  1. I think Fowler is making less than he did last year so if angle is that they spent money on him to bring him, its not really true. Got a really good discount on him and paying less on him than last year.
  2. Fowler is in the second year of Cubs stint. Originally acquired through trade. He was brought in through trade and re-signed. Without being with the Cubs last year, he likely doesn't sign so cheap this year.
  3. QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Which of these 3 potential trades makes most sense for both teams? #1 White Sox acquire Lucas Giolito, Victor Robles, Reynaldo Lopez, + Nationals acquire Adam Eaton, Jose Abreu, Nate Jones #2 White Sox acquire Andrew Benintendi, Michael Kopech, Jason Groome, Eduardo Rodriguez Red Sox acquire Jose Quintana, Todd Frazier, David Robertson #3 White Sox acquire Julio Urias, Cody Bellinger, Yadier Alvarez, Austin Barnes, + Dodgers acquire Chris Sale and Melky Cabrera Red Sox package looks light for getting all 3 of those guys.
  4. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 05:03 PM) Yeah I heard the same thing. Possibly the most annoying thing about this Cubs season is this infatuation the fanbase has with David Ross. During the ceremony last night, he got by far the loudest cheer out of everybody. I could understand if he was a player who had been there 10 years and been through the rough times, but he's been with them two seasons. I could even understand it if he was there two years and never won a ring. He has though haha
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 07:28 AM) What are their commitments to Anderson, McCarthy, Ryu and Kazmir after this year? Logically, they need to improve their offense more than their pitching. We'd be better off trading them Robertson and/or Nate Jones, as bullpen will be their second biggest need. Anderson is a free agent (he took the 1-year QO). The Puig anf McCarthy and prospects for Braun deal may re-surface since it was close to happening at the end of August (ran out of time).
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 12:40 AM) I had people saying they waited all their lives for last year. So, reaching the NLCS. Or another started crying when she became a fan...three years ago. Which they did in 2003 lol
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 12:32 AM) This is the best one yet. Girl who looked to be in her early twenties starts crying about how she has been waiting for this her whole life. I thought about the 80 year old who also has been waiting. Shut up lady. Haha Yeah its really not tears/crying, "been waiting my whole life" worthy unless you're at least in your 40s haha this girl hasn't suffered long like many.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 12:19 AM) This guy at the party I was at just confessed to me that he bought his Cubs Jersey 2 weeks ago and jumped on the bandwagon. I wanted to slap him haha I actually respect him for admitting it.
  9. You learn it as a kid: don't take your eye off the f***in ball.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) I have mixed emotions about tonight. Be happy if they win for my good cub friends or root for a melt down. Decisions decisions Whenever I watch around my friends, I don't cheer for either team but deep down, I want them to lose. If they win the whole thing? Oh well, life goes on.
  11. Yeah Pete has been all over the place this post-season and always sounds about ten beers deep.
  12. Cubs have struggled against lefties ALL post season (besides a 20 year old rookie with 77 IP under his belt). Dodgers hitters have a favorable matchup against the righties than the Cubs hitters do against the lefties.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 07:43 AM) Wishful thinking on my part but I think the Cubs shot their wad scoring 18 runs in two days and now the bats go cold again. We'll see but I kinda feel the same.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 07:28 AM) Everyone seems to assume that Kershaw on short rest is a guaranteed 7 inning shut out. No way, even he can struggle a bit, especially when he's not fully rested. This way they have their two best starters going, fully rested and ready to roll. Not much else to ask for, especially with all their offensive struggles. The game yesterday was 3-1 after 7 innings, Kershaw probably would have left with a similar result. Then they forgot how to play fundamental baseball. Roberts maybe could have brought in Jansen before the wheels completely off in the 8th. Exactly!
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 07:13 AM) Cubs coming home up 3-2 in NLCS. Sounds familiar. The gif you have as your profile pic is all kinds of fantastic.
  16. I agree he may be more valuable to us as a DH than trying to sell him to a team that has soured on his defense (unless a team that can play him at first is willing to play him there and take the good with the bad. Edit: however, you have to listen to any and everything.
  17. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 06:27 AM) Maeda gave them a chance to win last night but Roberts use of the bullpen was very Ventura-like. Questionable at best. Cubs are heavy favorites to close this thing out but you never know. They were in a similar situation (I would say even better situation) in 2003 and couldn't get it done, so we'll see. Yep. Maeda should have gone 5, mix and match for 2 inning after, and then Jansen for last 2.
  18. Kershaw on 5 days rest...this series is going 7 gentleman.
  19. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) Oh I'm dense, but I can't forget the horrors of this season. It's more a feeling of disgust, these are the best teams the NL has? Cardinals, Mets and Nationals without all the injuries are probably better than the Dodgers and Giants in my opinion.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 10:37 PM) Playoff baseball is pretty horrendous to watch Agreed. It's awful to watch on weeknights. Hanging with others watching at a bar or someone's place on the weekend? Its ok. But this is so brutal.
  21. Watching these past few games is making me wonder how they can speed up the game slightly.
  22. Dearlord take second. He can easily take second or easily get picked off with a good throw.
  23. In real time he looked out. Edit: looks like it in replay
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) Roberts is so quick to pull everyone but allows Blanton to get pounded Yeah its weird.
