Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
Not sure if this helps or hurts Robert’s value. They’ve been about the same hitter the past two seasons, but Robert brings more to the table and will start the season 5 years younger. Is that worth the difference? Who knows. If anything maybe it’ll put some pressure on the Mets.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
I think having an agreement in place is important, as opposed to hypotheticals. Whether that results in more spending remains to be seen. I’m not holding my breath, just think it’s noteworthy.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Prior to the agreement with Ishbia I believe his son was going to take over the team, which might have been a deterrent for kicking the can down the road. Now that it’s not his son, maybe? I’m expecting him to pull the football away like he’s always seemingly done, but circumstances are a little different. I don’t think this is the off-season they go for it, regardless.

I’m hoping Jerry might be more inclined to sign some decent sized contracts knowing Ishbia is on the hook for the back half.

White Sox tender Derek Hill, non-tender Cam Booser, Tim Elko, & Mike Tauchman
45 days might be doable, but he’s gonna miss a good chunk of the year recovering from a torn ACL.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Currently the top headline at MLBTR. It’s an older post they updated. The mention of Crawford and Chace is my own, though.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Rosenthal is saying the Phils had recent interest in trading for Robert, which isn’t exactly shocking. I don’t like Crawford, but Moises Chace would be a good get.

This is missing an arrow from SS to C. It’s called the TA line. im sorry but that will never stop being funny (to me)

Sox Claim Ryan Rolison
41st man on the Braves is the 38th (or whatever our 40 man is at) man for us. Makes sense at this juncture. My guess is they see something they want to try with him. If it works, great. If not just waive him. I wish him luck.

You could have set the example by not responding.

Forgot why I stopped bothering to post on this place.

Well, you can. Every team does, to an extent.

That also makes sense. It’s a really fine line with baseball. Reps are so-so important, but so is rest. It’s such a tough sport to manage.

Anyways, bummed no Grandal for Toronto. I will be there. 2nd row behind Jays dugout.

Not debating the strength of the depth. Questioning the strategy through which is was put together. The result has been great so I’m not whining. I’m hoping this season is a lesson about the value of depth and they don’t count on waiver wire gifts next year.

That’s sports. I guess you could lump me in it now? I think Hahn and co. Do a great job. I think they could have built a better base against injury. It worked out great, but Billy the hitter and b-good were kind of gifted. That’s all. Credit for picking them up, but risky to bet on it.

I think it’s fair to hold Rick Hahn to a higher standard than Soxtalk.com, yes.

Until other teams released superior players, nick williams played LF. That was before Robert was hurt. Our top prospect had to become a LF on a dime. Just because it somehow worked out doesn’t mean that planning was A1

Not sure if using the result the measure the process is the best approach, but nonetheless it has worked out. Counting on Billy Hamilton and Brian Goodwin being released and being contributors isn’t really something you can bank on. That’s more of a fringe competitor strategy. Counting on guys like Jake Burger is absurd. I’m not suggesting they don’t know what they’re doing, moreso that they have a tendency to act like second place teams instead of big boys.

Bad at creating depth *in the off-season* Not suggesting they don’t deserve credit for in-season maneuvering, but there is a distinction between the two that I thought was clearly made.

Farhan Zaidi (apologies bc I’m too lazy to check name spelling if I’m wrong) recently said the most overrated thing in terms of roster construction is the 26 man roster. He is 100% correct. Most teams never/rarely see this offseason primo roster actually come to fruition. as usual, the Sox were bad at creating solid depth in the off-season. To some credit and some luck, they managed piece things together.

Active roster, as it currently stands, is pretty damn good in terms of available players. That excuse doesn’t really exist anymore. I’m ok with some tinkering/rest/experimenting, however. I think health should take precedence over anything else until October hits.
