  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) Is the rumor confirmed that there is nothing to see here? Yes.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) I would just like to say that I would like us signing Park. His contract isn't a big deal, and he hits the ball hard when he hits it. Except we won't be able to sign him for some time. He's off the Twins for 40-man roster and paying him so there is no reason for them to release him if they can keep him in AAA.
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) I'm pretty sure it's against forum policy to not provide a link in that case. lol
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) How about the timing on this one from Sears? Its like he was intentionally trying to show chili he was making s*** up. If there was any question before he cleared that up pretty damn quickly. Anything or anyone associated with sportsmockery isnt credible at all. They have this really attractive woman who works there that does like Facebook live updates (so legit haha). She's a great snapchat follow. Total smokeshow. When she said she worked for Sports Mockery I just couldn't help but shake my head haha
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) Park doesn't have the status to reject the assignment. That's why it made no sense Minnesota would release him if he cleared. They have to pay him anyway. I kinda got at that. My last sentence touches that. Was getting at maybe Sox wanted him but thought he might get claimed. I knew he wasn't eligible to reject it.
  6. Maybe the tweet meant to say "Sox trying work out a deal with the Twins for Park." Like a Park for cash considerations or PTBNL" type of deal. Teams do that when a player is in DFA status and can reject an assignment to the minors knowing that another team can claim or sign him (after he's released).
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) So it's an all or nothing type thing? Park wasn't any good last year but I'd still take a chance on him. He's not extremely old and he isn't paid much. Yeah.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) What is really funny about this is if you search White Sox and Park on twitter, this is the tweet that comes immediately before Sears. Charles the Cat™ ‏@CharlsMeow 35m35 minutes ago Source: @whitesox working out a deal for recently DFA'd Byung Ho Park. #meow #mlbinsder Source = Charles the Cat lol
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Maybe they'll claim him. I wouldn't be opposed to it. Let him go unclaimed. I don't think any team is going to take on his contract. While not a big deal, he was awful last year.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) I am stunned at the lack of activity with the White Sox. I am glad they aren't settling, but I highly doubt the offseason rebuild plan was trade Sale and Eaton for some prospects, get a couple of guys off waivers, sign Geo Soto, call it an offseason. That's pretty much it. I thought they at least would have made another trade or two , even minor, and would have signed some more intriguing Spring Training invites. Not a lot of teams need a 3B or corner OF it seems. It was very quiet all off-season on the Frazier and Melky fronts. As for Quintana, Robertson and Jones, it doesn't seem that any team is willing to pay the price...yet.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-biggest...till-out-there/ I think Cameron's idea of picking up de la Rosa for super cheap and trying him out as a middle reliever is intriguing. If he's any good he could definitely be an interesting deadline trade piece, especially since he's left-handed. Thoughts? Sure. Why not?
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) A guy I worked with knows a Reinsdorf and got some freebies in 2005 front row behind the Sox dugout. He invited me. Buerhle pitched. It went 1 hour 39 minutes. Sox won 2-1. Paulie hit 2 homers. The vendors were not happy. Against Seattle? I was there with my dad, brother and uncle. Buehrle gave up 2 hits I think (both to Ichiro). Was also at the Home Opener in 05 which I believe was just under 2 hours. Edit: It was really fun when Buehrle and Sale faced each other in 15 I think it was.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) So I saw Drob and melky did I miss anyone? (insert James Shields gif)
  14. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) Good thing Frazier doesn't apply just in case he stays for the entire 2017 season. There is absolutely no reason to not trade Melky and Robertson at some point before next offseason now. Yeah, even if he was eligible and the Sox offered a QO, I don't think Melky would reject it. Robertson we have 2 years btw.

  16. I don't mind this for minor league games. Really doesn't matter if a minor league team wins or loses. It's not really needed at the MLB level. The only way I may accept it is if maybe having the rule go into effect after the 12th inning? Those long games aren't fun when you run out of pitchers and use the next day's starters or bench players. If anything, they should expand active rosters by 2-3 spots.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) That's the problem with all these guys. There are too many of them and the phonies give the guys with real sources bad names. You aren't going to be correct all the time, but some things are pretty easy to see, or you can hear sports radio in another town on the internet talking about a possibility you haven't heard before, throw it out there, it happens, suddenly you are sourced. It is unfair IMO to the sourced. Last year with no sources, I said the Sox would sign Alex Avila it was pretty obvious. A week later they signed him. I should have put it on Twitter, I would have been a star. Right. Everyone was already pegging the Royals to sign Hammel before Ventura passed away. It was just a no-brainer after.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) Red Sox sign Carlos Quentin. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/red-...os-quentin.html Wtf lol Turns out there's no invite to MLB spring training camp and he's lost 40 pounds.
  19. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) It's snowing now. Where?
  20. Red Sox sign Carlos Quentin. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/red-...os-quentin.html Wtf lol
  21. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) Ah yes, that does make sense. It will be interesting to see how they allocate their resources this season and next offseason, both cash resources and prospect resources. Yes it will be. I could totally see them adding a starter next off-season (along with maybe Q if he is still around at the deadline this year or next off-season) and then signing a bat (Harper or Machado) in the following off-season. I think Gardner is a free agent at that point as well. He's not making a ton but every bit of savings helps.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) I could see this. With regard to ARod and CC, they may free up $46 mil, but Tanaka plus Arrieta/Cueto would probably cost more than $50 mil/year combined, thus increasing payroll overall. Well you'd also have to subtract out Tanaka's $22 mill from the 2017 payroll (he's signed for longer, but has the opt-out which he would likely do if he pitches good and is healthy) so it would actually be less. So after this year if he opts out, its actually a $68 mill difference from what they are now to next off-season without Tanaka, A-Rod and CC. Edit: if that makes sense haha
  23. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) Hey Houston... 2016 Stats of Napoli (New TEX Ranger) vs Quintana http://www.rotowire.com/baseball/vsbatter.htm?id=12329 22 4 .182 1 0 1 3 2 9 0 1 .364 .250 .614 God, those Cespedes numbers. So much damage in only 19 PAs.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) You mean so they could trade for Q and have control of him for several years and then resign Tanaka after the season is over? That's a good idea for them. Yeah like what they did with Chapman. They also wouldn't need to give up a pick to sign Tanaka as opposed to another option. Check out my edited post.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Cueto and Arrieta are the big names net offseason, and they will cost a crap ton. Plus the Yankees will have to deal with resigning Tanaka. If they're concerned with the luxury tax, I would think it would be easier for the Yankees to bring in a modestly-priced Quintana than try to make the numbers work for Tanaka and one of Cueto/Arrieta. Maybe they end up dealing Tanaka if he is doing good for prospects at the deadline to have more depth for a Q trade? Based on their trades last season, it seems like they're into that. I don't think it's impossible for them to have interest, I just don't see it until around mid-season. Step 1: Trade Tanaka for prospects Step 2: Trade prospects for Quintana Step 3: Sign a starter in free agency in the off-season Worth mentioning A-Rod and CC are off the books for them after this season ($46 mill).
