to go 2 years to get it done. They have more payroll flexibility remaining right now than the Sox, I’d estimate about $25 million.

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/jon-gray-592351?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb Yikes, Gray's baseball savant is ugly after that 2020 performance. I'd rather look elsewhere for a SP. As for trade value? Gray's has to be pretty low at this point.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Not before he proves himself in the minors first. Dude has never played organized baseball in the USA outside of the WBC a few years back.

Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
Bailey is a nice young prospect, unfortunately our system does not have much young prospect depth for us to trade from. Clearly clubs are valuing int'l signings and prep prospects over college players at the moment in trades

Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
Escotto is a legit young prospect. We don’t really have a comparable guy in our system
