  1. keep jose over bartolo. 1. He has enough pride that he got himself in shape at a later stage in his career. 2. he can throw more than a fastball. 3. He was here during the good times and didn't take the cash and run like Bartolo.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 12:05 AM) Hawk with quite the rant during the pregame. No Hawk and Stone Pony on DirecTV. Fire Josh. Fire Brian. Fire Kenny Williams. details.
  3. pick one position for beckham and keep him there. I would really hate to see the white sox ruin Beckham. He's already been rushed to the big leagues. That's a tough adjustment. But asking as kid to adjust to the big-league life and big-league pitching while making him play more positions than Cesar Tovar is simply stupid.
  4. he's gotta be feeling really proud of booting that ball as Cabrera was hobbling down the line in the ninth. Josh, it's real simple: You're not a winning big-league player. You're another Joe Borchard.
  5. 1. Terrible hitting -- clutch, situational, power. 2. Slow. 3. Can't stop opposing teams from running and running and running. 4. Inconsistent starting pitching. 5. Bad vibe between manager and players. 6. Young guys pressing trying to establish themselves in the big leagues. Other than that, everything is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Other than hitting and fielding, Josh is having a remarkable season.
  7. For the record, I really, really, really dislike this team.
  8. I'm pissed. Why hasn't Cliff Politte gotten his freakin chance?
  9. The folks at the University of Georgia are excited, too. Their baseball coach, David Perno, talked to Beckham last night. Here is a link to the story: http://www.georgiadogs.com/ViewArticle.dbm...?DB_OEM_ID=8800
  10. can we afford Oswalt????
  11. What I like about him is he didn't b**** or freak out after his name was mentioned in trade talks. Just came out and pitched his best ball. Plus, he's a good athlete, stud QB in high school who was recruited to Michigan and then left the dark side for a better sport!!!
  12. fyi == The Cardinals promoted their stud prospect from the 2008 draft -- Brett Wallace -- to Memphis this week.
  13. Josh Fields: Your flight to Birmingham departs at 6:15 am.
  14. I'm just as excited about the guys at Birmingham and a few at Winston Salem. But back to Torres. He's averaging a strikeout per inning. He's got to be better than Gobble, who has failed for years. My guess is that if Colon keeps struggling, Poreda gets the next crack because he's got a power arm. Fine with that. He's the future. I just don't understand why Torres gets no consideration. Whisler I understand because he isn't striking anybody out. Torres' numbers suggests he is at least a bit of a prospect.
  15. I realize Carlos Torres is vconsidered a soft-tosser. about 6-2 and slender. Not impressing the radar gun crowd. But I just wonder why the guy doesn't get any mention as a possible bullpen guy or fifth-starter. Pitched another excellent game for Charlotte last night. He's averaging better than a strikeout per inning and has only walked 16 guys in 46 innings. Has not given up a home run in a hitter-friendly environment. I know he's not a stud or considered a top of the rotation guy. But considering all the crap the White Sox have thrown out there all season, why doesn't he even get a mention compared to guys like Gobble and Broadway? What are the major legitimate knocks on Carlos Torres? I know he's not a Baseball America poster boy, but why isn't he considered at least filler on our dominating staff?
  16. hard to believe our run differential this season is only minus-28.
  17. Help is on the way. Halladay tomorrow.
  18. I predict Lillibridge homers to tie it up.
  19. 28-pitch innning for Linebrink.
  20. There are about 12 of us who care. Everybody else has already tuned over and out. Just waiting on the Kenny Williams meltdown.
  21. Too bad this didn't happen last season. We could have been in line for Strassburg. Who's the top pick next season? Dye, Konerko, Thome, Fields, Jenks, Linebrink, Dotel all need to be available for the right price. Time to DISMANTLE!!!
  22. We're all just frustrated. If this continues -- and it will -- Ozzie and Kenny will go thermonuclear soon enough.
  23. They might think differently when they get a good look at some of the crowds later in the season. Being bad is one thing. Being bad and boring with a $100 million payroll is another thing.
