QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) This is odd... I feel like the reports are going back and forth on who we're closer with. I hope we get Cespedes and Gordon is being used for leverage. RaBBit has been pretty consistent saying that Gordon is top priority. Others haven't but he seems to be getting something that says Gordon is at the top of the list

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) But that's not the case, because he has tweeted many times since then Someone call Harriet the Spy and the Hardy Boys stat! I wish he would sign so we can have some more stuff to talk about haha

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) Not an "according to sources" joke, but one of Cespedes' most recently liked tweets is "I love you come play for St. Louis" I don't see that anywhere Nancy Drew Nevermind that was 2014 though

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:36 AM) But it's currently 30 degrees Fahrenheit in Chicago and usually when it's 30 degrees that's when the White Sox announce signings Seems legit

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) That's funny that that all happens on Wednesdays But guys I'm off this Wednesday... The other Wednesday I was working. I'm also off next Wednesday so this signing will happen the 13th of January.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 11:25 PM) Where were you when you read four hundred fake tweets whilst trying to find real news Is it weird I read that to the melody of that Alan Jackson song from South Park?

Source: @SONYMLBTHESHOW Cespedes signed 6yr/120m with the Chicago White Sox

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) Sources: Sticking point may be a No Golf on game day clause. See, I can do it too. Same clause stopped John Smoltz from becoming our bench coach

Give me Cespedes... brings more power to the plate, is an above average defender, younger, and most important we keep our QO pick.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 06:16 PM) Ya know, I'm really disappointed in Hahn for this deal with Cespedes not being done yet and I don't think Hahn cares about what the Sox fans want. It's all about the team orientated bulls***. I mean, WTF Hahn, there's still two months left before pitchers and catchers report! What are you waiting for Hahn? No cajones I tell you, none. They probably turned blue, fell off and now reside in a squirrel's nest somewhere feeding their young. GAWD! I think you forgot a hint of green in this post

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) I don't see Davis' overall appeal. Sure, he can hit you 40-50 in a year, but he's bad at D, slow, and can't hit for consistent average. I'm not a fan of Davis but his appeal is the 40-50 homers. Appeal Boras and Davis seem to think is worth a 200 million dollar contract.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) Probably Upton doesn't want to leave the NL or prefers to stay near one of the coasts... I think he will sign with the O's. He's from the area sorta (Virginia), they have been rumored to be interested, they need an impact bat with losing Davis. Makes a lot of sense to me oh and they have the money.

Earlier on Hot Stove Rosenthal said he expects the Sox to sign one of either Cespedes or Gordon. I'd be good with both, personally prefer Cespedes due to no pick compensation, a little younger (maybe) and more power. I wouldn't second guess a signing for Gordon as he brings elite defense, left handed bat, and a guy that gets on base.

Brandon Phillips NOT traded to Nationals
MDWhiteSoxFan replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is there a time when a guy with a QO can be signed without giving up the pick? Like does that go out the window once the season starts or Spring Training? -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 06:53 AM) Machado as a 26 year old free agent is interesting... He is going to get paid... 200+

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Not sure if this has been addressed in this thread, but why is Oakland trading Lawrie? They had their manager on mlb network last night. He made it seem like they had a glutton of corner guys when they brought in someone recently. Lawrie is thought to bring back the biggest return so if they trade one its him.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) Leaks has to be one of the most over-rated starters in baseball. He's extremely average. Seeing what he signs for will really make any appreciate Q and Sale contracts even more than they already do.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) Dodgers trade: Yasiel Puig Julio Urias Joc Pederson Dodgers receive: Jose Fernandez Adam LaRoche John Danks Marlins trade Marcelo Ozuna Jose Fernandez Marlins receive: Julio Urias Carlos Rodon White Sox trade: Carlos Rodon Adam LaRoche John Danks White Sox Receive Yasiel Puig Marcelo Ozuna Joc Pederson Thoughts?? Why would we trade for 3 OF's?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) Time to get nervous and excited. Time to sign Daniel Murphy to big money!

Like the player not the compensation.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) He's connected to the Sox too..... I'd love Upton. Always been a fan of him. I'd prefer Heyward but also like Upton. Was always a fan of him and his brother. But if we are giving up a comp pick for someone I really wish it was Heyward. But I don't see either signing here
-
For anyone upset about this it's 2.5 on a 1 year deal to platoon with Flowers... Sure Derek Norris would be nice (not sure how he is defensively) but at what cost. You're giving up assets for him. We aren't in a position for that IMO

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 06:26 PM) I am almost positive he was just making a joke. Yeah actually, I am positive he was making a joke. There was no green so he was being absolutely serious.

Should the White Sox and Rockies talk trade?
MDWhiteSoxFan replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just look at 2014 CarGo stats he played fairly well in the first half with a .258/.307/.454 line and his BABIP wasn't insane (I don't think) at .301. His 2nd half number (not many games) were awful. .157/.232/.353 his BABIP was under .200. He was injured plus had terrible bad luck (I think). Looking at 2015 he started slow 2 months of bad numbers pretty much. .200/.247/.347 in April followed by a .235/.337/.318 in May. June on he was much better. Average slipped in August but still productive with the bat. His BABIP for the year was around .284. August it was .220 (a month where his average was low). What is an average BABIP anyway? I know .390 is insanely high but .220 seems really low. I wouldn't mind getting CarGo in a trade depending if we aren't giving up like Q or something. His Home/Away splits are somewhat scary but most players do hit better at home just not to the extreme of Colorado players. He still hit 16 HR on the road and his career slash on the road isn't elite but it's .255/.310/.441 which I guess are of an average hitter? I would guess he'd still hit about .280+ at Home here. But it is difficult to guess that. Again as long as we aren't giving up a load for him I wouldn't hate it. -
So realistically what would it take for you all to trade Sale away? I'm not in favor of trading him unless we get a massive haul back but I don't have a clue of prospects. I just know of Bogaerts and Swihart (which would be nice pieces) but what else would it take.
