  1. He really reminds me of Haseley during his draft year at UVa. Former two-way guy who finds power in his draft year. But the Sox have to fill the hole left by Steele Walker somehow.
  2. He's like 0-25 and his OPS is still .950. Gotta be tough being an Angels fan. They're huge baseball fans down in O.C., very knowledgeable. They have at least 2 of the best players in the game and... I mean, they're never catching Houston now.
  3. At least they got something for Walker. Gonzalez was a headscratcher at the time.

    Burke 5IP 2H 0R 2bb 4K so far. No Sosa or Cespedes today Kelley 4IP 3H 0R 0bb 2K pulled after only 49 pitches Kath 1-2 2bb
  5. I am going to Kanny to catch the game on the 26th. I hope to either him or Mena as the rest of their pitching is somewhat suspect. Add in Montgomery, Kath, and Veras, and there are definitely guys worth seeing down there.

Semien is one of my favorite Sox prospects of all time. I can see the similarity. Both play 3 positions. Both have good bat to ball skills. Semien was Southern League MVP and Sosa is trending that way. One difference, and this surprises me, Sosa is walking more.

To be fair, I believe Morel was repeating AA.

Sosa 2-3 with a HR. Colas 1-4 with a triple.

Kath ended up 2-3 with 2bb and 1k. Montgomery was 3-5. Otherwise, not much. Kanny loses 7-6.
  10. In Sox last 2 wins, their opponents are 2-18 w/RISP and 18 left. So, they have to start scoring more runs, because no one has that strand rate.

Kath hits another HR. He may be figuring it out.
  12. i appreciate the optimism, but this team hasn't shown any signs of life after the first week of the season. Their run differential indicates that they're probably worse than their record. I get it, Moncada won't stay this bad, Abreu's starting to hit etc. But I have a hard time believing the light's suddenly gonna turn on and they start playing .600 ball. I think they're sellers at the deadline, and by July 4th, they need to start thinking about reshaping for 2023.
  13. Good for Gorman. Cards have a bright future.
  14. No Prielipp in their mock? I expect him to rise once he throws for teams, but maybe the injury was more serious than I thought. Not interested in Beck’s R/R swing and miss, power over hit profile. Sox already have a lot of that. But I think BA was being lazy. At that part of their mock they were just dumping all the college outfielders in a pile. I doubt the Sox are in on Beck, but who knows?
  15. McGiire as DH has to be a new low for TLR. It’s so bad that it overshadows hitting Leury at lead off while Vaughn hits 7th. I mean, ultimately they have so many problems that batting order doesn’t matter all that much, but he would for sure do better pulling names out of a hat. Also, Sheets has to go down. He’s not right offensively and TLR just can’t quit him.
  16. Yolbert is really more of a 2b. And he’s 25; so the future is now. He’s also been slumping lately. If you DFA Harrison, bring up Yolbert. Replacing TA? There’s really no one. I mean, Sosa? Romy? Neither of them are gonna save 2022. You’d be getting them ABs for development, I guess.
  17. Abreu had to swing to keep it from hitting him. This team is godawful. Makes me long for the days of Ryan Cordell.
  18. Priorities to trade for me would be: Pollock if he has even 1 good month, Kelly, Graveman, and I'd consider Hendricks and Bummer. Doubt you could get anything for Grandal, but I'd try it. I'd consider Giolito and for sure Lynn if he comes back looking good. I'd avoid talking about Cease, Kopech, Vaughn, Anderson and Robert. Unlikely you'd get fair value for Moncada or Eloy, so your best bet is to hope for a rebound from those two. In return, I'm looking to get more athletic, more left-handed, and pitching, pitching, pitching, and more pitching. Sox farm has almost no pitching depth at any level. You've got a handful of promising guys like Vera, Mena, and Burke, but everyone else is kind of a suspect at this point. Ideally, I'd like to get the catcher of the future as right now that's who? Carlos Perez? Adam Hackenberg? With Keuchel, Abreu, and hopefully Pollock off the books for '23, they could afford to get a marquee free agent to build around and have a little more depth both for trades and to rebuild from within.
  19. I've got Kopech > Cease, but I see your point. Sox have tried tying up 0 of their young front of the rotation types, so chances are they lose all 3 of them.

Thanks for the updates. Colson sounds dangerous. Sosa struggling with sliders places him squarely in the mix of every righthand hitter the Sox have.
  21. Sox minor league infield depth is mostly at 2b. Yolbert is pretty much exclusively a 2b (where he is ++ as a defender). I think his arm is short for the position. Lenyn Sosa pretty much always played ss when he was paired with Sanchez, but now he's rotating between 3 infield positions and may end up at 3b. Can handle short, though. Jose Rodriguez (who is hitting again) can also play all 3 infield positions, but it appears his best position is 2b. Obviously, Colson Montgomery is nowhere near the majors. The jury is out on him as a ss. Romy Gonzalez can play the position, but he has been nailed to the bench in Charlotte. If TA has to miss major time, my money is on plenty of Leury/Mendick/Harrison. Bleah.
  22. Well, that sucks. Without TA, this is a 90 loss team.
  23. I don't expect them to do anything significant at this point. I think we have to stop pretending they're in the middle of some fictitious "window." That was PR to sell the rebuild. In their last 122 games, they are 62-60. That is not a juggernaut. The cost of the improvements necessary for them to right the ship, even in this weak division, will not ultimately justify going all in for 2022. I am still haunted by the team's denial that they were contenders in 2016, which led them to make the Shields trade. I am terrified they're gonna trade what few assets they have in the minors for a series of one and two year band-aids that are not much different from the Shields, Yonder, Alonso, AJ Pollock, Josh Harrison, Craig Kimbrel, Joe Kelly, Adam Eaton, John Jay etc etc etc that they have acquired over the past few years. I say, they should unload the dead weight on this roster like Harrison and try to get something at the deadline for Pollock, Kelly, and Graveman (if the first two rebound). I think you also have to listen on Giolito. He's not signing an extension and the Sox aren't giving him $250 million. I'd also listen on Lynn and almost anyone else not name Robert, Anderson, Vaughn, or Kopech. This team had flaws in its construction that need to be addressed. Look at the Padres. They rethought their team, got a real manger in there and jumped up significantly. The Sox can do that, but it's unrealistic to believe that's going to happen in 2022. I'd shift focus to 2023 and beyond.
  24. Someone had to do it.
  25. Harrison is apparently not being DFA’d. Instead he’s hitting second suddenly.
