T.J. Rivera of the Mets is pretty interesting to me. Experience at second, short and third, light bat but has hit at every level in the minors, doesn't strike out a lot and gets on base at a nice clip. Downside is that hes already 27. Kind of odd he never got a shot with the Mets. Maybe they're hoping he can slide through the draft? I think someone would definitely take him as a backup infielder at least.

Freeing up the money and acquiring young players would be nice. Edit: also, didn't he turn down more money from them to come to us? Or am I remembering incorrectly. The point of me mentioning that is they wouldn't mind taking on what he has remaining if they had offered even more in the first place.

I'd actually be fine with that deal haha I'm the one who's suggested Villanueva a few times on here. (This was in regards to Villanueva Vogelbach for Johnson offer). But I would think the Cubs would be more likely to just call up Pierce Johnson who honestly looks good himself judging by minor league numbers.
