  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) Anyone think the game of chicken ends after today and something gets done? I am starting to feel that way.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) Great year to go all in do it. Well technically they should have already gone all in on the international spending if it was going to come down to this but oh well. Nothing you can really do at this point.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) I won't go as far as you but I'm definitely confident that they'll be a player in this either way. Yeah really depends on how high bidding goes.
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) Then why does it really matter if he is still there or not? It doesn't really matter was kinda my point. If he were sent down today I'd put money on him still appearing in a game by the time they leave for Milwaukee.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) Easy path to the 2020 World Series (only semi-serious): 1) Trade Quintana for Martes, Tucker, & Reed 2) Sign Luis Robert as amateur free agent 3) Draft Seth Beer in 2018 MLB draft 4) Sign Josh Donaldson in 2018-19 free agent class 5) Re-sign Abreu 1B: Reed 2B: Moncada SS: Anderson 3B: Donaldson LF: Beer CF: Robert RF: Tucker DH: Abreu C: Collins #1: Kopech #2: Rodon #3: Giolito #4: Hansen #5: Martes CL: Burdi SU: Lopez SU: Fulmer MR: Stephens MR: Flores MR: Dunning LR: Adams Fixed one minor detail.
  6. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 12:53 PM) Rob Young @RobertHYoung now Without commenting specifically on Luis Robert, Hahn theoretically is open to going beyond caps and pay penalties for a special talent Considering we are in the last period you can do that in, as long as the owner is willing to pay, they can definitely get him.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 10:32 AM) He hasn't even had a professional at-bat yet. He's 17 years old. The hype train has to slow down a bit until he shows he can do it against pro competition. Agreed. I don't mind him as a second piece but if he is the best piece in an offer, I'll probably hate that deal for a while.
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) With Quintana starting today it will be interesting to see if any other teams scout will be in attendence and talked about. I'm sure there will be a lot of scouts in attendance for what is hopefully his last start in our uni.
  9. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) I think the Braves step up and make it happen. Would be a huge splash moving into their new stadium. Albies/Acuna/Fried/A. Jackson/lottery ticket I wonder if they would part with Albies. They have Phillips covering second for this season (could release him if he sucks making room for Albies). Beyond this season, their number 10 prospect is a 2B (22 years old) who hit 28 homers last year, their number 3 prospect Maitan (no where close to the majors but a middle infield prospect so worth mentioning I suppose if you wanted to make an argument for adding stop gaps over that time, similar to Phillips) and I suppose trade route (for example: trade pitching depth for Baez or another young infielder that is blocked (Profar?)).
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) I don't want Hawk to announce games anymore. I hope the Sox lose 100 games. I don't want to see Moncada, Giolito, Fulmer, or Lopez until late May at the earliest. I think your post is about me haha. Man I really hope those 3 are in the rotation together at some point but in the best case scenario. Quintana and then 2 of Shields, Gonzalez, Holland being moved. Hell, moving all 3 of those guys and having to call up Volstad would even be a good scenario lol
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) I would have said 99% two days ago, but it is interesting that this is still coming up. Typically teams don't make major deals during the stretch from spring training until about the middle of June. But with the White Sox, they don't seem to care about those norms. The only recent one I can think of is I believe the Craig Kimbrel trade from Atlanta to San Diego happening a day before the season started.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 04:15 PM) Bruce Levine‏ @MLBBruceLevine 14m14 minutes ago More WhSox Rick Renteria said he will announce rotation in the next two days. Does Quintana trade status impact this ? Bruce always trying to get a piece of the obvious... that's amazing lol
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) I do not see Houston being willing to offer up 4 top 12 organizational prospects though Hopefully the fact that they draft 4 times before the 3rd round even helps persuade them that they can take the hit. They may not draft as good of prospects (which they could) but the lesser round guys at least helps replenish depth.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) Wasn't that the Pirates' GM or am I wrong? Just went back a few pages to check. You're correct.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) I say dump the overrated and costly (prospect currency wise) Martes and go with Tucker, Reed, Perez and Laureano. Overall I'd still rather work with the Yankees or Pirates though. I don't see either as likely until mid-season and depending on how say McCutchen is doing.
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) Did Basabe get into any games, even side games? I saw him briefly working out at the facility first week of March when I was there, but didn't see him actually in a lineup anywhere. He made his way into 2 games.
  17. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) It is interesting and not inconsequential that Q has not been officially named Opening Day starter. They can announce him as OD starter and still trade him.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) Considering two of our RP are still in the WBC, we need the pitching for spring training. Doesn't surprise me he is still here. But being sent down doesn't mean you can't appear in a spring training game for the MLB team. Look at the spring stats and the random names on the lists that weren't even invited.
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:57 PM) lol yeah...all it took for it to stop was the start of spring training and then the WBC.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) They have a lot of positional talent beyond the top guys too. Fisher, Reed, Davis, and Sierra are guys that stand out to me as well. I'm a fan of Fisher as a potential third piece. 43 homers over last 2 seasons, left-handed bat, walks a lot.
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) There is definitely a lot more chatter on twitter today on this front. Seems like it may pick up some serious steam if one of the big guys reports on this as well. Still could be nothing though. While I don't wish injuries on opposing players, it would be very helpful if an important starter on the Astros, Pirates, Dodgers even went down in the next week and a half.
  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) For #WhiteSox to trade him now prevents risk of unforeseen Sonny Gray type situation w A's last yr and premature contending issues https://twitter.com/JimBowden_ESPN/status/844612939592159232 True but it seems like they are willing to wait.
  23. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) There's been more chatter it seems in the last 24 hours, but this seems likes it's happened about 78 other times this offseason too, so until something more substantial comes out I take it as just talk (even though every time I hope it isn't, gotta be right eventually right???) Yeah I don't think he gets dealt until July personally. Just interested in the way he phrased that second tweet.
  24. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN 6m #WhiteSox continue to work hard on Jose Quintana trade that could happen before opening day with Astros & Braves appear best possibilities Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN 20s A potential #WhiteSox #Astros deal would be centered around a package of both Frances Martes and Kyle Tucker. However, nothing close. Most likely more non-news, but do you guys believe this is his own assumption (or assumption around everyone) or do you think there is possible legs?
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Yes, but Covey is lost to Rule 5 rules (potentially) if he doesn't make it. Both are at risk of being taken away. But at this point, who would you rather have? Pretty easy decision in my opinion.
