  1. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Shift Marte to CF and Conforto to LF? This is the current plan as everything stands now for the Pirates so this^
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) Vicente: What kind of prospects Pirates have to offer to get Quintana? Dave Cameron: Would imagine Chicago would want some kind of package built around two of Meadows, Bell, or Glasnow, with some other stuff involved. I'm drooling if this were the case. Of the 3 there, which 2 would you choose? What other pieces would be included with those other 2? Meadows and Glasnow (can never have too many arms).
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) If bucket appears you can bet it is getting close as well. We seriously need bucket or rabbit to drop us a nugget as they could know more than national reporters.
  4. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) I seriously do not get the Profar love. He is only under team control for three more seasons, and has been a replacement level player so far in his mlb career. Hard pass It's such bulls*** that he missed 2 full seasons and accrued 2 full seasons service time. Too bad they couldn't minor league dl him like the Angels did all year with Skaggs this past season.
  5. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Anyone know if this trade is anywhere close to being completed? Perhaps today? Or is this impossible to know/infer. Impossible to know unless whitesoxdave or rabbit can fill us in.
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) True or false: he who signs Encarnacion, trades for Q True, Rockies is my answer. But I have no idea lol
  7. Out-righted to minors. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/mino...ons-122116.html
  8. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) Craig should be viewed as a 1b/dh prospect as he has well below average speed and fielding ability. He has a good plate approach, draws walks and should hit for some power, but his defensive limitations hurt his value He could be a third or fourth piece.
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) Surprised no mention of Will Craig as part of a package. Though I suppose he is tough to assign value to at this point, being a 2016 1st rounder with little pro experience. Everytime I see his name, I think of Craig Wilson for whatever reason lol
  10. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 12:04 PM) FWIW, Dan Szymborski just said he think Quintana should bring back Meadows AND Bell. Who?
  11. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) I love bouncing my trade ideas off of Dave Cameron. From the chat today... Striker 12:36 Quintana and Jones for Glasnow, Meadows, Bell and Keller Dave Cameron 12:36 Probably too rich for PIT, but interesting. Jones is worth a lot, so maybe that's not so far off. I hate the idea of pairing Jones up with Q. I could see him being paired with someone who has a year or two left like Frazier, Melky (if we are dealing with a team that needs a bat in left plus we ate money), or Robertson.
  12. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) Hahn is not going to let his final blue chip trade piece go without getting a hefty return. Eventually a team will cave and offer up a great package. Quintana's contract makes him incredibly valuable. Houston is not dealing Bregman. I think we can forget about that. Pittsburgh is unlikely to deal Meadows, but I would not totally rule it out. Glasnow could be on the table. I could see Colorado being willing to deal Rodgers and/or Dahl Yankees likely do not want to part with Torres or Frazier I think you can see it happen if they sign a 1B like Trumbo or Encarnacion. They need to.
  13. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) I wanted to start a discussion on Giolito to gather some opinions from our more savvy posters regarding his future in the MLB. Basically, when the trade happened people were saying Shelby Miller 2.0 and that the Sox fleeced the Nationals. I think a lot of people here had a more clear view of the trade, yes the Sox got a nice return but the Nationals got a good player and I highly doubt he will be as bad as Shelby Miller has been for Arizona. However, I was reading some tweets and articles talking about Giolito and that a lot of executives at the winter meetings had him lower on their prospect list then the national outlets. How low? One may never know, but it is interesting topic for discussion because some felt the Sox fleeced the Nationals, while others are down on Giolito. If Giolito isn't as good as we hope, then it severely hurts the value of this deal. Lopez projects as a bullpen piece, which is fine, and Dunning could be a starter but he's kind of far away yet. Giolito is the headliner and there's talk that the Nationals screwed up delivery, so he seems like an ideal candidate for the Sox to fix. I guess I just want to see what some of you guys out there feel like his ceiling really is. I forgot where I read it, but wherever I read it mentioned that Dunning could possibly be a fast riser.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) I bet the Pirates would give up one of Meadows/Bell but don't want to give up both. "Settling" on the 2nd and 3rd pieces will be the hold up here I'm betting. Similar to the Sale deal (we wanted Devers as third piece, settled for Basabe and Diaz).
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) Until the Pirates actually trade McCutchen, Meadows is a trade option also. One of the problems with any setup I see here is that this is one of those "lots of moving parts" deals. Generally when I see things like "move 2 stars in a 3 way trade" I start thinking it isn't going to happen because it's so complex, everything needs to match and it rarely does. The Pirates might be willing to move Cutch, but teams might not pay MVP caliber prices for him coming off an inexplicably terrible season. If teams don't pay that price they might not move him. If they don't move him they don't have a space for Meadows. Just lots of things to work through by that franchise. Probably worth noting that as of now, Marte is supposed to be in center with McCutchen in left. They could still theoretically trade McCutchen and Meadows, getting a cheap front of the rotation starter for 4 years without really hurting their farm a lot (if they can get 2 good prospects for McCutche). It would be a lot easier to find another corner outfielder than a center fielder.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) Why are some people saying Meadows is unrealistic? The Red Sox just traded the top prospect in the game. The A's traded a top 15 guy for a year and a half of Jeff Samardzija. The Royals traded a top 10 guy for James Shields! Need we mention the Shelby Miller deal? If you want a top arm like Quintana, Meadows is not unrealistic at all. It would be silly for him NOT to be part of the package. Q for Meadows, Bell plus lower-level guys is where the conversation starts for me. Agreed. Anything is possible.
  17. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) "Working hard" is pretty imminent language. This could really accelerate with the Pirates at any time, which is BAD BAD BAD for my productivity. Dude tell me about it. I have s*** to do today lol
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) Olney always starts the day with articles and bits of news like this. At 3:30am Eastern time?
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 06:41 AM) Who would their 1B be if they traded Bell? Can't see them subtracting from their major league roster unless they have an obvious replacement. Still have Jaso and Freese to share time.
  20. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 05:59 AM) I've been rooting for Sox wins that resulted in losses for most of my life. I'm sure I can keep rooting for wins, and the result will be plenty of losses. They've rarely failed to lose for me. Exactly except this time they won't be as disappointing haha
  21. Maybe it'll be a similar situation with Sale? Where Hahn supposedly called Dombrowski before the winter meetings saying he was going to trade him essentially taking final and best offers. But instead of winter meetings, before the New Year? To possibly add some pressure on interested teams.
  22. He also said Yankees and Sox haven't talked in weeks. Morosi's comments never had a specified time range so it can be true.
  23. If Buster is reporting that in the middle of the night, do you guys think discussions were happening at that time
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 20, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) If the White Sox system isn't going to develop position players then undertaking a rebuild was the absolute stupidest thing they could have done. This x 1000
  25. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 20, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) I don't see Boston wanting to tap into it's farm system anymore after trading for Pomeranz, Sale and Thornburg in the past year See disclaimer. It was just a s***s and gigs scenario.
