  1. Also just got hit in the head on a backswing. Seems to be okay, though.
  2. 94 consistently. Great change up. Obviously, the slider is killer.
  3. After watching yesterday’s game, i’d DFA Gonzalez and bring Garneau up until Smith is ready. That was a clinic of horribleness behind the plate. I didn’t mean to imply it was going to be hard to find someone to DFA. The Sox have like 10 guys on their 40 man who no one would miss.
  4. Santiago is the swing man, Rodon is going to replace him in the rotation. Who goes down and who gets dropped from the 40 man is anyone’s guess.
  5. Home plate ump had bad strike zone all day. Called Basabe out on ball that was high. Basabe threw his helmet.
  6. I think Basabe should be promoted as well.
  7. This is worse than watching the last 20 games of the Bulls season. Covey deserved better.
  8. Kopech done. 6IP 3H 2ER 2BB 7SO. Looked good. Had one bad inning and a solo shot. When he executed pitches AAA hitters had no chance. HR came a pitch after he thought he had the guy punched out. Lead-off walk hurt him in the 5th.
  9. Yay. Finally some good news
  10. Of those two, I'd take Singer, but I'd rather have Kelenic than either of them. Not a great draft to be picking where we're picking.
  11. Would rather roll the dice on upside with Kelenic than take Madrigal. More I think about it, the more anti-Madrigal I get. High contact, low walks, low power, speed player who hits right-handed. Does not profile in modern game.
  12. Wow. Number 1 pick, here we come. Seriously, I was looking at the 40 man because the Sox have to add both Kopech and Cease to it in the offseason. They have about 25 guys you want on it, after that there's a lot of AAAA meh players. Skole is just the latest.
  13. Pitched last night for Birmingham. Looked good. Got the win. Control not terrible. Aggressive with the fastball, not a lot of deception. Throw him in there with Burdi, Johnson, and Hamilton as real hard throwers for the future.
  14. Yeah, and you’re not going to get that much for him. Salary relief? Who cares? Sox have a minuscule payroll that’s about to shed Shields as well. If Eloy were a first baseman, maybe, but trading Abreu for a couple of B/C level prospects, meh.
  15. Why would he be older than his listed age? I get it’s been a problem in the Dominican where there’s plenty of incentive to buy a new identity both for baseball reasons and unique situations on the island. (For example, discrimination against people of Haitian descent.). But Cubans Jose’s age had no hope of going to America to play baseball and Cuba’s a dictatorship. Way harder to get false documents in a police state than it is in the D.R. Plus, he got famous in Cuba as a very young man. It’s possible he’s older than his listed age, but I doubt it. Is there any evidence?
  16. Is Winston-Salem’s outfield better than the Sox outfield right now? I realize it’s A ball, but good grief, Sox outfield worst I can remember.
  17. I predict the latter. He hasn't really had one full healthy season as a starter. I bet they concentrate on innings.
  18. You called it, Caulfield. Big boys got it done.
  19. Ian Hamilton strikes out the side for the Barons. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him in the bigs by the end of the year.
  20. Also, they’re relatively old for the level. Laz Rivera is already 23, for instance and Dedelow was a senior sign as well. It’s like we’ve got two Hi A affiliates
  21. Cease is done. 7.1 4H 1ER 2BB 9K
  22. Yeah, when he keeps his delivery together, which he has most of the year,, he’s pretty tough. Kopech hasn’t gotten on a run yet, though. Middle to end of last year he was unhittable. Glad we have both.
  23. Curve was filthy
