While that AWFUL non-PI called killed that final drive, big picture it was once again the best thing that could have happened to them. Fields look great, defense look bad, lose a squeaker. Keep putting up points, keep collecting L's. If Fields is really the guy, Poles has a ton to work with moving forward.
-
To summarize, a QB that "sucks" in Fields put up 32 points against a defense that just added Bradley Chubb and is supposed to be a playoff contender, and needed an incredibly generous non-PI call in the final stretch to at the very least not send the game to OT. But this Dolphins fan watched a GREAT game! Checks out. ?

People can't ever seem to separate what someone might think the Sox WILL do, and what they think the Sox SHOULD do...two very different things. They have a hole at 2B, the new manager and hitting coach are coming from the Royals, and Merrifield has traditionally killed the Sox. The Sox have had an illustrious history of grabbing players past their prime that gave them fits 4 years ago. I don't think it's a stretch. I didn't say I would endorse it.

I think they make a trade for Merrifield in Toronto

Pedro Grifol named White Sox manager; Katz asked to return per Rosey
Tony replied to Harry Chappas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I made a joke earlier in the thread about what Rick said before the process started, and while that still holds true, in terms of Grifol himself, I really have no idea but he seemingly has said the right things in podcasts and such. Everything went wrong in 2022. If everything goes right in 2023, it's a playoff team that doesn't stack up with the best of the best, but crazy things can happen in the playoffs. As 98% of the board agrees on, the manager isn't going to solve what's wrong with the White Sox. That starts at the top, and no dramatic changes are going to happen with this organization until new leadership is in place. -
I think acquiring Claypool was for the Bears to be sure of that. Which I agree with.

Pretty sure that dude stinks, but it's a body. The biggest thing this season was figuring out if Fields is "the guy" or not. Last two weeks have done a lot of inspire some confidence but I still stand by the idea that they've given him so little to work with, it's really hard to judge. Adding Claypool for the 2nd half should really help. They have him for next year too, if it's a disaster you let him walk (which would make it a terrible trade for Poles) but he should show enough to sign him for the next 4-5 years, which isn't a bad investment to make in a 24 year old WR

Don't love that it's the Bears pick and not the Ravens.
-
Roquan for Claypool and 5th is what this shakes out to. With the FA WR class being absolute trash, I don't hate giving Fields some help NOW.

Since 2016, the Royals haven't had one winning season. Sounds perfect.- 858 replies

Poles has put himself in a situation that if he hits in FA and in the draft, given the space and draft capital he's collected...he can turn things around very quickly. Picks like Velus Jones in the 3rd round won't do that, but if they hit on most...he's done a great job in Year 1 putting themselves in a spot to get better, quickly. It also helps them this year lose as many games a possible to try and get a Top 5 selection. Games like yesterday are perfect.

There is another reason as well. Ditka and Ozzie have a few things in common, but the biggest is they led teams to Championships and no one since then has. And no one really has before them, either...at least who are alive. Wanting Ozzie back just because of what he did in 2005 is stupid. However, this fan base (same with the Bears) literally don't know what it's like to have teams that win on a consistent basis, and after time...giving consideration to a guy you actually saw have success with your favorite team starts to look pretty good, especially to a casual observer. I don't want Ozzie as the next coach. For all the reasons that have already been mentioned in this thread. But I can at least understand at the surface why people would.

While obviously correct, I still don't understand your stance of "It was probably because they couldn't find space?" Where did that conclusion arrive from?

https://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2022/9/28/23377048/cubs-convention-return-2023 The Cubs announced on Sept 28 of this year...less than a month ago. Again, I'm calling bullshit. There is ZERO evidence to support anything other than they don't want to face a group of angry fans. They didn't even cite an actual reason for cancelling.
-
Yeah, I call major bullshit on this one. If this team was headed to the World Series right now, you think they aren't having a 2023 Soxfest, because of "lack of space?" Come on

Something to consider….It’s also possible after completing an interview….a managerial candidate can decide “This isn’t a good fit for me, I may not be interested based on what I heard.”
-
Conversation is good! I don’t even hate people posting “foodies” and having “discussion” around certain ideas. My issue is when people form actual opinions or wonder “I don’t understand why the White Sox are doing this?” When it’s not based on anything other than some random dude throwing darts blindfolded. It doesn’t give us any actual information and we live in an age when people can’t seem to discern fact from absolute fiction. That’s where it becomes a problem. Fake News.

Until you post the next tweet from Jake Polish Sausages.
-
That is absolutely correct. It can also make you an idiot. Your choice.
-
Or stop believing everything you read on Twitter from people that have ZERO track record and throw countless s%*# against the wall, cry for forgiveness when they get most things wrong, and the one time they “hit” (aka the s%*# sticks) everyone crowns them an insider. That’s also an option.

[RUMORS] Possible clubhouse drama information leaked?

Talent will always win out, but this type of stuff makes a difference -
This is very unlike me, but I honestly don't know how you can judge Fields accurately with this collection of offensive talent. What young QB succeeds in these conditions? Truly? I don't know if he's going to be anything in this league. But I don't know if anyone can truly know at this point, given the "tools" he has to work with around him

Here was my only complaint, and I fully realize it may be due to me not paying attention. This entire mission the last 3-4 episodes....I have no idea what they were stealing and what it will be used for, other than just money. It made the weight of the episodes feel less to me.

You really need to watch more MLB

This is where putting absolutely zero talent around Fields really hurts. Let’s see what he can do on a 2 Min Drive. We can’t because of trash like that.
