OK -- I'm out on Anderson. He whiffed too much last year at Triple A, he didn't do much (except for one game against Seattle) last season, he rarely walks and he's been horrible offensively this season. HORRIBLE. Will Young be better in the big leagues? Too soon to tell. I just think the kid has a chance to be special. He's young for Triple A, he's done a good job of controlling the strike zone and scouts say he's every bit the outfielder anderson is. Owens ain't the answer for center field. below average arm, slap hitter, OK routes. Sweeney is a corner outfielder. We need to find a solution to center field -- for 2006, 07, 08, 09.

Gio's numbers are better than Haigwood's at Double A. I always look at hits and Ks per innings pitched in the minors, more than wins or ERA. Gio has thrown nearly 60 innings with only 39 hits and 69 Ks. That's damn good. Needs to improve control with 27 walks. Haigwood not as good, especially considering he's older. In 51 innings, 49 hits and 54 Ks, but 31 walks. I'll say this: Arizona and Philly scouted our system pretty well. Nobody asked for Anderson.

so what was DJ thinking...
DJ has very few insights, doesn't give you any behind the scenes info and usually just parrots what Hawk sez. during the pre-game set up he'll say: A) Buehrle pitched great last time and if he does it again, it should be another W. Or B) Buehrle was off last game, but he should get back on track and give us a W tonight. Never says WHY he was bad or WHY he was good or WHAT he has to do to execute against the opponent that night. He's vanilla.

only thing to hope for is we find another one just like him in this year's draft. never seen him play, but his numbers sure seem to suggest he's got all the tools to be a plus-offensive player. and Razor Shines raves about the way he can go get the ball.

Chris Young hit his third homer in his last six games for the D'backs Triple A team last night, He's recovered from his broken hand and has six dingers in his first 115 at bats in Tucson. He's also got 9 doubles and 25 RBIs with an OPS of .870 during his first year in Triple A. I know we're playing for this season. I know Vasquez has done good things. I know starting pitching is critical. I just fear this kid is going to become a stud we're going to be talking about for years.

Jon Garland poll.
What is his career record minus the 8-0 start last season? I believe, including this season, it is 68-63. There is your answer.

ST Poll Question: Should Brian Anderson be sent to Charlotte?
BA needs to play, regain his confidence, improve his control of the strike zone and generally develop. He's not going to do that with the Sox this year. If we were 6 ahead of the Tigers, maybe. But we don't have the big lead we had last year -- and I doubt that will change. So do the best thing for BA and the team and send him down.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 28, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) Ah, the good ol' days. Whatever happened to Danny Wright? You know, I always thought he'd make a great closer, DJ.

White Sox @ Blue Jays
big run big hit by Robby Mack. Now let BA play CF in the last two innings. Move Mack to lf and sit Pods.

White Sox @ Blue Jays
ouch. we're giving Toronto the momentum. no question.

White Sox @ Blue Jays
he was doing a better job of pitching inside. Jays hitters adjusted, moving off the plate. Jon didn't respond to those adjustments.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 28, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) I was watching ESPN this morning, and they mentioned the White Sox vaunted pitching staff has an ERA of over 5.00 and a batting average against of nearly .300 on the road. in other words, not too vaunted.

White Sox @ Blue Jays
garland needed that third out. so did the Sox. get a run or two and cross your fingers for the pen.

White Sox @ Blue Jays
