  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) The only people I'd be happy for if they won it all are the really old people and diehard fans that waited their entire lives for this. The people that go to the games just to party and get drunk can f*** themselves. I'll be rooting for any team that plays them. Yeah the douchey frat boy type of fans can f*** themselves. I have friends that aren't bad to me about it so I don't care if they win for them.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) The only reason the Cubs are a bit different than any other baseball team for me is because I do have a lot of close friends that I'd be super happy for if they do end up winning it all. That said, I'm not rooting for them and I'm not rooting against them, whatever happens...happens. And they're obviously the best team in baseball but they're far from a lock to even get out of the NLDS, this is the baseball post season, it's random as s***. This is all me 100%. I won't sweat it or be pissed if they win.
  3. Assuming they carry 7 relievers next year with one being a long man, Burdi being called up second or third week of the season, and a second lefty, who fills out the other 4 spots? I have Jennings, Jones, Petricka and Putnam with Robertson moved. Unless someone in that group has options remaining that can be in the minors for depth purposes because we severly got bit by not having depth.
  4. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) Let me ask you all this. Is there, or should there be "Chicago fans," where people are loyal to one team but cheer for the other in the postseason if their team is not there? And, if your wife/girlfriend/family/friends are Cubs fans or have ties to being Cubs fans, how would you approach what is about to happen this October? My approach right now is to just not address it and say they are having a hell of the season. I wish them well but I am not actively cheering for or against them. I really can't see anyone but the Nationals having a legit shot beating the Northsiders in the postseason. Thats how I'm kind of addressing it. Hard to deny they're having a hell of a season.
  5. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) Since 2011, actually. Well there ya go.
  6. Doesn't seem to be as big a deal as initially made out to be. According to CBA, GMs don't have to disclose injury info when making a trade. They do, however, have to disclose treatments which is what he is suspnded for. My opinion? You wouldn't hear a peep out of the Sox if he had he been pitching good. Edit: plus I'm sure teams' training staffs look at newly acquired players as soon as they get there.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) With Cleveland winning, that's definitely three signs of the apocalypse. True but that's not what I was getting at haha
  8. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Not a chance. I look forward to President Chelsea welcoming championship Cub teams to the White House for many years to come. If the Cubs won the World Series and Trump won the election, woud he invite Ricketts and the Cubs to the White House?
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) If Shields has indeed been injured this whole time, then that might actually be good news for the Sox considering we have him for 2 more years. Maybe he's still got something left in him in case the injury isn't lingering or too serious. Thats what I was thinking too. Off season is around the corner for him to just chill and get better.
  10. I feel like the Sox heard there was an investigation going on with a deal the Padres made regarding the withholding of medicals and they decided to jump on since they made a trade too lol Edit: didn't see Rabbit's post until after I made this post.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) Preller suspended 30 games due to not disclosing info on Pomeranz's health So he gets to just stay home and not work for 30 days without pay? Seems like he may get off easy.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) The funny thing about the Sox trade is EJ is the guy on the DL. If it was on purpose and they hid anything on the players hey traded, the other team should be compensated. Big difference IMO from it just happening, and actually hiding things on purpose. If MLB wants to force him out, the idiot owner of the Pads should beat them to the punch unless he was also involved. Hopefully we get compensated with extra cash or Tatis Jr back. They can keep Johnson.
  13. I think the organization would be fined and Preller and whoever president of baseball operations is would lose their jobs. If this was before the draft, I bet they'd lose a comp pick or both.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) I understand this is frowned upon but we do get a chance to give physical so we should be more upset with ourselves. After the deal maybe but its not like they were going to fly Shields out here before the deal and then decide. No one does that.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) As much as I doubt everything being revealed about Shields would have made the White Sox walk away (he is making his 30th start today) , they might as well pursue this either for a total out, or some sort of compensation. I never knew this database existed. It's pretty cool as long as teams are being straight. I guess it makes sense. Then teams can look at everything quickly and make decisions. I assume there is a database for players on waivers and such.
  16. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) Just a reminder that Boston was hot for Shields before the deadline. But Boston press said Red Sox decided against it after seeing his overall drop in velocity on his fastball by I think 2 -3 Mph. It was also noted at the time he was giving up a lot of fly balls and Boston felt he would not be effective in Fenway. So I think if Boston saw he was struggling and passed on him, we don't have much to complain about. Exactly I'm not really sure we have a case as he has made all his starts while being here. But it can't hurt to try to get compensation for it
  17. Send us more money or send us Tatis Jr. back and I'm alright.
  18. Need Sox to win or lose by 4 runs or more for fantasy implications lol guy I'm facing has both (for some reason) Miller and Allen.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) What is up with Morneau? Stiff neck I believe.
  20. Anyone else a little surprised to see Sanchez at 3B lately? Before when he and Saladino would play, it was Saladino at 3B and Sanchez at 2B. Trying to see if Sanchez can handle the whole infield incase they make a deal in the off-season (Lawrie or Frazier)?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) My deep dark hope was that he would eventually replace Steve Stone with Hawk for a year or two before Hawk retired. That would be a booth to listen to. Bennetti, Stone at home AJ, Hawk on the road? Yay or nay?
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Honestly, if AJ wants to be on a broadcast, he should immediately be a national guy working for Fox or MLB Network. He's already that good. Wasn't he doing work on Fox the last couple post-seasons? I'm sure he'll be back this year.
  23. QUOTE (spiderman @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) What else would Milwaukee be getting for Braun? I thought (but could be mistaken) that he was still a fan favorite in Milwaukee and that the owner liked him. Puig is rumored to be a horrible clubhouse teammate as well. Unless the Brewers are saving significant money and/or receiving 1-2 good prospects, what is the upside to making this trade for them? Deal would have been Puig, McCarthy (probably to help off-set money), and 2 prospects. Not a straight one for one. Was close to happening to point where Braun was waiting outside office for confirmation. Deal didn't happen because they ran out of time. 24. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) I'd love to see AJ as the manager. Think it's more likely he calls radio games or does pre/post game show on CSN. Give it a year or two.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Can you believe the Chicago Cubs are going to win the 2016 World Series? It's here and it's happening, folks. And if they win it, the Sox are irrelevant forever. It actually probably would be good for the Sox. To get our front office moving. Chicago is a championship city right now. The Hawks always win the Cup; the Sox won it in 05; the Bulls had the Jordan dynasty. it's crazy. Now the Cubs -- WS champs. It's going to be tough to stomach. You betting your house?
