Listening to The Score, Bruce Levine reported Rodon won't start until the 5th or 6th game of the regular season. I guess they can put him on dl towards end of Spring Training, carry another reliever, and then take him off dl and send down a guy when he makes his start (similar to what they did with Sale in '15).

Red Sox don't have to pay 3 top 50 guys if the best offer for Sale (their's) only includes 2.

When the second pitcher becomes ready he will probably replace Q if/when he is traded. When the third of those three is ready, that's when you cut bait on Shields. It's going to be painful to watch but just use and abuse Shields to help buy some time for the younger pitchers. He will also be playing an important role in helping the team get a high 2018 1St round pick, so there's that. Weren't you the one who forgot Gonzalez last time as well? haha
