Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee

When does Hahn start trading some position players? -
We live 90 miles south of the Trop and I watch just about every Rays game and pull for them except when they play the Sox. The Trop isn’t as bad as it’s been made out to be, it’s those rings that support the dome that make the place cheesy. I watch the Marlins also if the Sox or Rays aren’t playing in fact I saw the Marlins win the 1997 World Series attending the last 2 games at Pro Player Stadium as they beat the Indians in a 7 game series. If the Sox left Chicago I’d feel bad as they are my last ties to the city, the Rays would then take over as my favorite team but they could never be part of my DNA like the Sox have for 71 years.

Probably like the 68 and 69 teams but not 1970 bad. To tell the truth I’m a little shocked by how bad this team has played, I figured at worse they would be .500 again but really thought they would win the division with 86 wins. This season is like a bad nightmare.

I remember the Phillies of the late 50s and early 60s who were really bad. The old Washington Senators of the 1950s were horrible but they moved to Minnesota in 1961 and have been a thorn in the the side of the White Sox ever since. IIRC when the A’s moved to KC from Philadelphia in 1955 they never had a winning season in their time in KC, they moved to Oakland in 1968 and became damn good with 3 World Series Championships in 1973, 1974 and 1975. Just for comparison sakes, the Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee in 1952 then moved to Atlanta in 1966, they never had a losing season in Milwaukee and drew great crowds in the 50s drawing over 2 million a year for a few years which is like drawing 4 million these days but for some reason Milwaukee stopped supporting them in the 1960s. After the Sox the Braves were my second favorite team and I saw them play many times at Wrigley beating the wretched Cubs who also had some horrible teams in the 50s and up until 1967 in the 60s, for years it was Ernie Banks and 24 other guys.

Lucas Giolito Appreciation Thread
The Mighty Mite replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good luck to Lucas. One of the few Sox players who this year was busting his ass on the playing field. In a perfect scenario I’m hoping that the Sox somehow re-sign Giolito next year as a free agent. -
Giolito & Reynaldo to LAA. Update: Angels put on waivers

Francisco Mejia of the Rays is only 5’7” and I’d take him in a New York minute as a backup catcher. -

How can an ump miss a pitch by that much. -

He was told to play at an intensity level of 8 instead of 10. I wonder if anyone ever told Pete Rose to lower his intensity level. -

There are no superstars on the team, Robert would have a chance but the guy has no plate discipline whatsoever and it’s holding him back from putting up huge numbers, No doubt he’s a 5 tool player but needs work with that discipline. -
I love that story about the 17 year old Chuck Comiskey, I was always a big fan of his. I often wonder what would have happened if his sister sold her shares of the White Sox to Chuck instead of Bill Veeck. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have traded Johnny Callison, John Romano, Earl Battey and Don Mincher after the 1959 World Series. We also would have never had an exploding scoreboard either. My guess is that Chuck would have held on to the Sox probably through the mid 70s but like so many of the owners who in those days whose sole business was Baseball he wouldn’t be able to compete especially with free agency.
-
To be honest I’ve never been a fan of his from the the day the Sox brought him up and they made that ridiculous video of him as he was going to be the savior and the main cog in the rebuild. If I had Bezos, Musk or Zuckerberg money I would pay off the 35 million in a heartbeat, actually I’d just buy the White Sox.
-
Wow, didn’t know it was that much but the Sox sure aren’t getting their money’s worth.
-
Whatever the Sox owe this guy, just DFA him and eat his contract, maybe they can write it off. The least would be that we would have a young healthy guy who would play more than 33% of the time. I would bring up Sosa and stick him at second base the rest of the year and see what we have with him with Burger going back to third base where he belongs.

Even though I was in Vietnam in 1968 I remember Wilhelm breaking the record because the story and a picture made the front page of the AFVN edition of the Stars and Stripes newspaper, even though the Sox had their first losing season in 17 years in 1968 I went around the barracks showing all my buddies the picture that accompanied the story about Wilhelm, made me proud to be a White Sox fan.
-
Exactly, he’s the least of all the problems this team and franchise have.
-
You have to wonder if they actually look at videos of all the pitches they swing at out of the zone, the season is 4 months old and it’s the same thing game after game, how many Golden Sombreros have there been especially from Robert and Burger, these guys aren’t trying to improve, just get in the box without a plan and swing at just about every pitch and get lucky and hit one out of the park once in awhile.
-
I went through the terrible years of 68, 69 and 70 plus of course the rebuild years but I’ve seen things this year by this team that I’ve never seen before, they play a game that I’m not familiar with. With an off day tomorrow it will be a good time to start retooling, first with the firing of Hahn, let KW take over for the rest of the year. The next step is to fire Grifol, the man doesn’t have a clue. I would really like to see AJ become the new manager. The guy is a winner and as a former catcher knows the game. It will be up to KW to make the trades that have to be made but the new GM whoever it may be is going to have monumental job in cleaning up this mess both at the Major and Minor League levels.

Had to be on his own.

Sox fail to score, this will be over soon.

What a fucking clown show.
