Sox Sign Kelvin Herrera; 2 years/$18 mil, 3rd yr club option; Clarkin DFA
I trolled him on Twitter a couple years ago when he was on the Royals. He responded and then we've tweeted each other a couple times back and forth since then. It's pretty cool when players interact with fans.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
These MLB Network guys are trashing the Sox left and right. I hope Hahn proves all these guys wrong.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
8/280 for Machado actually seems like a solid deal for the Sox. That's only 35 million a year and the Sox could probably frontload it a bit.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Chris Russo and the guy he's interviewing completely shitted on the Sox and said they won't get Harper or Machado.

Is anyone else embarrassed and somewhat worried about the lengths White Sox going to get Machado?
But would they give him his own area in the clubhouse where he could cheat on his wife?

Sox Sign Jon Jay; 1 year/$4 mil, Charlie Tilson DFA'd
This thread is absolute insanity.

If we're going all-in on the friends and family route to recruit Machado, Yasmani Grandal and Adam Jones make sense to varying degrees but it seems unlikely that the Sox will pursue either of them.

Yeah, I'm thinking it'll be Yolmer, Engel, and McCann although I'd actually prefer if it were Rondon, Leury, and McCann instead. Thanks.

Couple questions for you guys: 1. If they sign Machado, where will Moncada most likely hit in the lineup? 2. If they sign Machado, what will the bench look like?

The motivation behind this signing isn't even about how Jay performs on the field. He's just another asset the Sox can use to help recruit Machado. That being said, he's better than Engel so it's a win/win for me.

Isn't Delmonico close with Machado as well? They might keep him around just for that reason.

Please tell me you're trolling...

I really think it's almost over and the end result will be good. This is the sort of move the Sox would make if they knew Machado would sign here if they did it. I'm feeling really confident right now.

Better yet, get Manny now and then go hard after Harper when Boras realizes the Sox are the only team seriously interested in him. ??

Has Jay signed with the Sox yet or is it just a rumor?

If they don't get Machado, all these moves will look so foolish but at least they tried.

Still waiting for them to spend "stupid money" like they said they would.

I've never heard about this, but wow, that would be my absolute dream scenario.

I think it'd probably be closer to 80 million/year (~35 million for Machado and ~45 for Harper), which of course is a lot of money to commit to just 2 players. However, it's feasible if the Sox are willing to increase payroll significantly and also because the Sox will have several players making league minimum or close to it for the foreseeable future. The idea of adding 2 superstar hitters in their primes to the middle of the lineup is just so appealing to me. But it's probably not going to happen and I'd be more than happy with just Machado.
