  1. Ok its 2:30 and the encore of the Bulls game is on csn. What gives?
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) I'd prefer Kodos. Was that joke made yet? I see what you did there
  3. Lets add Bonifacio and one of Medlen and Beachy and another reliever.
  4. QUOTE (almagest @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) Agreed. Losing Semien could really hurt, especially since we're relatively weak at second base (for now - one of Saladino/Sanchez/Johnson could fill in nicely, but I don't have much faith right now in any of them). If we don't resign Samardzija, I feel like this trade is a definite loss. Of course, this assumes Semien reaches the potential he showed late last year and in the minors. It'd be tough to call it a loss because we would gain a draft pick and it would turn out how he performs throughout his career too
  5. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 09:09 AM) I agree wholeheartedly on Bonifacio. He can even play a little CF, and could be platooned with Gillaspie at 3B against tough left handers. I would also like to see them make a play on Daniel Nava. Boston has to get rid of a couple of their many OF's. Nava is a switch hitter, can play first and OF, could spell Avi, could be platooned with LaRoche, and only makes $1.9M. Bonifacio would be a nice backup leadoff hitter when Eaton gets hurt. Robin loved to bat Danks or Garcia leadoff in his absence.
  6. Assuming we move Tank soon, what does everyone think that the Opening Day Roster will look like? (also assuming no one gets injured during Spring Training). This is what I have: Lineup: Eaton CF Cabrera LF/RF Abreu 1B/DH LaRoche DH/1B Garcia RF/LF Gillaspie 3B Ramirez SS Flowers C Sanchez 2B Bench: Brantly C (Nieto goes to AAA to get at bats) Saladino IF (platoon 3B; I believe someone posted an article on here in a thread that said he would be ready by spring training) Danks OF L. Garcia IF/OF (25th man, pinch runner, can play emergency OF; would love them to sign Bonifacio for this though, and to take at bats away from some lefties Rotation: Sale Shark Quintana Noesi Danks Bullpen: Robertson CL Petricka SU Duke SU (L) Guerra Jennings (L) Putnam Surkamp LR (L) (doesn't hurt to have a third lefty as Robin can't burn through all of them by the 7th inning this way, can also serve as mop-up guy)
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) You know what has me thinking, t know if its all that important, but I noticed that none of these deals are long enough that could hamper Sale and Quintana's next extensions in 5 years. Maybe besides Samardzija, pending an extension. So I think this is a great off season with moves that help us win now, but not alter the real key pieces of this team. Sale's next extension will probably be north of $25 mill a year. I think if Jerry was going to open his wallet for an arm, it'd be him
  8. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) Boston has to remove either Victorino or Nava or Craig - Holt is too versatile. Ethier wants out of L.A. Dodgers want to move either Ethier or Crawford's contract. Rasmus is supposedly asking for 11M - do not think anyone will come close to offering him that. We need one very good defensive outfielder, who can spell Eaton. We also need someone who can give us more offensive production than Tank. Perhaps the answer is either a) Aoki and Nava: or b) Rasmus and Nava. In either case, I like Nava because of his versatility. I'd rather pay Tank 4.5 mill than pay Rasmus anything more than that. Same type of player (low obp, high k rate, power potential) except Rasmus can run faster and play defense.
  9. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 06:35 AM) That's a horrible school of thought. Draft picks are highly . luable are the life blood of any good organization. Plus the system needs more depths after the trade for Shark. We didn't lose that much depth. Ynoa is younger than Bassitt, Brantly (who is younger) replaces Phegley and Ravelo was pretty expendable. We did lose Semien but we won't be talking about that if he does bad and/or Johnson or Sanchez plays respectable for us.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) I agree. Hahn and KW has gone this far, sign him and he legitimizes our 1-6. 4 years/55-60 million 1-7* Eaton Cabrera Abreu LaRoche Garcia Gillaspie Ramirez
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 12, 2014 ->05:30 PM) you do have a point about more players being avail. i do like Victorino, but his contract is something i really don't like. If they took back Danks it'd be ideal. Maybe they want another starter for the rotation
  12. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) Don't know if it's already been mentioned here, but if they do end up keeping Viciedo, Seth Smith might be a good option. After getting Kemp, Padres are reportedly trying to get Upton. I have been advocating for him since last off season. Then he went and signed an extension -.-
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 03:38. PM) We've been talking for 2 years, the White Sox are the only ones interested in it now, the mariners aren't any more, which happens to be exactly what you'd expect if the guy struggled for 2 years and had his salary rise to $4 million+. "One more serious" doesn't exactly mean both aren't. Just that one is more open to it now than before.
  14. Also, about 70-80% of the time, there will be a right handed starter on the mound for what its worth
  15. Part of me thinks that if we acquire an outfielder that teams will just wait for the Sox to dfa him
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 06:29 AM) Because he continuously lights them up every time we play them. Its true. It seems like he hits at least 2 homers a series every time we play there
  17. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 04:30 AM) I think he's counting Eaton and Danks, who projectJohmsomDanks fourth outfielder. Still though. Pick up the best available bat and if he happens to bat left handed, add a right handed 4th OF like Ruggiano or Johnson
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:14 PM) The line about too LH makes no sense to me. You have Avi and Eaton out there, with Shuck probably the 4th outfielder. If the Cubs sign Gomes, I wonder if they'd make Ruggiano available? Thats who I was going to suggest too. I was also thinking earlier, lets make another deal with Billy for Coco Crisp!
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) I don't think either of them would bring back enough in a trade to warrant moving them. Keep Petricka as your swing man and Webb as the potential guy who can become a dynamic set up man. I don't really think we're in a position to be trading relief pitchers either way and other teams aren't going to be targeting ours to fix their pens so it's really a moot point. R CL Robertson R SU Petricka L SU Duke R MR Webb L MR Jennings Last two spots between Putnam, Guerra, Onelki Garcia, Surkhamp and whatever retreads we bring in. Any of those guys durable enough to start/long relief? I also think Webb starts the year in the minors
  20. Its kinda funny too that the Dodgers are paying Dee Gordon and Dan Haren's salary in 15 too haha
  21. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) And then that money would pay for a LF or RF? Yeah as you would be clearing like 20 mill off the books moving Viciedo and Danks
  22. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 12:27 PM) Not a Webb fan. Wouldn't have a problem with it. I just hope its not Crawford. I don't think it would be. My idea was that they would attach a good reliever with him to be able to clear all of Danks salary without having to pay any
  23. With all the relievers we are bringing in, I can totally see Hahn trying to get creative on a deal attaching one of Petricka, Putnam, Guerra in a deal with Danks to a team that needs starting pitching and bullpen depth and can take on Danks contract
  24. What a great deal for this team! The way I see it: Bassitt and Ynoa may be a wash as both may end up in the pen, We didn't need Phegley on this team as he couldn't hit or field, Ravelo really didn't have room on this team, but obviously Semien has the most upside out of this group. And then we either extend Samardzija or collect a draft pick for him.
