ReyLo can’t put anyone away tonight. I think he’s had 2 strikes on everyone this inning.

Watched all of it. A lot of cheap hits. The single that came around to score was a roller, exit velocity probably in the 60’s. Walks came in bunches. He lost his mechanics in his last inning. Issue is consistency in his delivery. Most of the night he dominated their hitters.

Maybe the best 2 game stretch of the year for pure enjoyment.

I would not send him out there. 2-13 w/RISP, 10 left. Get cute, this is the kind of game that would really sting.

I guess, but these Astros pitchers are nobodies and they're getting 2 ball widths more than Giolito on every corner.

Cease likely done. Through 6. Labored and lost his mechanics, so he walked 2, but struck a guy out on 3-2. He's going to be good, but he definitely is not a finished product.

Cease gave up a run on a couple of not particularly hard hit balls. Through 5.

2 walks in the inning, but gets out of it. Cease is clearly working on throwing his secondary stuff for strikes. That's the last box that needs to be checked. I think if they brought him up now he'd walk a lot of guys.

Fair enough, but that number is crazy. How do you slap a 20 on a guy with 33 xbh in 330 AB's? That's 40 power minimum.

Watching the Charlotte game at Gwinnett. They changed the words to the national anthem to "and the home of the Braves," which, not cool.

Huh? Even in the minors, Ozzie Albies never had anything like 20 power. He hit 24 HRs last year and an xbh once every 10 ABs. I will buy 40 power that showed up as 50 with the juiced ball, but Madrigal can’t even see 40 power from where he’s at. Maybe after he completely reworks the swing, but why take a polished college player with limited upside at 1-4 if he’s gotta retool his entire approach and swing?

It begs the question “can a guy get to his 60 hit tool, if he has 20 power?” Kind of interesting really.

My comp from before the draft on Madrigal was former Oregon State great Darwin Barney and, sadly, so far he is living up to that. There is still time for him, but he has to change his swing, imho, to be much more than a second division regular ala Barney or Yolmer Sanchez.
