Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Pitching well through 4 games with the Astros so far. Wouldn't mind bringing him back on a 1-year deal (maybe 2 years since he's not that old yet and maybe could do better than one) as we need bullpen arms anyway. It seems like exactly the kind of free agent deal the White Sox would look for. A cheap veteran roster spot who must have enjoyed working with Coop that is flippable.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 04:30 PM) Cash, the Astros paid 1 million which covered the rest of Clippards salary How does it cover the rest of his salary if the Astros are the team taking on his salary?

Reverse Standings Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 07:44 AM) With is arb status, it wouldn't shock me if Putnam is a non-tender for 2018. Not sure on who needs to be added still, but I get the feeling there will be plenty of room. Melky, Holland, Pelfrey and MiGo are all gone at some point, at a minimum. We could still find deals on others. He has pitched 35 innings in the last 2 years. I'd put money on the Sox tendering him a contract.

07/26 GT: Cubs @ Sox game 3, 7:08 PM, Arrieta vs. Shields
2 pitches into the game and Hawk already gets a White Sox player's name wrong

Melky thread
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 07:05 PM) So what do you think? Traded by Monday afternoon, or August waiver deal? Starting to think the latter. I don't think the Sox can afford to keep him past the deadline. Whatever team claims him can just refuse to give any prospects because the White Sox would have no leverage. They'll be forced to hold on to him or let him go for salary relief.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 23, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) Brice Turang for sure. Is anyone concerned that he can't pull the ball whatsoever?

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:36 PM) Engel? May? Mickerr? Slim pickings. Adolfo, May, Engel, Coats slim picking no doubt, but Hawkins?

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:24 PM) Before last year's draft their best OF prospect was probably Courtney Hawkins. yeahh... I don't think so

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) People really overrated DRob's value. Remember the package be almost went for during the offseason? He's had a good year, but not great. I'd have held on to him for that return same as I would have for Kahnle.

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
This has been Hahn's worst big deal by far

Mendick to AA
Dickman hasn't ever been listed on any top Sox prospects list has he? Hopefully his bat stays hot.

7/15 Games
QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) Don't know what's happening to Alex Call. He's extended his stay in AZL way beyond expectation. He's now an ugly 2 for 47 down there. It's not like he's striking out a ton, but just hitting an insane number of ground balls. P.S. He's blocking our water polo star down there. How's that? Call doesn't play first

Frazier to Boston Rumors getting heavy
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) I think is 100% on other than the fact that it would cost a fortune in prospects. Miggy is hitting nearly a mirror image of Mitch Moreland this year too. I'm really not sure that is a fact

Luis Robert injured
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) James Fegan @JRFegan 2m2 minutes ago Luis Robert is progressing well, expected to return to play in a couple of weeks So 7 days has turned into 21 days

Q may get moved "sooner than you think"
Q is more far more valuable than any of the top prospects talked about in the last 10 pages. Come crucify me if you want, but if the Sox don't get a top 15 prospect and more for Q than Hahn blew it.

New York vs. Chicago
QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 05:28 PM) It's difficult for me to believe what we saw last season was a fluke. I think in the long run he'll be fine, but he's definitely going through growing pains right now. I didn't think he passed the eye test last year
-
New York @ Chicago
How did Frazier not see the spin on that?

Tim Anderson
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:31 PM) I was just reading an article in ESPN the Mag about defense being the big thing nowadays in building winning teams. Some of the people on this board think our front office has a clue. So we're going to have Anderson and Moncada up the middle defensively? That in itself should prevent meaningful postseason runs. And this years draft was a disappointment in that regard

Tim Anderson
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 09:49 PM) Sounds about like Juan Uribe offensively...he needs to be better than that, unless he plays defense like last year. I have no fond memories of his defense last year. The dude didn't know where the 2nd base bag was.
-
Tim Anderson
I'm not a big fan, I thought he was brought up too soon and signed to an extension to soon. I'm not anywhere near 100% bearish, but I really hope Q can bring back a SS prospect that pushes Anderson to the outfield.

Day Two Draft Discussion
"Senior 1B/3B/P Sammy Abbott (whose mother was an Olympic swimmer) was named 2nd team all-4A SPSL as a designated hitter during his sophomore season and has continued to produce at the plate since, earning an honorable mention last season. A multi-sport star who has spent time in the USA Water Polo program, Abbott recently signed on to play water polo at Long Beach State, where he also hopes to continue his baseball career as a walk-on." Strange pick

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 12:17 AM) Lost another one. Matt Albers gives up a HR to ... wait for it...Tyler Flowers. It's beyond safe to say the braves got a good deal when it comes to that contract

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
QUOTE (hi8is @ May 22, 2017 -> 10:51 PM) What about it is funny to you? The suggested return is piss poor, and if that was the best offer it would be well worth the gamble for the Sox to hold on to Robertson for another year. Or half a season. Or more in an effort to do better.
