Birmingham is leading 13-1, another relatively good start for Thompson, but once again at various times he loses all ability to throw strikes. 4 walks in one inning led to their run and now he's just walked the first 2 guys in the 6th. 6 bb in 5IP is not going to cut it.
I see your point, but I think they have to work him up to 85 pitches before they consider moving him. At this point, it’s like he’s pitching in an all star game every week. Let him go through an order 3 times at least once just for development purposes.
An example of the risk involved in drafting TJS guys: Connor Prielipp is scheduled for another UCL surgery. Having one repair is no longer a guarantee you won’t have another.
Gil Luna pitched well for the Barons 1.2 1H (infield) 1BB 3K. For some reason they took him out with 2 on 2 outs and a lefty coming out for a right handed. Stivors immediately gave up both inherited runners. Deserved a better fate.
A couple of bleeders then a long double was the story. As indicated by the 3 walks his command was not sharp. Yoelvin Silven got lit, but the Barons have stormed back to tie it 6-6.
I think it’s a little better than that. The pitching in A ball looks pretty good. Schweitzer’s defense let him down tonight, but he had a good debut in A+. Nolasco has also been let down by the defense, but he has looked very good in relief of Schultz. They just don’t have many position players.
Kannapolis and Charlotte are both currently getting no hit. Kanny has only one position player (Baldwin) that you can even imagine playing A+ let alone the majors, but Charlotte has Sosa and Moncada and they are being no hit by Drew Hutchison!
ACL in a slugfest right now, losing 7-6. Ronny Hernandez is 3-3. Left-handed hitting catcher who was good in the DSL last year. I think he is officially on the prospect radar.
2024 is considered a down class, one of the worst in a while. On the Future Projection podcast they said they had trouble thinking of anyone who's separated themselves from the pack. The college class is heavy on 1b and 2b types. Brecht is the best pitcher and he has serious reliever risk. It's early, but this may be a year to hope the Sox pick 7th so they can get into the 2025 top tier which features Ethan Holliday.
In honor of the anniversary, perhaps mods just merge all threads into one mega "Fire Rick Hahn" thread because that's basically what all the other ones boil down to anyway.
