QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 20, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) It had to be the Pirates and Yankees three way trade. Yankees ownership backed out last minute on Xmas Eve. I'll bet it was something like: Pirates get Quintana Yankees get Cutch Sox get Glasnow + Frazier + significantly more What a terrible deal for the Yankees. Who knows how close this even was. Who knows, a deal that fell through last minute could potentially be another one we never heard rumors of. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 19, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) I can't imagine the Sox being the worst team in baseball this year. The Reds are going to lose 100 games. This guy will probably be depositing a lot of balls in the Ohio. Padres look like they can go 50-112 pretty easily.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 19, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) Most of Soxtalk loved the trade. Swisher was a power guy high OBP. His only year with the Sox, they did win the division . Wasn't on Soxtalk at the tine but yes, I did like the deal. In hindsight, however, bad trade.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 19, 2017 -> 01:19 AM) Are you guys talking running in the open world? I assume that must be harder than on an elliptical, because after 7 years and being quite out of shape, I did a little over 2 miles in 17 minutes. Probably could have reached the 3rd mile by minute 26 or so. I doubt I'm somehow a skilled runner, just going to assume elliptical is easier. I do treadmill with a slight slope. During the week, I go to the gym at 5am. Been busier at work past couple weeks and it's been making it more difficult to wake up early but it's going to die down now.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 19, 2017 -> 01:37 AM) What's wrong with Gio Gonzalez. That dude is a quality #3 starter. He's been a 3+ WAR pitcher for 7 straight years. Never had less than 27 starts in a year, and even threw in a really good 5 WAR season in 2012. The dude has carved out a really nice career. He could reach 40 career WAR, which would put his career right around Dan Haren, Derek Lowe, Chris Carpenter. Right? Dude's been a good starting pitcher his whole career. Regressed a bit the past few but still. Would have loved for him to pitch here.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 10:05 PM) This week I ran both 3 miles in 24 min and a 7:30 mile. Couldn't be happier. I'm at about 32 mins. I haven't run in a while so I feel pretty good about it myself.

Flowers may be a good pitch framer, but man was he terrible at blocking pitches in the dirt.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 07:13 PM) Lol, looks like Lawrie to me. Lol
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) Before I comment further can I ask why Dunn and Lawrie? Huh?

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 03:59 PM) He's the kind of dbag who would show up on a rec softball league and ruin the fun. With all this special equipment and gear like it makes a huge difference haha (exactly what he did)

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) Lol why is Adam Dunn on the banner? Maybe it was the only submission lol

Sox taking it slow with Rodon during ST

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 03:37 PM) What's John Danks up to? Signed with the Braves to a minor league deal haha -
QUOTE (heirdog @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) I believe he had the caveat "...unless there is an injury" and report from Chicago media earlier this winter was that White Sox would bring in another starter if there was a trade to ensure the young arms aren't rushed up to fill a hole. Although a minors deal and with Rodon speculation (which has proven to be nothing)...take your pick. I'm not sure he was serious in his post. Also, gotta factor in that they're going to lose some depth due to the WBC so there will be extra playing time out there.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Definitely saw this as Hoiberg at first. Why not Zoidberg? -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 01:24 PM) You're right in that regard, but Schwarber looks like he has a clue as to what he's doing out there, even if there are severe athletic limitations. Garcia is as lost as anyone could ever be, other than maybe Lastings Milledge. Had so much hope when they brought that guy in on a minor league deal to platoon with Juan Pierre (I think?) at the time haha

1. Shields 2. Gonzalez 3. Holland 4. Free agent signing. 5. Covey SOMEONE has to be decent enough to flip in the 1-4 slots, right? RIGHT!? -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) Imagine if Q is traded and Rodon is hurt. We could be looking at a Shields/Gonzalez/Holland/Covey/TBA rotation. Holy f***. It would suck losing Rodon for any amount of time but holy tank. -

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) If by 2020 we are not at least a .500 team then the rebuild has not been done the right way 2017 and 2018 are total write offs, likely 2019 we should be seeing some progress, 2020 we need to be .500 or better Your estimates are reasonable, but we all should hope they turn out better than that ? The draft spot in 2020 is based on the 2019 season. I didn't say anything about the results of the 2020 season lol -

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Fans need to be prepared for three rough seasons, but with 2020-2023 behind our prime window to contend 2017 = awful 2018 = subpar, but slight improvement 2019 = on the right track, ideally get back to .500 2020-2023 contenders Hopeful draft pick spots: 2017: #11 obviously 2018: Top 3 (if everything goes right, #1) 2019: Top 6 or 7? 2020: 10-15 range, inching closer Obviously if we end up becoming good enough for contention sooner, than even better. But yeah, I'm expecting at least 3 bad/mediocre seasons. Guys gotta get through some growing pains. Not everyone will just come up and click right away. -
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 10:18 PM) How about a Survivor themed banner, one with Q, Robertson, Frazier, Jones, Melky, and a torch in front of all of them. As they get traded over the next 12 months, we update the banner with an extinguished flame and silhouette. This one has my vote.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
Bob Sacamano replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If its one of those "Best players right now" type of lists where it basically just goes off the previous season, you have Lester at 5.3 WAR in 2016, Sale at 4.9 and Arrieta at 3.4. So just looking at that, it is a little curious that Arrieta would be ahead of him.
