  1. Hawk and DJ on the air. video of Frank from spring training. 20 games, more than any team in baseball Hellllllll, yes.
  2. Robin is a smart guy. He'll figure out the job. He'll know he has to be insightful to have a chance to make it in TV. Best of all, it's good to see another former Sox player come back without any hard feelings. Welcome back, Number 23.
  3. Cintron hits a major league bomb against Jenks. flat curveball. On second thought, maybe Jenks needs to start at Winston Salem
  4. Bobby Jenks sighting. Honel pitched well. like to see Jenks start the season in the rotation at Charlotte.
  5. he'll be ready by mid-april. Frankie knows this could be his last year on the South Side. Needs to put up some numbas.
  6. a row ground rule double misplayed by outfielder
  7. So you don't trust Arnie Munoz after that fabulous outing in Montreal?
  8. Crede follows Rowand's soft grounder with one of his own. three outs. 1-0 Rockies.
  9. the stuff about the roster being set has been written several times in the Chicago papers. only one spot open, allegedly. Valdez, Osuna and Burke, fighting for it, I believe.
  10. A million dollar contract could be the reason they would trade him -- if Adkins outpitches him. JR could save 500,000 or so.
  11. He played with him in Pittsburgh for one season, late in Farmer's career, early in Bonds' career. This is just the latest of his anti-Barry rants.
  12. agreed. He seems to indicate that some pitchers will be moved. if they only keep 11 you figure it will be Buehrle Garcia Contreras El Duque Garland Shingo Marte Hermanson Vizcaino Cotts Adkins/Politte Maybe they'll trade one of those guys. Dunno what they're looking for. Probably utility infielder or a backup outfielder. Other than that ... I can't imagine what else they're thinking, unless they want to dump Crede, too.
  13. Farmio seems impressed with Adkins. In better shape. Throwing strikes. He could make the club. Farmio sez there could be some guys saying goodbye (in trades, I reckon). Wonder if Adkins could replace Politte? Thoughts?
  14. Everett soft fly to center. Paulie for the RBI
  15. For Rockies, Miles flew out to the wall in right. Tracey grounded out to Iguchi. Helton singled to right Holliday forced Helton, 5-4.
  16. Iguchi pops softly to second. needed to get him over.
  17. Pods steals second just like Kenny and Ozzie scripted it.
  18. Rockies out in the firtst. Single by Helton. That's it. Pods leading off for the Sox. Farmio suggested that the Sox might be showcasing Adkins for a trade. Also said that Harris could still beat out Iguchi for the job at second. Pods lead off single to right. Yes, sir.
  19. Joe Cowley at the Daily Southtown still seems like the best info guy to me. He hasn't been at spring training because I believe he wrote a story during the winter saying he was sick. But I hope he's feeling better and will be ready to go this season.
  20. Birmingham works best it's a better park for pitchers (and their confidence) than Charlotte. Buehrle made the jump from AA to Chicago. BMac can do the same if needed this summer.
  21. I like Valido and Tracey
  22. this story is going to fade for a few weeks -- but it will come back if Maggs gets off to a good start and then it will really come back every time Magglio comes to Chicago this season. Same thing when Sammy makes his trip to The Cell. Would have been better if Magglio had gone to the other league or at least another division. But with him in the Central, this story is going to have a long, long shelf life. Best thing the Sox can do is get ahead of the Tigers and stay there and hope Maggs doesn't hit .310 with 100 Ribbies. Otherwise ... it ain't going away and it ain't gonna be pleasant.
  23. If the Sox play well, they'll get love. They weren't getting much love in 2000. Media publicity doesn't win any games. And, remember this: If Maggs starts out hot and the Tigers win, we're going to get bashed on a daily basis. That's the way it works.
  24. Jackson and Hunter were buddies from the Twinkies. He wasn't going to drill him. Of course, Jackson should have never been on the team. bullpen should be our biggest improvement this year. No Koch to blow saves for the first two months. No Jackson. And even though Adkins should be improved and more confident, he might not make the team. Hermanson ain't afraid to hit people either. Doesn't he have to start the season by sitting out a game or two because he hit somebody on the Dodgers the last weekend of the season?
  25. Caruso did have a good rookie year. -- despite the 35 or so errors. Caruso's rocky infield play is what led to the Jose Jose Jose Era. But the Sox probably rushed his development and in the end, that didn't help him. He seemed to lose confidence quickly and it always seemed like Sox management never thought he picked up on the mental part of the game. Not even sure if he is still playing -- and he's probably not even 30 yet.
