  1. I actually disagree. If Vaughn is one of the 44 guys in camp, you have to imagine that he's in the 2-deep. God forbid that the team gets hit by a significant Covid outbreak, you could see him being called up to play 1b, dh, 3b, hell, even 2b, which was his position in HS. I believe this year is so unpredictable that a lot of unlikely scenarios are on the table now.
  2. I grew up in St. Joe, MI. Michigan City Lakefront is real nice, it's close to the Dunes. Rest of the town... eh. Patchy. There's a state prison there, so it's mixed. Just North of Michigan City there are some exclusive enclaves with a lot of Chicagoans all the way up to New Buffalo.
  3. I think he will be a tandem starter with Kopech, Cease, or Lopez. Hard to justify sitting Kopech to start Gio imho
  4. Man, what a lovely video from Kenny. Say what you want about Reinsdorf and how conservative he is with free agents and draft picks, it makes me proud to cheer for a team that won the World Series with a Black GM and a Venezuelan manager, that is by far MLB's leader when it comes to charities and outreach to the community, that has a super strong ACE program, that is represented by diverse, caring people like Anderson, Giolito, and Eloy. They don't give rings for that stuff, but it's a big reason I'm a Sox fan. Compare that to rooting for the Ricketts.
  5. The Cubs got a better player than the Sox picking way after them. *sigh* But it's a very deep draft, so there's not THAT much difference. Man am I disappointed.
  6. HATE this pick. Please don't compare to Sale. He wasn't a reach. He was supposed to go at 4 and fell. This is a reach.
  7. Personally, I'm team "anyone but Crochet."
  8. Define “owners.” It is impossible for the Yankees, BoSox, Phillies, Dodgers, Cubs, etc to lose more money collecting TV revenue than by not collecting it. The Pirates, however, are another matter. Just like the NHL, baseball has a long history of caving to owners and markets that should be allowed to contract. For 5he Yankees to cancel a season to save the Pirates is nauseating. But I am a union member myself, so kind of biased.
  9. Interesting take. I think and hope you’re wrong about the pick. High school pitcher at 11? That’s not Jerry’s style.
  10. Agree to disagree. There is a reason why literally no countries are trying this strategy. Here, we are starting to see kids get a Covid-related syndrome that one 14 year old described as “someone literally injecting fire into you.” There is so much we don’t know about this virus that achieving herd immunity by giving it to large groups at once would, in addition to overwhelming the entire health system, likely result in unexpected outcomes for a bunch of people outside of your expendable group. Hold tight. Good vaccine news today. We may lose the 2020 baseball season, but that is no reason to sacrifice like 2 million people imho.
  11. My opinion may be colored by the fact that I live in NYC where 20,000 people are dead. The problem isn't the people attending large gatherings "taking their chances," it's providing fuel for the virus to keep spreading. Everyone who gets it, even those who don't get particularly sick, keep the virus alive in the community. If the average person who gets it gives it to two people, you can see how that just delays when this thing is finally over. Not to mention the inevitability of people dying as a result. I would love to have crowds back, but it is a terrible idea. Just a note, players didn't die, but people affiliated with the NBA definitely died as did Karl Anthony Townes' mother.
  12. This is nice. Reinsdorf gets a lot of heat for being "cheap" or whatever with Bulla and Sox. Probably a lot of that is deserved, I don't want to go into it. But when it comes to things like White Sox charities, ACE, and how he treats his employees, it's pretty clear that Jerry has a big heart. That''s one of the things that makes me proud to be a Sox fan. You don't see the Cubs making Ed Howard into a first-round draft pick, basically getting nothing out of it for themselves.
  13. Giolito has become one of my favorite Sox players. Ever. Just such a decent guy.
  14. Bummer is one of the hardest workers on the club. Good for him! I like the Sox paying younger guys for performance. It’s the wave of the future, rather than paying old guys for past performance.
  15. Okay, how about Starling Marte and Adam Jones? Both plus athletes at a key defensive position who throughout their careers have not walked much but hit for good averages with decent power.
  16. I was at that game. Next outing v. Sox Nolan plunked Rubin and I think Grebeck. Cue video
  17. What they're saying is that he's put on a lot of muscle and he's hitting with more power in BP. But that's just BP, so who knows?
  18. Early reports this spring look positive for Rutherford. That would be huge because no Sox left-handed hitters ever seem to develop.
  19. Thanks. Agree to disagree. I think he is going to have a long post-Sox career.
  20. In the next 2 years? Or in his career? Cuz if it's career, I'd take the over on that in a heartbeat, even if the bulk of it is going to be for another team.
  21. Do you actually write these or do you have a bot that auto fills your Abreu slams?
  22. Man, must have twisted his knee sprinting to his mistress’s house after the baby was born.
  23. Cool. I grew up in St. Joe. Not many Sox fans there, though.
