Harper going to Philly would be great for the Sox. I don't really think San Diego is all that serious about him so he could conceivably fall in our lap.

Ultimately I think all of us are just cranky that nothing has happened yet and the "I know something but won't tell anyone" mentality that is rampant both here and on Twitter is just throwing fuel into the fire at this point.

I don't think anyone is asking for these insiders to post every minuscule tidbit of what they know. It's more of the fact that these people make it very clear that they have "insider sources" but refuse to share any of that information when people ask them for details. It just comes off as a grab for attention, at least to me.

Well no, but it ticks me off when people boast about having inside information only to go off the grid when someone asks what they know. To me, there's no point of someone sharing that they know something if they aren't willing to elaborate at all.

What is the point of anyone saying they're an insider or have sources or post eyeballs if they don't tell anyone what they know? Is it purely to brag? I genuinely don't get it.

If I wasn't so emotionally invested in this team, I wouldn't even care anymore. I am so beyond tired of thinking about this day after day after day. It's exhausting.

Realistically how much longer can this go on? Another month? Opening Day? Until all of us are in nursing homes?

I just hope they don't get rid of the $1 hot dog Wednesday's any time soon. I take advantage of those as much as I possibly can.

I think this Padres rumor is Lozano's way of trying to squeeze more money out of the Sox. Admittedly it's hard to comment on this topic since we don't know what the Sox are offering and what Machado's side wants. But at the end of the day, it's all a moot point if the Sox end up signing him which I think there's still a good possibility of happening. It's just becoming increasingly hard for me to stay patient.

Hypothetically, let's say the 8 year/$250MM offer is in fact what the Sox are offering. And let's say Machado's side wants $280MM. Is saving $30MM really worth the risk of him potentially not signing here? Obviously it's a different story if Lozano's asking price is ridiculous, but I'm more inclined to just give the guy what he wants if his demands aren't insane. The Sox NEED Machado. He doesn't need the Sox.

If it boils down to it, yes I would rather give him what he wants even if it meant overpaying than not getting him. Maybe waiting it out is the best strategy but I feel like that opens up the possibility of another team swiping him from underneath us.

Not giving him what he wanted weeks ago to get the deal done when it seemed like no one else was seriously interested in him. Now they've waited for such a long time that other teams are entering the fold again. I get not wanting to overpay but I think Hahn overplayed his hand.

This is what I feared. Allowing other teams to get in the mix because the Sox were sitting on their hands for so long.

Like I said the other day, the only advantage San Diego has over Chicago is the weather. Illinois has a lower tax rate than California, the Sox play in a much easier division than the Padres, and the Sox have some of his best friends on this team. If the money is relatively equal, I see no reason why he would choose them over us.

Danny Valencia makes a lot of sense.

If they added those 4, I would be dancing in the streets. That team could potentially win the division.

I think Hawk is one of those things that people will miss more and more as time goes on. Right now some are happy he's gone because they're sick of him, but I think they'll begin to miss him at some point. Benetti is fine for what he is but Hawk is a whole different breed of announcer that we don't see anymore.

Heyman follows this guy FWIW.

I miss him dearly. I'll take last season's version of him over Benetti anyday.
