  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) I said it when it happened and I'll say it now - Diaz as the last piece in the Sale deal is extremely underwhelming. I have no idea why the Sox didn't take a hitter over him. I'm sure they wanted another hitter. At the very least, I wanted a starting pitcher prospect as the 4th piece.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:12 AM) Me either. I'd be shocked if Q went there. Q would be a nice addition for them but that would mean that they'd be giving the White Sox almost their entire system between the Sale/Q deals and I don't think that will happen. Yeah I don't think Q goes to Nats or Red Sox. Robertson to Nats and Frazier to Boston? Sure.
  3. I can't see the Red Sox wanting to give up even more of their prospects. But for discussion purposes, what would a Quintana Frazier package look like? I assume Devers, Groome, Travis to start.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:05 AM) I'll always remember Asche for his perennial contributions to the franchise. He will be missed. We always have the banner to remember those contributions to the tank.
  5. Makes sense. I've been suggesting he could go down for another bullpen arn for at least 2 weeks.
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:16 AM) Is it June 12th yet? What does June 12th have to do with Seth Beer?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) Cubs gave up nothing special to get him. Someone like Lowry might have worked. Gave up international slot money as well.
  8. Had to go out of town but wanted to go to this game to get a clock and sell it. Oh well.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) Wish the Sox were more aggressive going after Butler. Much better chance of figuring things out than Covey What would you have traded for him?
  10. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 12, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) Think about it from a contender's point of view right now Would you give up anything of significance for Kahnle, even if he continues to be dominant the next month or two? It's still such a small sample size that it would be very hard to justify given his track record Agreed, theres no way anyone would give up anything big for him. Let's see him for a couple full years before writing him into the future bullpen and decide if it was mistake not trading him for anything we could get.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) I don't remember the exact numbers, and I'm sure someone will find the exact numbers for me too, but Burdi has thrown like 100 innings and hasn't experienced a full year of pro ball. I imagine he'll be up at some point this year, but he falls in line with the whole "have a prospect struggle and making adjustments before calling them up." His adjustment is literally going to be pitching for a full season out of a bullpen. He is among the least likely I view to be called up at this point. In fact, I could see them calling him up for September and then waiting until mid May or June of 2018 to call him up full time to gain another full year of control. Among the main prospects, as a full-time call up, I think it'll be Lopez, Fulmer, or Moncada. I'd put my money on Fulmer, but I'm not much of a betting man. I have a feeling it will be Fulmer too. Hopefully the Sox can pull off a deal with Holland or Gonzalez and Fulmer steps into the open slot.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) Surprised to see so many Burdi mentions. Wouldn't be shocked if we don't see him until September. Yeah not really any room for him currently, even with guys hurt.
  13. QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) Contract: Free Agent in 2021 Stats are absolutely mindboggling and dominating (best in baseball for xFIP.. currently has a NEGATIVE 0.15FIP) Fangraphs love: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-white-s...-on-the-planet/ So what do we do about this guy going forward? If he truly has figured it out then we have him for when we should be competing again. A back end of Burdi and Kahnle throwing 100mph+ sounds like the bullpen will be dominant for years to come. Of course, hard throwing bullpen arms come at a risk and this start is a small sample size. So what do you hope Rick Hahn does here? Trade him at the deadline or keep him? Hope to trade him for something good. If there aren't any good offers, keep him for now.
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Which might mean that the Nats won't buy until the deadline. There appears to be zero competition in that division, so they only need to load up for the playoffs. Yeah Mets in second place a game under .500. Yuck.
  15. At what point is it considered too soon to add Marte in fantasy and stash him on your bench? I'm thinking about doing this in about 3-4 weeks (unless someone in one of my leagues gambles sooner).
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 12, 2017 -> 10:20 AM) I would even do something like Gonzalez and Swarzak for Candelario. Candelario has no place to play on the Cubs, but he'd be perfect for the Sox. He's tearing up AAA too. He can get time if they decide to play Bryant in the OF more but that would likely mean someone like Schwarber or Jay isn't playing everyday.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ May 12, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Jon Heyman‏Verified account @JonHeyman 5m5 minutes ago More David Robertson is dealing -- and not only nats but their rival mets need a closer now @DRob30 Something tells me they won't be buying at the deadline.
  18. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) This is totally random, and apropos of nothing, but is there any advanced stat that accounts for SBs when looking at a player's OPS? The way I'm thinking about it, if a player gets a single and then steals a base, that could be looked at as a double. Therefore, someone like Billy Hamilton, who is 19 for 21 in SB attempts, adds a net value of +17 once on base. So, while his normal OPS is a mediocre .671, his SB-adjusted OPS (SB differential + TBs / ABs) is a pretty solid .793. What do ya'll think? That is interesting to think about. SBOPS?
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) I think the Mets are throwing in the towel this season. If Addison Reed does well as replacement closer, I bet the Sox could get him for a fringe prospect. Maybe the Mets would take Matt Davidson? Thought this was serious until the bolded lol
  20. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 11, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) It really takes a lot for me to hate any movie but GOTG 2 did the trick. It felt like a series of sketches and bits. There were a lot of jokes and while that isn't a bad thing but a lot of them fell flat for me. And there were so many jokes that they got annoying after the first half hour of the movie. Before you could comprehend a joke, a new one would be introduced immediately. And some of the gags went overboard like when Rocket was bouncing the Ravengers. I like Kurt Russell and his character seemed interesting but he was only used to deliver exposition. And when it was revealed that he was the villain it felt so unearned not just because his character was so one note but because his villainy was never hinted at and built towards. I know there was a scene of Mantis trying to warn Drax and the scene where Nebula and Gamora find the cavern with the skeletons but nothing came from Ego himself. In The Dark Knight, although everyone knows that Harvey Dent will eventually become Two-Face but it felt earned because the movie set up his character and showed how conflicted he is and showed how he's willing to blur the line between lawful and unlawful to get things done. When Ego reveals himself as the bad guy, it was like it came out of nowhere, like he decided on a whim..."I'm bad now". And the scene where they play catch? That was one of the stupidest things that I've ever seen. I cringed the whole time. The music itself was great but it felt a little unnatural compared to the first film, like they were forcing it. The action stuff was good, along with the cinematography, colors and costumes. Overall the film felt plotless. The second act was terrible as it did drag and there was little tension and conflict throughout the whole movie. I'm glad that people like it and really enjoyed themselves but I thought it was bad, which is a shame because I love the first one and James Gunn's other movies I do kind of agree. The Ego stuff was uninteresting. The best parts were with the ravagers. And to your point in the bolded, it comes off that way because he believed what he was doing was right. He didn't really come off as an antagonist until it was revealed what he wanted to do and Peter disagreed with him.
  21. Anyone try adding external hard drive to their ps4 yet?
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2017 -> 05:56 PM) The Cubs are definitely going to have to make a big trade for pitching at some point. Not to mention Contreras has been disappointing, Heyward slumped after the hot start...and their pitching looks like what we speculated Houston would have pre-season. Eventually, Zobrist will hit a wall with his age, too. Have you seen his numbers? He basically has.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 10, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) Do the reporters even ask Hahn about Tilson, or have they also forgotten he is a White Sox? Not gonna lie, I always forget he exists.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) The 10 day DL makes it so much easier to manage a roster. Agreed. In my fantasy league, I'm kind of kicking myself for not making our league with 5 DL spots instead of 3 since MLB teams will put guys on the 10-day dl more.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) Davidson has already started his slide back to normalcy going 2 of his last 26, 8K, 4BB Even better: keep Abreu at 1B, move Melky to DH (if not traded), and play W. Garcia in LF.
