I used to be a catcher, and I was pretty good so I played against some teams Votto was on. Votto would call the pitches out of the pitchers hand. Not to be an asshole, he would just talk to himself. I was calling the pitch, but he would say immediately “ball” or “slider” out loud to himself the second it left the pitchers hand. I hated him so much but appreciate him now. Some guys have it.

AJ isn’t a Votto fan. But Votto may as well be an umpire. Dude doesn’t swing at balls.

Not really sure what to think here. On the one hand he’s obviously supremely talented, a fact that really can’t be debated. on the other hand, he’s a polarizing personality. But, I don’t think that’s as big of a deal with a starting pitcher. They usually do their own thing anyways. I don’t see this happening because of Coop, and not blaming either guy. I can’t see them meshing well. At all.

Crochet definitely put himself on the map. What a debut. It’ll be interesting to see what he has if he’s looking to go 5+ innings. I would hope he’d dial it down.

I don’t think we can blame stiever for scoring 1 run. The loss is on him, absolutely, but he isn’t the reason we were a little lifeless.

Maybe, maybe not. We aren’t in the dugout. Just how I saw it.

I kind of expected this. Just finished a big series and they probably didn’t feel that intensity today. Hopefully they feel it tomorrow with Bauer going.

Would have been very interesting to see them face off. I love Votto because he’s from Toronto and he’s the best player I ever played against.

Yeah who knows. Things like crochet being called up, and even things that didn’t go well like Stiever starting today, suggest they aren’t thinking that way. But ultimately who knows.

Just not a lot of competitive at bats. I was really optimistic after that single up the middle against the twins a few days ago, but no.

I can attest to this. Used to be able to drink until 4 or 5 and wake up for 7. If I drink now I feel it for two days sometimes.

Could be. I think there’s a bit of an emotional letdown too, if that’s the word. Kind of like when a pitcher loses a no-hitter and promptly struggles. They just came off four stressful games, so I’m not too surprised the intensity seems down today.

Poor kid. Tough game for him. If they don’t gain ground in a couple innings I’d rest the regulars. At least we may see crochet pitch.

Just got home. Excited to see stiever pitch. And votto...I actually played against him in high school a couple times. Guy was unreal.

Damn what a catch. Need to get Robert going again.
