  1. What if you add Gonzalez or Shields along with Sale or Quintana? Red Sox would add a great pitcher and a solid back of the rotation arm.
  2. Here's to hoping the Tigers score some more runs off the Red Sox starter. (I don't cheer for the Tigers often obviously but want the Red Sox to get desperate lol)
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) More than it is currently, in all likelihood. But I agree with your point - the Sox aren't getting Giolito for Robertson. lol Agreed. I expect 2-3 solid prospects and I'd be ok with that. Not a team's best prospects.
  4. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) Right...of all the teams Boston would be the most likely to rebound...but if we take 3 of their top 5 prospects, plus a couple other pieces, they will be short on top prospects to deal for significant pieces for a couple of years--unless they don't win the WS this year or show they have a huge shot at it early next year and sell vets to rebuild. Same position competitively as us--all available resources at the MLB level--1 maybe 2 main players of interest in your system. If the MLB team struggles to win, they will have to pay. Now we all know they CAN/WILL pay...but the reason they are successful has been the fact that they have developed a nice crop of talent from their system. If we raid that system--they will feel the heat from that in one way or another. They'll be able to spend on international prospects next year though so they can sign which ever top ones come over and just load up on a bunch.
  5. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) A sweep and smoke comes out of the front office at 35th and shields. Man if that happens, I see us trading no one from the mlb roster and somehow dealing for Bruce.
  6. http://www.overthemonster.com/2016/7/26/12...ouchable-player Came across this random article. Seems like the author is fine with Red Sox dealing both Moncada and Benintendi in a deal for Sale.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) I'd wait until the offseason for Sale to Boston. If I'm moving him there then I'm waiting until the season is over to try and get one of the Bs, Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech and Swihart. Then we got a deal. I just don't see them getting Boegarts/Betts/Bradley, Moncada and Benintendi. Plus other top prospects on top of it.
  8. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) The people saying they want Moncada/Benintendi plus a bunch of other legit prospects are crazy, but Sale for those two plus a lottery ticket should be doable, and if Boston says no then just keep him. Benintendi, Moncada, Kopech. And if they want to include Swihart. That's a doable deal for me.
  9. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) Yup, it's pretty much Boston or bust and it should be since they have the positional impact players the Sox need. Be overwhelmed or hang onto them, but we've seen Dombroski, I think he will budge. Me too. Especially for Ortiz's final season.
  10. I know a lot of people want Devers but if it meant getting the 2 top guys then they keep Devers and we could take a different prospect.
  11. Red Sox could also sign someone else to play third at some point (have Travis Shaw there now as a stop gap). I've written off Sandoval at third for them as I think if they don't cut him, he'll be in the mix at 1B and DH with Hanley post-Ortiz era. They could also make Pomeranz available in the off-season. Point is they can still bring in talent and dealing both Benintendi and Moncada wouldn't be end of the world (especially when you still have Bogaerts, Betts, Bradley and Pedroia there). I mean it's not like they'd just be giving them away. They'd be getting a proven front of the rotation arm for Christ's sake.
  12. Just keep getting hammered Boston starters.
  13. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Jon MorosiVerified account ‏@jonmorosi Word in industry this morning is #Nats have intensified their efforts to acquire a reliever after last night's walk-off loss. @MLB Come on Sox! Push Robertson on them.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) James Shields is available via trade, sources say, and #WhiteSox could capitalize on spike in value: 1.71 ERA over last six starts. @MLB https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/758317066952712192 Shields a fascinating trade candidate: Per reports, #WhiteSox responsible for $22M after this year. Manageable sum to move. @MLB https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/758317505106489344 Would be amazing to get better value for him than what we gave up.
  15. I don't want to trade Quintana or Sale unless it's to Boston and Dodgers and we get back Benintendi, Moncada, Urias as parts of the deals.
  16. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) Which is completely short sighted, beyond disappointing, and completely in character with this management team. Did the exact same thing last year with Shark. But hey, that playoff run was at least enjoyable to watch.... oh wait. I know. I don't agree with it or think they should be buyers but it won't surprise me in the least if they stand pat or buy.
  17. Gotta think they're buyers if they win 3 of next 5.
  18. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 11:29 PM) Kinda sucks the Sox could've got Bj Upton for a song and missed that opportunity. He's having a really nice season. Agreed. They could have plugged him into CF. Maybe they really don't intend on buying if that's the case? Being under contract for next season would have fit in with trying to compete for next season (and if they wanted to sell, they could have flip him since his salary would be less).
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) Red Sox could've really used one of our starters tonight. Tigers win 9-8. Keep losing Boston rotation.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) He's the type of player the White Sox would let go of but the Cardinals would play all over the diamond. And he'd hit like .290 with 15 homers haha
  21. Just going to toss this out there...I LOVE Tyler Saladino. I think he could be a starter on some teams (especially teams with good offenses that could carry him in the 9 spot).
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Eh, he's walked a ton of guys this year. I'm worried he could have a steep falloff in the next season or two and I'd rather take a prospect or two for him and call it a day. Same here.
  23. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) If no Moncada and Benintendi I will hate that deal. Me too.
  24. Not sure if this was posted yet but here is something I came across from today: http://www.csnne.com/boston-red-sox/report...ale-trade-talks
  25. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) Agreed but getting a guy that can hit and field at a premium defensive position is really tempting. Yes it is. Also near MLB ready.
