True. I don’t have the idea of LaStella and was definitely on the wagon of signing him last year (and then Brad Miller after he signed with SF).

Better have a good backup IF if you want to bank on LaStella though.

If Semien stuck with Sox, he would have been a free agent before this season so it’s not like it’s some guarantee he would have been a factor this year. It would have been nice to trade him at some point in the rebuild though after one of his great seasons.

I think there was a group in the off-season that said they should sign another corner OF left handed bat even after they signed Eaton (Schwarber, Rosario, Peterson, etc) so they could have Vaughn start in the minors. Obviously with the injuries, there would have been a path for Vaughn to make the MLB team after a great spring anyway. With how much he ended up sitting at the beginning of the season, I kinda would have preferred him starting in the minors and gaining that extra year of control.

Abreu (never going to get traded as long JR is owner), Moncada, Kopech and Eloy are probably on this list too.

Unless a former player of this current Astros team says something in a couple years we may unfortunately never find out for sure.

Honestly, I’m thinking Romy can be this kind of guy with his versatility. If you sign Taylor, he’s likely your 2B.

I don’t know, to me it feels like Vaughn or Sheets will be moved if I had to guess. They could try to make it work for a year and go with a deeper bench (5 with a 7-man pen) with Sheets serving as a left-handed 1B/COF bench bat ala Ross Gload.

They could have done that this year with all the injuries and large hole in RF. They didn’t. It’s pretty clear they’re not high on him as a regular outfield option.

If a tough righty is on the mound, Vaughn I guess? Or in the scenario where you have Grandal at DH/1B, Vaughn goes to RF? The only thing that sucks about that is weakening defense though.

Yeah there might be some GM that shrugs off his struggles with the Sox and thinks he can be good closer. I just wouldn’t expect a high return, especially if we don’t eat any salary.
