Cubs-Mets (Better Team) NLCS
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) I wouldn't pay that much for a Blackhawks Stanley Cup game honestly, but I don't particularly like hockey. Hell, I doubt I'd even pay over $1000 for a White Sox World Series game. I just can't justify dropping that much money on a single event when I could watch it for much, much less in the comfort of my own home. You wouldn't but others would. The price for hockey games is insane and why I'll never go again as I am just a casual hockey fan (a Wolves game will be good enough).

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) Was hoping Soler would break this out. In reference to Soler not being big on the cold, I wonder if Soler could be a trade chip for them this off-season (west coast or Texas team). They could move Bryant to RF then.

The cold weather is certainly more favorable to pitchers. It's supposed to be nice out here the next few days. However, the pitching match ups are unfavorable for the Cubs. They needed at least one in New York.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) I'm not seeing it. What are you guys talking about? Lol people pay more attention to stuff they don't want to hear (anything positive about the Cubs in this instance). They've said a lot of good about the Mets staff all post-season

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) TBS guys the whole playoff have a huge case of Cubbie Chubbie! To be fair analysts on all the channels get amped about any team that has a bunch of young guys in its core.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) Could these announcers by any more pro-Cubs? I think they've been fair. Ron Darling actually used to play for the Mets so I think he's pro-Met. Cal Ripken doesn't really talk at all.

MLBTradeRumors Offseason Outlook
God this thread is humorous. Every topic on here lately is just arguing between 2-3 people. I think I'm going on a hiatus from this site for a while. Peace.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) Granderson with an 88% success ratio scoring that runner from third and less than two outs. Why was Montero so far behind home when he caught the ball? Posey Rule or just didn't realize he was too far back to be able to do anything but lunge forward with a tag? Throw was off

MLBTradeRumors Offseason Outlook
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) You know how much I like the idea of trading Q but if the Dodgers offered Puig and Barnes, I'd have a difficult time saying no. Problem is that I have no idea who replaces Q in the rotation with Montas and Fulmer needing time in the minors. Maybe a lesser pitching free agent or an mlb ready pitcher in a Q deal. Some ideas: -Cahill: cheap option. Not really good. Maybe he can be fixed. -Estrada -Fister -Gee -Guthrie -Iwakuma -Lackey -Latos -Norris Now I am by no means saying they can replicate what Q does, but they would still provide depth.

My FA/realistic trade targets for this offeason
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) I live about 20 mins outside of philly so I've had the misfortune of watching a good amount of the Phillies....we don't want Asche as anything other than a utility guy. I don't ever see him being a legit major league hitter. Ah...well that takes care of that then. I just imagine we'll end up plugging 3B with a guy in a similar situation to him or signing Freese or that Korean 3B as to not giving up prospects or anyone from the rotation to fix 3B. I will be a little upset if Saladino, Olt, Davidson, minor league signing/Beckham battle for the position in spring training after months of off-season baseball.

Hahn Confirms: Ventura back for 2016
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 02:19 AM) Not top 4-5, but definitely not LAST. Somewhere in the 5-7 list of priorities. If they had a bench coach who could get through to Puig, I'd definitely take a chance bringing him on board, but that contract's not as attractive as once thought (overall) . 1. 3B 2. Deciding on Ramirez's fate or replacing him 3. C 4. Finding another starting pitcher if they're attempting to compete or deal Q to fix 2-3 areas of need positionally 5. 2B (odds are that it will be Sanchez, unless Johnson just blows everyone in ST away, is greatly improved defensively and he's 100% healthy and not afraid to test his hamstrings/legs.) 6. Ventura/Bell/front office "disorder" straightened out, new bench coach in place 7. RF (once again, this could easily be higher, but my sense is they feel they can muddle through with Avi and Thompson somehow) 8. Replacement for Albers/2nd LH reliever 9. Replacements for Soto/Beckham/Bonifacio Flowers, Saladino, Leury Garcia. Assuming a different starter. The latter two will be cheaper than Beckham and Bonifacio this past year.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 08:27 AM) Yup, I would change it if I could. "Mark Buehrle to retire(?)" Or even: "Mark Buehrle considering retiring."

MLBTradeRumors Offseason Outlook
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 08:18 AM) I'm honestly fine with adding Freese, AC and an impact bat through trade. Maybe even signing Wieters. He isn't getting a McCann type deal. I'd be ok with this. I think it's more likely Wieters takes a one year than gets offered a McCann deal.

Let's change the name of this thread. Nothing is confirmed.

My FA/realistic trade targets for this offeason
Add Cody Asche to the list. Read an article with the emergence of Franco at third and an outfield that keeps getting crowded, he could be an odd man out in Philly. 25, left-handed hitting 3B that could probably be bought low.

NLDS: Dodgers vs. Mets
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) I think the Mets will be tougher than Dodgers, but who starts for NYM on Saturday with deGrom and Syndergaard going today? Harvey. Syndergaard could likely go Sunday. This is basically a side session.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) Garza netted the Cubs Justin Grimm, Carl Edwards and Mike Olt. Not exactly earthshattering or franchise changing. He also cost them Chris Archer. And Neil Ramirez. Basically half their bullpen.

How do robot umps work exactly? How about without adding lots of time to the game?

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) I don't remember many articles about the Sox going to the WS after we swept the ALDS in 2005. Hell, World Series talk didn't really start until after game 4 of the ALCS, when it was pretty evident the Sox had the series in the bag. Yeah idk. Probably has more to do with them being so irrelevant lately whereas the sox for the most part have had a competitive team (minus last 3 years and like 2007). I guess you can say we were held at at a higher standard where winning is just expected of us?

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) You'd think for a fanbase who has seen so much losing and so many postseason collapses, they would, you know, be more discrete and superstitious about all of it. Ageee. Wait to beat them first haha
-
Cubs-Cards NLDS
The cringe-worthy thing about reading many posts on here, is that if the sox ever go back to the playoffs, people on here would be making excuses for the the people that are being accused of being bandwagoners. If someone is happy about their team winning, than who cares? Do we have nothing better or important to worry about than people being happy over a team winning? In the end, who cares its just a game. It's not like they're the first team to ever have bandwagon fans. Literally every team in the postseason does.

Bad umpiring
QUOTE (Coach @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 07:37 AM) I have only watched the Cubs-Carddnals series. I have seen so many bad calls for strikes clearly out of the zone. Anyone see the other games to comment? Watching other games, the zone has been bad all over.

A 3B from Korea may be posted this off-season. Since there are basically no free agents at third this off-season (unless they sign someone like Freese in hope of him breaking out/bouncing back at a cheap cost) and the only way I see us upgrading it is by moving Q or other valuable pieces (prospects: few good ones we have), I think he can be an interesting option since it would only cost money. And looking at the numbers our 3B put up this year, he could probably do better than that. I would expect him to sign for about Kang money if he I'd posted.
