Richard Dotson, DNA, Unknown Father
Fantastic story. Always a big fan of Dot. The way he handled this news makes him seem like an incredibly cool guy.

Sox vs Twins. 9/14 - 7:10
What the hell is he hitting against everyone but us?

You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.

Man, imagine how mad Twins fans are right now. What a frustrating game for everyone concerned.

Sox vs Tigers. 9/13 - 1:10
Cishek warming. Did RR pull a Pete Rose and bet against the Sox?

Really saw some nice stuff from Stiever. Loved how fast he works.

Man, I can’t stand watching Dyson “hit.” Probably necessary, but, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, I would have preferred Engel.

Stiever to start Sunday
Interesting. Vote of confidence for Cease, moving his start back a day to see the Twins. Not sure it’s a “great” match up, but proves they believe in Dylan. Excited to see Stiever.

Hahn: Andrew Vaughn "could help the team this season"
Huh? Kopech Is not going to spend all of 2021 in the minors. Or if he does, his arm fell off and we got more problems than playing service time games.

It’s beginning to look like going with the B lineup may not have been the best idea.

Sox playoff chances sit at 100%, 3rd in AL for WS odds
If the Sox sweep Detroit, whatever happens in the Cleveland Minny series would be good. Take care of business and everything will work out.

11-0 now. Mondesi just crushed a 3-run shot. Sox likely to pick up a half game.

Watching right now. He looks pretty good, but this might be Cleveland's hitters too. They do not look hitterish.

Nick Madrigal
I bet he would. I think every single Sox player gets hate on this board, regardless of size, religion, or nation of origin. Sox fans are equal opportunity in that way.

Dallas Keuchel leaves game with back injury
I look at it this way: I have zero faith in Lopez, but Saturday would have been a bullpen day anyway. (Flores says he was stretched out to about 3 innings in Schaumburg). If Lopez gets into trouble, start emptying a fairly well-rested pen starting with Gonzalez, Flores, and Detwiler. If Lucas can give you at least 6 on Friday, that should be very doable. I am not thrilled, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m sure RR will have him on a short leash. I’m actually more afraid he will do well, and then he is counted on every fifth day for the last 15 games.

You have to start McCann for now
Absolutely. I just couldn’t think of another lefty hitting FA right fielder. Mazara May be struggling but it’s a rare commodity. I thought Polanco might be worth a flier. Oops.

Interesting. Who would that big money RF be? IMHO, it’s gotta be Harper, right? Two years later, it seems obvious he would have been a much better fit than Machado.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Don’t know if you’re aware of this Princeton study but it is the single most depressing analysis of the phenomenon you’re talking about. The donor class is really the only group that matters when it comes to public policy. https://scholar.princeton.edu/sites/default/files/mgilens/files/gilens_and_page_2014_-testing_theories_of_american_politics.doc.pdf

The George Springer Paradox
Personally, I would pass on paying a lot for another RH bat. He’s better than Mazara or any minor league options, but there’s redundancy in his skill set. I would rather have Bauer (though I think that is unlikely). I would probably spend the money in a very unsexy way, lock up Giolito.

Mazara is starting to look way better. Can you imagine our lineup if he's a consistent threat?

What is your predicted pitching rotation next year?
He just signed an extension. Mets would have to be blown away to trade him. His contract has $50 million in deferred money, so JR would want relief from that. Never say never, but it would take a haul. Vaughn + Kopech?

Does Renteria owe Cordero money or take out an insurance policy on him? Cuz it sure looks like he’s trying to kill him.

Moncada has got to get an Umpire Benevolent Society sticker for his helmet or something. Never seen a guy get so many bad calls against one guy.

I'm putting a lot of weight on the SSS of what he looked like in March both in sides and his one time on the mound. Stuff was electric. Normal Spring Training for pitchers is 7-8 weeks. That's a reasonable amount of time to shake off rust, especially considering he'll have a normal offseason to ramp up. I can see a world where he's in the minors until June 1, but if he can't go at all as a starter, they're basically screwed. Pitchers with Kopech's stuff just don't grow on trees. Bauer's an interesting name, but he seems committed to signing a one year free agent contract every year for the rest of his career. If true, can you imagine the Sox giving up their first round pick and $18 million for a guy who has been as inconsistent in his career as Bauer? I'd be surprised.
