JB Shuck Added to 25 Man Roster
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) With all the secrecy around some guys, I wonder what deals the team is trying to make before the roster moves all come down. Probably whoever we want off the 40 for cash considerations.

Blue Jays claim Andy Wilkins
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) Wilkins is quite a bit closer to a big league player than Black, IMO. I don't think he said otherwise.

Blue Jays claim Andy Wilkins
They have Andy LaRoche for the roll too

Who's on Second?
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) I still wouldn't mind if sox came out and gave to Sanchez. I would appreciate having strong D up the middle when we have horrendous D on the corners. With Micah's stats declining a bit, I'm kind of leaning this way too. And he's already on the 40.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Putnam and Duke, depending on matchups. Who would make the roster assuming we go with 4 starters and 8 relievers (Sale and Petricka on dl to start year for few games)? Robertson Putnam Duke Guerra Jennings Albers Drabek and one more

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Jacob Petricka still feels sore. Knows it's clean. Irritated because he just has to let arm rest. #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/582250436998004736 Petricka still dealing with moderate soreness. Not looking likely for Opening Day, which is 8 days away. https://twitter.com/ESPNChiSox/status/582250562755956736 Robin Ventura says Micah Johnson has "done well enough to be the leading guy" for second-base job. But he's not naming him starter yet. https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/582250943837646848 So basically he's the starter

Blue Jays claim Andy Wilkins
So basically it was Drabek for Wilkins

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Doug Padilla @ESPNChiSox 18m18 minutes ago Expect W Sox to follow same plan y'all. RT @MikeDiGiovanna: #Angels will open season with four starters and 12 pitchers. Interesting. Makes sense. I've already explained it lol it will only be for like 6 games

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 12:47 AM) What does this even mean? Surkamp isn't making the team because he's not one of the best seven relievers. I think they break with 8 with Sale coming off dl April 12. Don't think it makes sense not to start him on dl like this considering he would only miss his opening day start and his roster spot isn't needed til he starts.

The 25-man right now
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) We don't need three lefties in the bullpen, sorry. Not saying long-term. He'd just get sent down prior to Sundays game when Sale comes off dl since all signs point to him starting on dl (retroactive to about now). They'd go from 4 starters 8 relievers to 5 starters 7 relievers

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) We're getting close. 5 days until they leave Arizona. Pretty safe to say we know the lineup: Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, LaRoche, Garcia, Ramirez, Gillaspie, Flowers, Johnson Bench: Bonifacio, Beckham, Shuck, Soto Rotation: Samardzija, Quintana, Danks, Noesi Bullpen: Albers, Surkamp, Guerra, Jennings, Putnam, Petricka, Duke, Robertson DL: Sale, Crain Still to be cut: Asencio, Beck, Carroll, Drabek, E Johnson, Leon, Penny, Rodon, Cleto, Kottaras, Sanchez, Beltre With Johnson, Soto, and Albers being added to the 40-man, I would guess Drabek is a good bet to be outrighted or traded, and if I had to guess a third...maybe Wilkins? My changes are bolded. I would like for them to have a third lefty in the pen (even if it is only for 5 games) so you can play matchups more in the first series with the Royals.

ST 3/28 Sox vs A's 3:05 start
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Matt Lindstrom was released by the Angels today. I would welcome him back with both arms. If he's healthy I hope the White Sox sign him. On a minor league deal, why not?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) If Flowers is really bad, they'll trade for someone, or go with whomever of Soto, Smith, Brantly or Nieto seems most likely to be better. And it is impossible to know right now which it would be. I would say Soto is starting games by June, whoever we trade for in July.

Gillaspie has had planter fasciitis
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) When your bench is Nieto, Leury, Sierra, and Paulie, platoons are kind of tough. Its ironic you say that since two of those guys were platooned for the most part (Sierra/De Aza and Dunn/Paulie). He just meant in general over the years but your example was from a team that actually used them.

Gillaspie has had planter fasciitis
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) Conor had a good year last year, at least a good first few months, but 3B has to be an upgrade priority for Hahn IMO. Too bad they couldn't expand the deal with Oakland to add Donaldson. He would be worth giving up a couple of decent prospects. Wasn't Donaldson traded before the trade though?
-
Gillaspie has had planter fasciitis
I assume if Gillaspie got hurt, then it would be Bonifacio/Beckham

Samardzija said he's not looking for "top dollar'' in
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) Then answer this. If he plays out the season, really likes playing for the White Sox but they offer him $20 million less than another team he has never played for, so any of this "getting to know each other" would start all over again, do you really think he would sign with the White Sox? The fact is, he says he has to "get to know" the White Sox, but when he is a free agent, unless he signs with a team he has already played with, he already knows more about the White Sox, than he does that team. It is about the money. The White Sox may be able to be short, but only slightly. You don't risk what he is risking carrying this out to free agency if money isn't one of the highest priorities. He can sign right now for more money than he or a couple of generations of his family will ever need. All these "reading between the lines" posts are fantasy. He said he doesn't want to discuss a contract during the season. He wants to be a free agent. That isn't a guy who seems destined to stay. Not disagreeing I was just answering whoever I quoted. Just because he says its not about the money doesn't mean he should prove it and sign now. He can sign a month or two from now. But I agree that it is about the money.

Samardzija said he's not looking for "top dollar'' in
QUOTE ( @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) I'm calling BS on this. If he wasn't looking for "top dollar" in a contract, he would've signed an extension with the Sox already. Not true. He wants to get to know everyone longer and get a feel for the organization. That doesn't mean he should go sign a lesser deal now.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) Maddon said in an interview that if the pitcher is a decent hitter, he will do this alot. Something in the analytics shows it is more effective for scoring runs. I think he said to it depends on if they trust a pitcher stay longer in the game too. 5-7 possibly inning guy would hit 9th and someone able to possibly stay in the game longer 8th with someone in the 9 spot to get on base for top/middle of the order.
