  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) I wonder if he would want to move on after being passed over for the top job. Trying to use logic, if everyone were coming back, I think they would have said something. There are going to be some changes IMO. Agreed. Hahn said they'd address it later in the month.
  2. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) Frazier hit 40 homers, 21 doubles, and drove in 98 runs. How is that not a legit #4 or #5 hitter? Another thing to consider is who plays 3B if Frazier is allowed to walk after next season. The Sox would have to address that before they parted ways with him. In a rebuild? Davidson or sign and flip candidate (I will admit, I don't know if there are any out there).
  3. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) I think that you need to keep one of those guys. The Sox rotation would suck for a long time with Rodon being the only one who's been proven to get out ML hitters. Yeah I don't see both going. I think one goes this offseason (Sale) and the other in the next year/year and a half (Quintana).
  4. Rick Hahn on the score said he sees disadvantage in announcing rebuild. I'm starting to bet on a rebuild. Makes sense. A team would be may be willing to offer a huge haul to pry a guy who is unavailable away.
  5. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 08:13 PM) I had just assumed that he couldn't control his temper, but I'm not really surprised by that. A guy who cursed out his GM probably doesn't treat non-authority figures all that well, either. For sure. Other than the ones we know about, supposedly he has been sent home other times as well. Abbatacola also mentioned earlier that his source said Sale's part of the reason Robin didn't really want to continue.
  6. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) 1.) Burdi or Nate Jones as Closer. 2.) Robertson traded for anything they can get for him. 3.) Shields traded for anything, nothing or, DFAed. He cannot be on this team next season because of his attitude, declining velocity, and inconsistent performance. 4,) Trade or DFA Avisail Garcia. 5.) Trade Lawrie. Sanchez and Saladino can replace him at second. 6.) Sign Austin Jackson for CF 7.) Charlie Tilson as back-up CF 8.) Narvaez stays as back-up catcher. Starting catcher remains a question mark. 9.) Keep Sale, Q, Rodon, and Gonzo and look for a legit 5th starter. 10.) Don't resign Morneau. That leaves DH as a need but should not be that difficult to fill. Then see what can be done with trades or promotions from the minors. I already miss having the Sox on when I come home. I won't be watching the North siders unless there is an elimination game and someone calls me to watch in the ninth. Ha
  7. It's not like they want to throw him out. It's just if a team wants to deal with the Sox for one of our two lefties, they would rather deal Sale.
  8. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) Are you sure that everyone in the clubhouse likes him? Would you like him causing a media sh*tstorm TWICE for your team and destroying your jersey with scissors? Fixed that for ya haha
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) Rodon should absolutely be a trade chip if you are unloading everyone 5 years of control...let him develop more the next season or two. Plus someone has to be in the rotation. Trading him now is stupid. Edit: I also have zero faith in him taking a team friendly extension based on who his agent is. He's on track to be a free agent at what, 28?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) If they go for it, I fully expect Carlos Gomez in CF I don't mind him in a rebuild if he'd take a one year deal since you can flip him at the deadline if he does good.
  11. Take it for what it's worth, but Matt Abbatacola on the Score says he has sources inside that say the preference is to move Sale over Quintana. If a team were to overpay obviously. Again, take it for what it's worth.
  12. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Not necessarily. It's a smaller market, but the teams that are in the hunt in July get desperate at the deadline and will overpay for guys like Frazier and Melky. However, you can possibly gett a piece back currently on an MLB team since it's easier to replace someone in the offseason.
  13. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) Oh i thought they might have gotten all those questions out the way when he was hired as bench coach a year ago and asked throughout the season a bunch of times. He wasn't in the manager's seat a year ago though.
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) Really? Why? I am listening and they havent hinted either way from what I could hear. Hahn did mention that it was a possibility of rebuild when he said Ricky could manage either a rebuilding team or a going for it team in 2017. I just feel like you can't be that confident that you know for certain that you will add a major piece. Looking to spend on a player, they could always get beaten out as they always do whenever they are linked to anyone of consequence.
  15. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Of course the Cubs questions. Just why? Why wouldn't they come up? His only experience as a manager is for them...
  16. Listening to this press conference, I'm beginning to fully believe they will rebuild. Hahn sounds really confident about making a major move and I doubt that would be us spending a bunch of money to acquire big talent.
  17. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) It's pretty ridiculous that they didnt even interview a single other candidate. It just makes the whole Ventura leak thing even more awkward. This has obviously been the plan for awhile, so why even bother with that dumb ass charade? Yeah doesn't really make any sense. They could have just had a press conference today announcing that Renteria is taking over and Robin and the club decided to part ways as opposed to the whole "sure, we'll take Robin back if he wants to come back" game.
  18. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) The Sox have said once again that there was a depth/talent issue in the wake of Robin's departure, why do these two continue to get a free pass? Don't tell me it's because of loyalty, that's just a lazy explanation. They had a plan and it failed miserably (as most predicted it would), when does Jerry wake the f*** up and realize he needs to cut his losses on these 2? Call it a lazy explanation, but it is what it is. Most on here want one or both gone so many have questions like you do.
  19. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) Are we sitting at 13th pick as of right now? When do protected picks end? We have 12. And only first 10 protected. Not that I think we would add anyone either way that would cost a draft pick.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) Yeah, let's see how the Red Sox perform in the playoffs before writing off their desire to add an ace. Here's to hoping they get shelled and knocked out after 3 games. If they win the whole thing (again), they definitely won't trade any core guys.
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) Those are two nice contracts that allow for them to spend money on hitting. History suggests they stop trying to fill holes with veteran NL talent. With a weak free agent class, who are they going to outbid on?
  22. If they are rebuilding and trade a starter, Shields is fine in a rotation spot. Need somebody to throw at the MLB level without rushing anyone.
  23. Bye Robin. Sorry you were forced into this mess.
  24. So why did people think Kenny is leaving? We are making a change in manager and you don't think we would have a conference for it?
  25. I don't think anyone on here is saying to only change Ventura. As one said, he can be replaced easily. I for one want a scrub down of the front office before this team makes moves and the coaching staff (minus MAYBE Herm Schneider).
