Random hypothetical question (kind of on-topic in another thread) but if Mendick got hurt in this game, would we have seen Moncada shift over to 2B or would have Vaughn have played 2B do you think?

I tend to agree. He'll easily be below average and just in for the bat. Having said that, I have no problem having him DH and split 1B with Abreu with occasional starts at 3B with Moncada DHing to give him a break.

We're talking about defense here. And anyway, we don't even know if Burger would hit in the majors at this point.

I think he's more deserving of a spot that Goodwin for sure.

I figured out earlier this week if they put him on the 10-day IL after the first game against the Twins next week, he would only miss 5 games (Sox play 5: 2 against Twins 3 against O's) due to an off day and the All-Star break and he would be back for a 3-game series against the Astros.

I really wish the trade deadline would be pushed back to at least mid-August.

Right? Moncada is not as good at 2B as he is third so why downgrade two positions by moving him?

Without reading the article, just throwing to 3B on a steal attempt and having to turn your body is enough reason to not have a lefty catcher.
