I like Engel’s D, but he can’t throw and a lot of balls fall in front of him. Leury is just okay out there. From what I have seen, Robert will be better. But, yeah, Yolmer is an elite defender at second. Has been for a while. Moving him to third was understandable, but destroyed his value.

How do you know that? He has played zero OF in his life. Maybe he'd be good like Whit Merrifield. Maybe he'd be mediocre. I just have a hard time believing that jerking around the team's best player is the solution to all of our problems.

Anything is possible, but why would the Sox give up assets for JD Martinez when Nick Castellanos is available for nothing but money. Not even draft picks? Seems unlikely.

I am amazed at the amount of discussion over Kiley mentioning “buzz” that the Sox are going to be active in veterans on short deals for low guarantees. That’s not even a source. And it’s what they did last year, so... yeah. He didn’t rule them out going for a big piece. Seems pretty close to a nothing burger to me.

I would bet the under on that happening, but it would be nice.

Agree to disagree. Frare was horrific this past year. Don’t know what happened to him, but it was rough. Point is, the Sox 40 man had a lot of really bad players on it. Probably farther from contending than they think.

Sox 40 man at 32, I could imagine them getting it to 25 if they non-tender Yolmer, outright Frare, Ruiz, Vieira, Meideros, Palka, and Zavala. Maybe they are planning on adding 10 guys in the Rule 5 draft.

Why? Moncada hasn’t played outfield in his life. Not even in Cuba. Who knows if he could play right, let alone be lethal out there?

After reading a post on MLB Trade Rumors, I have decided that I am cool with anyone the Sox get in right except long time rumored KW favorite JBJ. Boston should non-tender him and if the Sox are dumb enough to pick up that salary, it will ruin my off season.

As he should be. 33 year old next year coming off an 89 ops+ in a great lineup. Seems like a real risk of John Jay repeat.

The Twins are young, have a very good farm system, at least as much payroll flexibility as the Sox, and a better front office team. They will be tough to compete with.

I predict the Sox lose All the free agents at least for a while, so that’s Detwiler, Nova, Jay, Abreu, Santiago, Castillo. Then there are a lot of fringe guys who will go, Banuelos, Tilson, Skole, Goins. Then they should choose between backup outfielders, I think both Palka and Cordell go and they keep Engel, but maybe they keep two of these three. then there are several relievers on the bubble like Frare, Vieira, Ruiz, and Madeiros. They could risk Hamilton because it is hard for other teams to know the state of his injuries. I predict the Sox hold on to both Fulmer and Covey at least until Spring Training. Then they have big arbitration decisions on both Yolmer and Leury. Then there are their underperforming prospects like Zavala, Basabe and Adolfo. I bet they keep them all, but Zavala is older and looks like he won’t hit and if Adolfo doesn’t perform in Arizona, they might try to sneak him through. Point is, they should have no problem protecting any player they like this winter.

Okay, we’re not trading Vaughn and Steiver for Chris Sale. Point of the article is that Price and Sale’s contracts are soooo bad that the RED SOX would have to include a prospect to get it done. the question for the F.O. Is how much of that contract would you be willing to take on. I mean, I love Sale, but there’s a non-zero chance he is headed to TJS and he has had shoulder problems.

Wow. Sox have so many guys who suck, this exercise isn’t even tough. They are definitely going to keep Rutherford, Burdi, and probably Hansen over people like Goins, Palka, and Cordell. Abreu is definitely a lock, but I bet they resign him after the Rule 5. Banuelos is gone. Frare was awful this year as were Ruiz, and Vieira. I think Osich stays. Fulmer stays. Maybe Yolmer and Engel. I doubt anyone takes Zavala but he’s like 26 next year, so not a huge loss. The only way there’s a roster crunch is if they sign 10 free agents

I searched for another thread and didn't find it. Apparently, Renteria didn't understand what the umps were asking re: his challenge of Narvaez's "homer" last night and didn't challenge, a move that cost the Sox the game. Is he on pain meds? How stupid. Also, the 8th today where he let's a spent Hector put 3 guys on and then plays musical relievers for like 45 minutes was unwatchable.

The last two innings have been ridiculous for their chase rate. Has a hitting coach ever been fired in the middle of an inning?

I wouldn’t trade nearly that much for one year of Joc Pederson. I get it, we’re desperate but still, we have to make moves that have decent value.
