  1. It doesn't. They'd be better off avoiding Harper completely and just signing Adam Ottavino and Kelvin Herrera to beef up their bullpen.
  2. Yeah, nobody is going to take Russell given all his baggage. So it'd probably be Happ and Almora along with Heyward, which would subtract their starting CF and a quality utility guy who is young, cheap, and provides decent production at a variety of positions. And that doesn't even include that fact that they would have to include one of their better prospects as well. It's just not worth it for them IMO but it's a moot point because it won't happen anyway.
  3. It's not going to happen anyway, but would Harper even make the Cubs better in this scenario? Getting rid of Heyward would be good for them, but they'd probably have to include at least 2 of Happ/Schwarber/Almora/Contreras and probably a pitching prospect like Alzolay as well to make it happen. Harper is obviously a stud, but they'd be creating more holes while filling one.
  4. Do you really think they'll get both? At this point I'd be ecstatic if they just got one.
  5. If the Dodgers are out, who is even a possibility other than the Sox?
  6. I didn't even think about it but Bob is right in that respect. The Dodgers are extremely left handed heavy now, especially after trading Puig and Kemp. Pollock probably is the better fit for them right now and he would cost only a fraction of Harper.
  7. It's Nightengale, but...
  8. It'd be annoying for the Indians to get several good prospects for Kluber, but I could live with it if Harper came to the Sox.
  9. Harper is just trolling us at this point
  10. It doesn't, but they're obviously in on Machado. I just can't see the Sox winning a bidding war against them or even the Phillies. It sucks.
  11. I just can't see the Sox outbidding both the Phillies and Yankees, especially if Harper is off the board. This is the worst case scenario.
  12. Another week and a half of torture at the very least. Smh.
  13. I would give my right nut for Machado to sign with the Sox.
  14. Hypothetically, let's say either one of these guys are close to signing with another team. Do you think their agent would circle back to Hahn and see if he can beat that offer? I'm not really sure how the negotiation process works in regards to contracts of this magnitude.
  15. That 8/300 figure is just pulling numbers out of nowhere, I have no idea what their offer is. My point is that the Sox need to take whatever the Yankees are willing to do and beat it significantly.
  16. If the Yankees are offering 8 years, the Sox need to offer 10. If they're offering 300 million, the Sox need to offer 350. The Sox need to beat them in both aspects.
  17. I remember I wanted Cespedes so badly lol
  18. If the Yankees go 8 years, the Sox need to go 10.
