  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) The motivated thing was just for a little extra motivation. You always hear about how facing your old team is added incentive. I think he's a professional and being out on the field to earn your money is motivation enough . Upton's and Cespede's best years might be behind them too. Who knows ? Yes I'd rather have one of them but really you would actually be upset at getting Gordon ? I'd be thrilled that the Sox actually got one of them at all. That's a fair point...as I'd rather have Gordon over nothing, but he certainly isn't my first choice. I'd be much happier with Cespedes or Upton.
  2. I really don't see how Gordon would be that motivated regardless of where he signs. He's already won a World Series title and got a huge contract...what else is that important to him at this point? Unless he's a true competitor, I think his best years are behind him.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) I am not a huge Gordon fan but isnt defense a HUGE need for the Sox? Yes...but he's not worth giving a 4 or 5 year deal and a draft pick for IMO.
  4. All I know is that I don't want Gordon anywhere close to a Sox uniform. Yeah, he's solid defensively, but he's also the oldest and worst hitter out of the elite outfielder group...not to mention that he has a QO attached too.
  5. It'd be nice to see Gordon go to KC and then Upton or Cespedes can come to the Sox right afterwards.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 20, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) A little too overly optimistic. I think you're gonna be disappointed. I'm not expecting him to put up those numbers I listed but I'd be ecstatic if he did. We'll see I guess.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 20, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) hahahahhahahhahha pass the blunt I'm just trying to be optimistic.
  8. .315/14/75/.350 with 20 stolen bases.
  9. The Bears f***ing suck.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 09:35 PM) I also think Gordon goes first, but there's no chance it's with the Cubs. They are done with big free agents. Agreed. If they do go after any more free agents, it'd be a low end pitcher or two IMO.
  11. Segura is so bad...the only thing going for him is his age. I had him on my fantasy team at one point and he did literally nothing for me the entire time I had him. Thank god I found someone to trade him to.
  12. Why would the Sox even consider Segura if Anderson is the future SS? Unless one of them is willing to make a position change, I don't see a deal for him happening.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) Pretty bad loss. They had them several times and Detroit was awful at the line. Good homestand but it could have been clean. It's not over yet!!! Bring in Bairstow to hit the tying three pointer!!!
  14. This is a crazy game. I wanted to take a shower after the first overtime but I can't miss the ending now.
  15. Like many other people have said over the past few days, Hahn will have to get creative in regards to payroll if he wants to go and get one of the big guns, but I'm confident that he'll be able to find a way to do it. Having LaRoche and Danks coming off the books after 2016 really helps too.
  16. I still have a hunch that the Sox will get either Cespedes or Upton. We'll see.
  17. I want Cespedes on the Sox so badly!
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) He is 29, you are acting like he is in his mid 30s. The guy has thrown an easy high 90s since he has been on the organization, just took a very team friendly contract, and you don't like it because he -might- fall off because of an unproven(by your own admission) fall off age. That is just strange If he's still hitting the high 90's and dominating when he's 32 at the end of this new extension, I won't be afraid to eat my words. I just don't see it happening, especially because he's had TJ surgery recently.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) I don't really understand your reasoning though, I never really read anything that indicates power pitchers fall off at age 29 It's not scientifically proven or anything like that, but isn't it fair to say that a pitchers velocity "falls off" as they age? Jones' main asset is his ability to light up the radar gun and I just don't know how effective he'll be in a few years when he's only hitting 93 or 94 instead of 98 and 99 like he is now.
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) My favorite kinds of posts. Disliking a deal with no sort of explanation why. I explained why I disliked it. I guess $8 million or so over 3 years isn't too bad, but I'd rather have seen that money go towards an outfielder.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) Hahahahaha, how could you possibly not like locking up a guy who can be an elite reliever when healthy to a 3 year deal (that buys out one FA year) at an AAV of $2.67M, with additional options years??? He very well may have beat those totals in arbitration next year if he is healthy this season. GREAT, SMART MOVE. Good work, Rick. He's already 29. It seems like power relievers like him decline around that age, or at least lose some of their velocity/pure stuff. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see Jones being as good as he was during the duration of this contract.
  22. I don't like this signing.
  23. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Gotta hit Abreu 3rd. He figures to hit at least 30 pts higher than Frazier, he should get the extra ab's. Frazier is the perfect 5 hole bat imo Assuming the Sox don't get another power bat, I like the idea of having Abreu protect Frazier because then Frazier would get better pitches to hit as opposed to if he was hitting in front of LaRoche/Avi/Melky/Etc.
  24. Am I the only one that thinks it would be a better idea to have Frazier hit 3rd in the order in front of Abreu?
