Grandal reminds me of Catcher version of Alexei. He’s really good at it, but he makes it hard to tell sometimes. His biggest issue, in my opinion, is he doesn’t have a natural feel for pitch selection/reading the hitter. Not a small thing, but also easy to work around.

The typical way to describe a contract is MaxYears/MaxMoney, but this contract is unique and general talk about it has been confusing and misleading. I like the deal. It’s basically the Will Smith deal with an innovative compromise for a “4th year” love or hate Hahn, he is good with contract structure.

That’s a good argument. And I makes me feel better about it. But the way I see it, we already have some high upside arms in-house whereby we can dream on upside. Burnes saw his for a decent stretch, but I’d rather get a boring innings guy for only money and see if our guys can fill out the rest.
