  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Yeah, signing him is obviously the most unrealistic part of that lineup but I can dream, right? Wanted to add this to my post, but his first year in a new deal would be his age 26-season. He's looking at a 10+ year deal easy with an opt-out at around his age 29/30 (4 and 5th year of the deal) season to try to grab a 7-8 year deal.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) There's a ton of variables to this, but what if the Sox had a future lineup of: 1. Anderson (SS) 2. Moncada (2B) 3. Beer (1B) 4. Machado (3B) 5. Collins © 6. Abreu (DH) 7. Frazier/Rutherford (RF) 8. Robert (LF) 9. Mateo (CF) That would be insane. I think he is going to get paid closer to the contract Harper wants than Harper lol and he deserves it more. Machado will likely get the contract Stanton got (probably more).
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) is the / operative as a "and" or a "or" Honestly because I like Rutherford a lot, I think Rutherford/Kaprellian/Mateo/diaz-type is pretty good to me. It's an "or"
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) I know everyone is down on Mateo but I think he is someone that could easily be tried in CF and becomes a less risky prospect. What about Frazier/Rutherford, Mateo, Andujar, Fowler and Montgomery? Edit: this idea is already basically above
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) That's it? I thought the Yankees potential interest in Q was common knowledge by now. Yeah haha
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) Would someone please tell me what is in the link in the original post? I can't see it. Quoted right above your post for the most part.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) Um, duh. I felt the same haha Sox scouts are likely everywhere. Kinda seems like a non-news story. We've known they've been connected for a while.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) Notes untouchables. I personally am warning to Frazier and Rutherford as headliners. I could see them moving one or the other as they are both OF. Also depends on how they feel about Aaron Judge in a corner spot. Ellsbury is pretty much a lock in CF (eventually LF) over the next 5 years. Edit: just checked. 4 years of Ellsbury. The 5th year is an option with a $5 mill buyout in 2021.
  9. PS4 big update is out. Can finally store games on an external hard drive.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 09:50 AM) When does the DL open up, and will it leave time for that to work? I'm not sure but they did that with Sale. Put him on the dl and brought him back to start what the 5th or 6th game that season?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) I think the worst news for Everth Cabrera, is that he is still Everth Cabrera. Lmao
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) I'm going 13 pitchers to start. OF- Cabrera, Tilson, Garcia, Bourjos IF- Frazier, Anderson, Saladino, Sanchez, Abreu, Davidson C- Narvaez, Soto SP- Quintana, Shields, Holland, Gonzalez, Rodon BP- Covey, Ynoa, Luebke, Petricka, Putnam, Jennings, Jones, Robertson Rodon likely isn't making a start until 5th or 6th game (per Levine). I expect him to start on dl and for them to carry an extra reliever (break camp with 4 starters and 8 or 9 relievers sending one down when Rodon starts 5th game?).
  13. Listening to The Score, Bruce Levine reported Rodon won't start until the 5th or 6th game of the regular season. I guess they can put him on dl towards end of Spring Training, carry another reliever, and then take him off dl and send down a guy when he makes his start (similar to what they did with Sale in '15).
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 02:06 PM) FutureSox @FutureSox The #WhiteSox signed 28yo utility player Tyler Ladendorf to a MiLB deal per @BaseballAmerica. 2008 2nd rd pick, last w/OAK, has 45 MLB games Could be bad news for Everth Cabrera? He is likely filler/bench player and plays more positions.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 04:21 PM) Liriano adjusting batting gloves after taking pitches. That has to stop in baseball. As long as it doesn't delay the game, it doesn't really matter. I doubt the pitcher is waiting on him to readjust his gloves.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) What channel are these games on? MLB network? Yeah and MLBTV.
  17. I can't believe we are beating this horse 3+ months later.
  18. QUOTE (5+6=Perfection @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Avi struggles with a hard hit ball to right and turns a single into a double. Mid-season form.
  19. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Eh, about on par with my PS4 purchases. The only reason I have more PS4 games is I usually get every other version of The Show and Madden. Do Sony and Microsoft really have 6-7 must-have exclusive games? No. edit: i'm not trying to argue Nintendo is better. I much prefer my PS4. But Nintendo is what it is at this point and I know that going in. If you got duped by the Wii or Wii U that's on you. They've been in the "we only care about our properties and don't care to compete for big name titles" corner since the Gamecube. Last of Us and Uncharted 1-4 are must own if you have a PS4 (first 3 come in a set). And as you mentioned, The Show will always be awesome.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) Personally, I'll never buy a Nintendo console again. I was a little disappointed by GameCube, but felt completely ripped off by the Wii. What a piece of trash. Played a lot of Super Smash Bros: Melee on that thing with my friends. Well worth it. Also, Resident Evil REmake was on that system. Amazing game. Now that I think about it, kind of weird that it was on Nintendo lol Also, 007: Nightfire multiplayer was so fun. So many good memories of that system with my friends.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) No, but usually if you invest $60 million on a 21 year old many think is the best prospect in baseball, that $60 million investment will be more than enough if the other stuff isn't enough, to keep him around, and off any table re: trades. They paid that money for his cheap seasons. You can look at it another way. The 3 years on Sale's contract cost them an extra $62 million. So he is a $30+ million a year guy in reality now. The price for the bargain vanishes. Between what the paid Mocada and what the owe Sale, Boston shells out $100 million for 3 years of service. I do have a feeling he wouldn't have been available had Dombrowski been the one who signed him. 100% agreed. He didn't bring him in (along with most of the other top prospects they've dealt away the past season +) so there's no attachment to him.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) Uh...the Red Sox did before the trade. The Nationals before the Eaton deal as well, maybe the Dodgers, Brewers, Padres, Braves, and Yankees too. My point isn't that Hahn got robbed in this trade. Moncada and Kopech at the front end were great gets. I'm simply saying he probably could've gotten one more impact piece had he been a little more persistent in the negotiations. That's just it though. Not every team wants to deal away that much. This is likely the best offer they received. All we heard was reluctance to part with guys from the Yankees and Braves side (doubt either interest was sincere enough). Dodgers, Brewers and Padres were never connected. Nationals are moot since we received 2 of them the next day. That leaves only Red Sox. Red Sox don't have to pay 3 top 50 guys if the best offer for Sale (their's) only includes 2.
  23. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) There are 30 MLB teams, how many have 3 top 50 prospects? Good point. Some don't even have 1.
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) Here's an article making a case for the Rays to make a run at acquiring Q. The Rays don't strike me as a team bold enough to cough up the haul it would take to get Q. https://www.google.com/amp/www.draysbay.com...t-jose-quintana I think they can compete for a wild card spot. Hopefully they are playing good early on and are looking for a starter in June or July. He's so cheap he would be the type of guy they could make a case to drop some prospects and trade for a front-of-the rotation guy. But they are also similar to the Pirates.
  25. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) Haven't read a post of this thread so this may be redundant but: C: Narvaez/Smith 1B: Abreu 2B: Saladino/Sanchez 3B: Frazier SS: Anderson LF: Cabrera CF: Tilson/L. Garcia RF: A. Garcia DH: Davidson/Hayes (RH/LH platoon, because I had 24 players and needed another) SP: Quintana, Rodon, Shields, Gonzalez, Holland RP: Robertson, Jones, Jennings, Ynoa, Putnam, Petricka, Burdi I think Soto and Bourjos are basically on the team.
