  1. Wimpy seems to believe you win more games scoring one run than three runs.
  2. This is kind of meaningless, really, but I was looking into it and once Eloy reaches the bigs we should have 4 players with first names that have never been shared by another big leaguer: Eloy, Yoan, Avisail, Yolmer. This pleases me.
  3. I don’t put much stock into anything Law says. He lets his arrogance get in the way of his work.
  4. I guess now Chicago-area senior citizens will be confused about the spelling of Daniel Palka’s last name.
  5. Cano hasn’t typically been a huge BB% guy (especially in his younger days) and has posted below average K-rates for his career. Really, aside from being 2B’s with power they don’t have a ton in common. Their swings look alike, but that doesn’t have much to do with who they are as a player.
  6. Yeah, he’s not going to do that. If he can cut the K% to the high 20’s that would be great, and he’s obviously never going to walk at that clip. The last guy to walk that much was probably Bonds (though Harper is there so far this year). You mentioned Rendon in your original post, and I assume the reason he isn’t mentioned as a potential FA signing is simply because he isn’t a free agent until the 2019/2020 offseason.
  7. If he played for the Yankees it’s all you’d ever hear about. You hear so much about Judge, and rightfully so, but like you said not nearly as much about the superior Trout....and they’re the same age.
  8. Looked to me like it was the late slide that got him, not the running.
  9. Surprised it’s not Lyons in to turn Moncada around.
  10. Thanks. I think it was Kiley at FG that wasn’t crazy about his defense either.
  11. Missed it. Care to elaborate?
  12. Pham’s setup at the plate reminds me of Avi.
  13. Did you mean someone other than Puk? He was a college guy and isn’t a star - not to say he doesn’t have the chance to be. I think they go with a college guy. Seems to be their general preference and would fit better with the timeline of the next wave of talent.
  14. Sure, I just think the hope is he can be a primary contributor rather than a secondary guy/fringe regular.
  15. Different profiles. Rutherford isn’t going to steal 59 bases out of the leadoff spot.
  16. I’m skeptical too. Still hitting a ton of grounders, and as you mentioned the BABIP is unsustainable. On the positive side, today is his 21st birthday. He still has time on his side.
  17. He has to be kidding. Right? Even the qualifications you listed MIGHT get you considered for a Scouting Coordinator position at the absolutely most, and that’s a stretch unless a person has somehow already gone to scout school in the AFL.
  18. I do t think Soria getting saves changes his trade value. Any contender wouldn’t be looking to use him as a closer, and people already know he’s closed before. Ideally, I’d used him in a flexible set-up role against the weaker spots of lineups to help artificially pad his stats a little bit. But that would be a tough sell to Renteria and the coaching staff.
  19. Night off for Basabe
  20. Yeah I don’t see the Goins thing either. The guy that comes to mind for me is Eckstein. A 5’7” R/R high contact 2B whose arm is stretched out at SS, but makes it work. Even then, Madrigal is his own guy. He’s more athletic, toolsy.
  21. I’d be OK with Bohm, but it would be nice to get a guy without uncertainty about their defense. The FG guys seems to be satisfied with him being decent at 3B, but it seems like everyone else is less convinced.
  22. This is very encouraging, as others mentioned especially with Hansen.
  23. He’s referring to this from the article. “Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez and Carson Fulmer are in the biggest tryouts of their lives, because Michael Kopech and Dane Dunning and Dylan Cease are on their way, and so long as his arm holds up, Alec Hansen is on the come.” I don’t know if that can be considered expecting the worst, But that’s the quote.
  24. Yeah that could be. Either way, not a big deal. I just would have liked to see him get the triple one AB after the scorer took his away.
