I wouldn't mind giving a shot at him and see if he can hit. If he can, you have Abreu and him at 1B / DH. This is all presuming the price is right.

October 28, 201510 yr Was Iguchi that much more of a star in Japan? Obviously, Japan was/is stronger in terms of overall talent, but the gap is closing year after year. The positional flexibility issue is a big concern, though. We already have Cabrera, Garcia, Abreu, LaRoche, Olt, Davidson, Soto and even Micah that all might be best suited for the DH role.

Probably not quite what Abreu got but something like 4 years $40M wouldn't surprise me at all. Obviously there is always the fear that he'll be a complete bust, but the middle ground of him having 20-30 HR power with the ability to hit better than .250/.330 is still plenty worth $10 million a year in the present free agent market. With all that said, I don't see us going after a 1b/dh type

All goes back to our original points...what do the scouts say. I think their are enough uncertainties regarding the talent level in the Korean league that it is unlikely this guy is getting some mega deal, unless of course he is just off the charts from a tools perspective. Just imagine Andy Wilkins in the Korean league.

I think Abreu propelled it to it's height. Castillo, Tomas and Moncada all got bigger deals because of Abreu. And every time a Korean is posted, I think of how badly I wanted to get Kang for 3B last year

If the White Sox weren't stuck with LaRoche they could probably afford $53 million, but that's a lot for someone relatively unproven from the KBO. Yankees are also interested.
