  1. They got $9 million.
  2. Nice to see a little Taoism to class up the board. It’s really true. I know the Sox are selling the future, but part of the joy is living today. I hope Eloy hits another homer and that the Sox win today.
  3. Nice list. It hurt to see Steve Lyons on it, though. I remember him playing 3rd. Perhaps the worst player I have ever seen get close to 500 at bats. How about Chris Singleton? He was good for one year. Or Dewayne Wise? Not a great player, but the catch? Hell, give me Thad Bosley. Anybody but Lyons.
  4. Great article. Now I understand why Sox are signing that Cuban guy. JR is skittish about sinking millions into an 18 year old high school kid whose probability of making an impact is risky. So a 16 year old would be more so. Now, in the DR they’ve moved on to 13 year olds. Talk about a lottery ticket. I am against an international draft, but mlb has to start enforcing the signing rules. This stuff is ridiculous. It’s essentially child labor. When you’re encouraging 10 year olds to leave home for a baseball career, something is terribly wrong.
  5. If they won't release him, can they release his bat? If he had stood there that at bat he would have walked.
  6. I would argue they have been for a long time - Steve Carlton, Ron Santo, Bobby Bonds, Canseco, Ken Griffey Jr., Adam Dunn. Yonder and Nova are part of a proud tradition.
  7. The White Sox are my anger management course. If I can stay calm watching this, the rest of my life is a breeze.
  8. I would be shocked.
  9. Hard pass on Verdugo. There are character/behavior issues that are more important than a rf imho.
  10. Okay, who is going to appear in a full season game first Burger or Andrew Vaughn? I pick Burger.

    Scott Ruffcorn?
  12. I actually think the first time was the charm. Pretty good to turn Hector into Eaton into Giolito. Remember when Hector made the All Star team ahead of Quintana? He’s had a weird career.
  13. In another thread I suggested Gregory Polanco
  14. I want the Sox to make an offer for Gregory Polanco. In the doghouse with the Pirates. He is sort of their Avi Garcia, teases them with potential.
  15. Man, I cannot recall the Sox ever getting 2 doubles and 2 triples and none of them scored.

Don't look now but Adam Engel has 8 homers and an .827 OPS at Charlotte. Which does not bode well for John Jay and his .611.
  17. I think he’s going to get full time at bats, just not 50% of the reps behind the plate.
  18. Umm,that would put McCann on the bench for like 70% of the games. I like Collins and hope he does well, but he's not going to be the #1 catcher. I predict he takes both Castillo and Alonso's at bats as back-up catcher/DH.
  19. Why the heck rush him? You've got an off day 2 games, then another off day. He could've been given another week and missed 3 games.
  20. Compare this to the Yankees yesterday. They don't have anybody good, so they go to an opener, who starts the game off on a good note. he Sox treat a game started by Giolito or Chris Sale exactly like they treat a game started by Manny Banuelos or Despaigne or whoever. They expect them to go 6 to 7 regardless of how many they give up. Completely inflexible thinking that will keep them from being a championship club unless they have overwhelming talent. The Yankees have won every game they've used the opener. I'm not sure the Sox have ever triedit. Ricky values his ability to use 4 guys in the 8th too much to experiment.
  21. I have never seen this many cheap hits in my life.
  22. Castillo not running hard cost them a run.
  23. I think that's who they're going to use to get a Trevor Bauer type. We don't have what they need.
  24. Possible reclamation, but it would be a huge risk: Chris Archer. Pirates insist everyone throw their sinker, but his is getting killed. If you don’t give up much of value but eat his salary, I could see getting him to throw 4 seam, lots of sliders, and the change and maybe he bounces back. Obviously, they’re never getting close to what they gave up to get him. Yet another cautionary tale, do not trade with Tampa.
  25. Man, they are swinging at fricking everything. Sure strike 3 was bad, but Yolmer swung at 2 pitches over his head.
