I like the idea of signing Heyward to an 8 year deal with an opt out after year 4, as he'd clearly test the market again at that point. The Sox would only be on the hook for his age 26-30 seasons, which would most likely be the prime of his career. Can't go wrong there IMO.

Rodriguez pitched last year and is arby eligible and should bounce back and forth between Oakland and AAA in the bullpen. *CarGo and Smith were traded (with Huston Street) to Colorado for Matt Holliday in 2008. *Holliday was traded in 2009 for Clayton Mortensen, Shane Peterson, and Brett Wallace. *Wallace was traded for Michael Taylor, who was traded for Jake Sanchez. Sanchez is still in the A's minor league system. So right now in 2015 the A's can trace back 6 players currently with the team back to the Mark Mulder trade 11 years ago. Again, injuries are a risk with any MLB pitcher, not just Sale. You're grasping at straws if that's the only reason why you think he should be traded.

Lawrie would be an upgrade at 3rd base if he repeats his production from last year, and that was playing half his games at the Coliseum. Hahn should be all over him.

Sale does seem to get fatigued towards the end of each season, but I think that's just because he's tired as opposed to being injured. Like Jose said, one of his elbow injuries came on the heels of one of the worst managerial decisions I've ever seen and the other one came off of his 8 start streak of 10 of more K's when he clearly was giving it everything he had as well.

I hate seeing the comments that say the Sox should trade Sale because of his "injury concerns". How is he that different from any other pitcher? Yeah, he has a funky motion, but he's so tall and lanky that I don't think it's as bad for his elbow/arm/shoulder as people make it out to be. People have said that he's a TJ surgery waiting to happen since the day he was drafted, and nothing significant has happened to him yet. Knock on wood that nothing ever does.
