8/14 Gamethread: Tigers @ Sox, Alexander v. Lynn
Sosa really expanding the zone. He keeps swinging at anything round, he literally has no chance. He made his leap in AA in part because he tightened his zone. Hope he figures it out in the majors.

Or the Tigers are not a good offense.

Why did Sheets hit for himself there?

8/12 Gamethread: Tigers @ Sox, Norris v. Kopech
Am I the only one who wants to call Menechino "Menechino" out of respect for the only Sox employee who should ever be called "Frank"?

8/11 Games
My point was just players say there is an adjustment to the mlb ball, how it breaks etc. Colas may benefit from exposure to it.

8/11 Games
Yes. I believe they use the minor league ball through AA, but then the MLB ball in AAA. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/four-perspectives-how-do-mlb-and-milb-balls-differ/

Wilber Sanchez sent down to ACL? I know Atwood has been hitting, but he’s like 24 in lo A.

Good job so far by Charlie Romero at Birmingham. First Sosa, no Cespedes, really improved their plate discipline. And he certainly hasn't screwed up Colas.

Baseball America: Colson Montgomery #38 on Top 100 Update
Currently Colas is at #99. Hard to see how some of these guys *cough* Brennan Davis *cough* are ahead of him, but BA is stubborn when they've been wrong on guys. https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/2022-top-100-prospects/

He’s not a center fielder, but he’s certainly a serious cut above Eloy, Vaughn, and Sheets. True right fielder with at least a 60 arm.

I think with the difference in the ball this year, Colas would benefit from AAA time. It seems like his opponent taco yesterday is impossible with the mlb ball. I am obviously as high on Colas as anyone on this board, but I don’t see the season as salvageable, so I’m fine with letting him acclimate. He should get a shot in 2023, though. Hopefully with a different manager and hitting coach.

Tigers fire Avila
This is a good time to fire a GM. Really nothing for them to do until EOS evaluations. They got a couple of months to find someone.

One lefty in the line up, no surprise he comes up in the biggest situation immediately.

Colas earned a walk on a really terrific ab. Fouled off a lot of pitches. Dude's a professional hitter.

BA's Updated Top 30 - White Sox
Nice. Seems light on Sosa, but I like it generally.

8/7 Games
Pretty disappointing day so far. Charlotte and Kanny both got crushed, Birmingham is in the process of getting crushed. W-S won led by another nice day for Ramos. Cespedes continues to hit the ball hard with a lineout and a single. Montgomery, Colas, and, obviously, Sosa all did not play.

Velasquez .1 inning, 3H 2bb. Another great offseason acquisition.

8/7 GT: Sox @ Rangers - Giolito vs. Howard (135pmCT)
If Burger was a better hitter, you might consider it, but he is poor defensively and only hits lefties. I guess you could try Sosa at 3rd. He’s a good defender over there, but they owe Moncada like $50 million. It would be wise to try and fix him.
