  1. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Good. I don't want a realistic shot for years. Stock up on first round picks for a few years, draft a good starter, develop Rodon/Fulmer and the starting prospects we get in all these trades, and we'll be fine. I'm more than fine to wait until 2019 or 2020 to be legitimate contenders. I can endure a few seasons of losing and development for the potential reward. It's a hell of a lot better than constant "going for it" seasons that end up with a team that can't even reach .500. +1 This post hit the nail on the head.
  2. Moncada/Benintendi/Urias are musts to any rebuilding effort. If you can't get those 3 even with Sale and Q going the other way, then the Sox should look elsewhere like Texas or Houston.
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:20 AM) I didn't know that Sale was on the Tigers I was going to post the exact same thing haha.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:23 PM) I'd like to get at least one bad ass super front line young starting pitcher for sale / q Otherwise, I'd be stoked with all that s*** coming back Agreed. The Sox need to get at least 1 top of the line starting pitcher if they're moving both Sale and Q.
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) One of these is not like the others. Give me a f***ing break. Look at the stats. They're ugly. Very ugly.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) Worst overall player on the Sox, good thing he's playing every day. No, that title belongs to Garcia, Navarro, or Abreu.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Why isn't Omar N. Getting more playing time? Navarro is simply horrible Why doesn't Saladino get more playing time? Because Robin is an idiot.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:35 PM) Surprised nothing has been said either way. Usually the beat guys have something if it's an injury in short order. Yep...which is why I think he was part of a trade. Information would have been made available by now if it was just an injury.
  9. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:28 PM) That Neil Walker guy is pretty good ...and Reyes is trash. Lawrie could easily play 3rd base for them.
  10. The Mets make sense for Lawrie.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 05:10 PM) This is such a tired accusation of every Cuban player at this point. Every. Single. One. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) Was just going to write that. That is so ridiculous. I'm disappointed in Abreu, but the guy has been a class act since he's been here and tried his all on a decent contract. Grow up, it's just baseball. I like Abreu as a person. I really do. I like him as a ball player too. But 29 year olds typically don't break down as quickly as he has. That's why I'm skeptical regarding his true age.
  12. I want Abreu gone ASAP. I think he's older than he says he is and it's obvious that he's already breaking down physically. The Sox need to trade him before he turns into Avisail Garcia Jr.
  13. Am I the only one that thinks that the Sox could get more for Sale and Q if they traded them right now as opposed to in the offseason? There are several teams out there that think they're one ace away from being able to win it all THIS YEAR. That sense of urgency doesn't really exist in the offseason.
  14. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) I know it's sacrilege to suggest trading Sale but the Sox should at least listen to teams this offseason and see if some team can blow them away with an offer. I think Sale would bring back more than Q and the Sox have Q under contract for one more year than Sale. There's an argument to be made that if the Sox can get a haul for Sale, they can be contending again by no later than the 2018 season. On a personal note, fireball pitchers always scare me too. Sooner or later they seem to get injured and personally Q seems like a safer bet to avoid that type of injury. If the Sox can get a combo of 5-6 mlb ready players and or high level prospects for Sale, it may solve a lot of their problems. Sale is hardly a fireball pitcher. He tops out at 95 or 96 these days.
  15. I don't remember if it's 2018 or 2019, but one of those years supposedly has a stacked free agent class. In an ideal world, I'd like the Sox to trade everyone off now, and sign a superstar in 2-3 years when all the guys they'll acquire from these trades now and/or the draft are ready to make an impact at the big league level. If Hahn plays his cards right, this team could be very good in 2 or 3 years.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) Sale to LAD for: Urias, De Leon, Seager, Holmes, Bellinger, and Pederson. Q to TEX for: Profar, Brinson, and Tate That's what I'm asking for if I'm in Hahn's seat. Too much for Sale, too little for Q IMO.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) For the sake of the rumor mill, it would be nice if Dave would drop some team names and players just so we have something to nibble on while we wait for the deadline. Agreed. It's kind of annoying. Why post that they're interesting in selling if you're not posting the specifics?
  18. Seager and Urias for Quintana? I'd do it, the Dodgers probably wouldn't.
  19. 1-5 road trip. Season over.
  20. Abreu is so washed up it isn't even funny.
  21. Here comes the black hole with 2 guys on base. I know how this AB will end.
  22. Quintana doesn't look particularly sharp today.
