QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Which is why they should go after Reddick instead. I can get on board with Reddick. I think he will end up signing for less than a 5/$90-100 that I saw predicted for him a few months ago. This of course pushes Eaton to CF.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 09:19 PM) Around the trade deadline, it seemed like we were gonna sell. But now, with these "JR wants to win NOW!!" stories, I don't know what we're going to do. I think selling is more prudent, especially with the bleak FA market. I also envision some sort of weird buy/sell thing where we trade one of Sale/Quintana and get some package like Bradley/Benintendi/Kopech and try to win now, but then we'd just have a bad rotation. Anyway, here's what I want to happen: Chicago trades Sale, Robertson to Boston for Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech, Groome Chicago trades Quintana to Los Angeles (NL) for Urias, De Leon, Verdugo Chicago trades Cabrera, one of Abreu/Frazier (as a 1B) to Texas for Guzman, Taveras Here's what I think (and fear) will happen: Either: A: Nothing or: B: Chicago signs Edwin Encarnacion to 4-year, $110 million contract Chicago signs Kenley Jansen to 4-year, $52 million contract Chicago thinks they're contenders but finishes with anywhere between 75-85 wins Biggest contract they've given out is Abreu's 6/ $68 mill. Consider that. I think they sign guys without giving up a draft pick and for not a ton of money and I think they also don't trade any of the big prospects/young controllable players.

It's fine having him go over 100. I'm so glad a lot of people on here aren't the manager.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) Great post. Being cramped at all times is no fun for the average fan. The food being amazing and the fact the games are so poorly attended has its advantages. You can spread out and enjoy the experience more. If I had a seat where I couldn't see the ball in the air I'd leave. It would be just just awful. As far as fans taking videos .. WTF with that? Every highlight is on TV or mlb.com. Why do your own video? To brag you were at the game? Nobody wants to see that. Ah the 10,000 dollar question. A lot of people b**** about their team. Just like the fan in Major League. The Randy Quaid character. If your teams sucks and you are a fan, you don't stop watching but many do start b****ing. This isn't just at Cubs games...This is literally EVERYWHERE in today' society. As a 25 year old I hate going out with people taking pics and videos and just sitting on their phone. Live in the moment.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 4, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) Am I crazy, or has he been killing it since he saw his son in Miami? Maybe there's no correlation, but he was ice cold before and has been raking ever since. No you're not crazy as this has been pointed out basically every day since he saw his son. Pretty crazy turn around.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) Judging by the attendance, most people don't like this. I know. I don't enjoy this. I'm just saying that there are good seasons regardless if you don't win it all. By that logic, 29 teams a year don't have good seasons. If the Cubs get swept in the first round, their season was not exciting then. By your logic anyway. I want to watch competitve baseball all season. Watch meaningful games in August and September. World Series win is even better.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) My big question is why are people wasting their time if this isn't something they get enjoyment out of? Exactly. Like if there hasn't been an excitng season to you in over ten years, why do you still like this? Haha

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) White Sox stressed plate discipline with their 2016 draft. Check out the minor league OBPs from their draft class. https://t.co/kBlsCEzRMa https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/771751033634775040 Should have done this along. f*** "toolsy" outfielders.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) lol really? 2008 maybe. That's it. And being a World Series contender makes you exciting. You don't have to win it. The longer you believe you can win the WS, the more exciting. We are almost always out too early. They've had competitive seasons that were exciting. 06, 08, 10, 12 were all good seasons to watch. If you only think winning world series is exciting, then why/how do people start liking in the first place and continue to like this team looking at our World Series success? Why are you a fan if you haven't had excitement in 11 years? Sounds like you need a new hobby.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) Nobody should give a s*** about that though. Who cares if people are making jokes about it? It's a stadium name. Completely pointless for people to make dumb jokes about it. Agreed. If people want to make jokes however, look at the product on the field.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 08:20 AM) Doesn't sound great, but I would like it if the sponsor just called the place Comiskey and then just dominated the signage throughout the park, live ads read by the announcers, etc. At some point, the identity of the company that sponsors the naming rights (United, US Cellular, Wrigley) gets lost. I don't think of United Airlines when the announcers at the Bulls game say "live from the United Center...." I know that maybe it's there subliminally, but I'd say a more overt message like "this 20 second timeout is brought to you by United Airlines..." Is more effective. Guaranteed Rate Field at Comiskey Park...or Guaranteed Rate Field at Sox Park. Then we could call it Comiskey or Sox park for short and it'd be accurate.

It's that time of year again...2016 edition

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) I think talent evaluation is as important and sometimes even more important than Draft position. We have had some first round dogs, and I hate to call Fulmer one, but he might become another bust. You go into full tank mode to get a player like that? While certainly true, you still have more pool money and there is a difference between picking 11 or 10th in the current system. -

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 12:54 AM) With today's loss, we still have the 11th pick. 3.5 GB of Philly for 10th pick. 13 GB of Minnesota for 1st pick. I think 11 will be best we will do. Unless we lose 2 to the Phillies next time we face them. -
QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 12:35 AM) The Cubs are always going to get the frat bros and the trixies crowd plus the tourists but they also have fans that live and die with the team. I think the Cell and Sox fans kind of get a bad rap, most of the games I've been too Sox fans are always paying attention and are as die hard as any fans in MLB. There's always going to be some people there who are just there for the party/booze and can give a rats ass about the game but that's everywhere. Problem has been there hasn't really been much to cheer or get excited about since the 2005 season. 2006 and 2008 were fun seasons but since then they've been a constant disappointment which has resulted in a more lethargic crowd. We have had other exciting years since 05...I hate the notion that winning the World Series is the only factor for an exciting season for some.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 04:29 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...0901-story.html White Sox get no new monies from Guaranteed Rate deal.... They receive less than they were getting from US Cellular.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) He is Boston's #1 target to replace Ortiz Have the Sox actually said this? Ortiz said he wants him to replace him but that's because they're good buds. -
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) Keith Law's thoughts on Zack Collins defense. Nate: Zack Collins is start at HiA has been pretty solid. Any reports on his catching? Klaw: He’s not a catcher. He’ll hit his way to the majors at another position. Grab the man an outfielder glove.

Give it a shot. If we suck, deal guys in June/July/next offseason. -
QUOTE (balfanman @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) I liked Rowand as a player, but I certainly hope that this is not so they can announce him as the new manager after this season ends and claim that he has experience. I was literally coming here to say the same thing.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) Man poor Zach Duke must feel so left out Until he looks at the standings and sees where we are and where the Cardinals are haha -
Dodgers attempted to trade for Greinke. Diamondbacks should have gotten out from under the deal ASAP.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 07:11 AM) Their fans say they're the best double play duo ever, even better than Alomar and Vizquel. It's quite comical, actually. Yeah definitely too soon to say that. But they still look really good.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) Puig, sorry. I'd go: LF Cespedes (doesn't like CF), CF Eaton (best option of the 3), Puig RF.

The double play duo of Russell and Baez is legit.
