why not go for Brett lawrie?
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 07:23 AM) What does this even mean? Its not like the sox are a disruptive bad clubhouse I was referring to poor decision-making that Sox players usually have on the field (terrible baserunning, low baseball IQ, etc)

why not go for Brett lawrie?
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 07:09 AM) Lawrie has a history of negativity and poor decision-making: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2012/5/16/3...jays-throws-bat http://nesn.com/2013/05/brett-lawries-dele...al-follow-up-2/ http://www.torontosun.com/2013/05/27/blue-...tude-adjustment http://www.royalsreview.com/2015/4/20/8455...ace-to-baseball http://tinyurl.com/oa8dfy7 http://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/...p;sub=102125185 If this is truly the case, then he'd fit in with the Sox just fine.

why not go for Brett lawrie?
QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:15 AM) Trading for Lawrie and signing Hwang would give some nice infield options too. Can have Lawrie slide to 2B. What would happen to Sanchez and Micah Johnson in this scenario? Would they be traded?

Rule 5 Draft
The great Balbino! I want the Sox to pick him up just so I can call him that on a regular basis.

why not go for Brett lawrie?
Is Lawrie known as being a decent defender? If he could hit .250 with 20 homers and play decent defense, I'd be all for acquiring him. He'd be a major upgrade over Gillaspie/Saladino/Olt.

why not go for Brett lawrie?
The problem with a Lawrie/Saladino/Sanchez/Abreu infield is that there is very little power there besides Abreu. I don't see Sanchez and Saladino hitting over 10 homers each and Lawrie isn't known for his power either. I guess I'd be ok with that group if they all hit for high averages and played sparkling defense, but I don't see that as being realistic.

why not go for Brett lawrie?
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) If Cinci's price is indeed through the roof, and I believe it is, then I hope the Sox pull something off for Lawrie. The Sox farm is not in good enough shape yet to pull off a trade for a player that had the second half Frazier had. Forget Frazier, trade for Lawrie and then find a SS. What kind of SS would you want the Sox to get if they did indeed acquire Lawrie? Would you prefer the Sox to get a guy on a long term deal (like Ian Desmond), or a 1 year stopgap (Asdrubal Cabrera, maybe even Alexei)?

I'd prefer Lawrie to Frazier to be honest. Sure, Frazier has more power and is a much better overall player now, but he would require much more in a trade than Lawrie would and he's also quite a bit older as well.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 12:07 AM) Nothing would make me happier then to see the Tigers spend $100+ million on a guy like Zimmermann when they're clearly not good enough to win the division. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 06:25 AM) As a Sox fan, I feel this would be a wise move for Detroit. Go right ahead and tie up 100M+ in another contract that could become another albatross like Verlander's in a few years. Assuming Zimmermann gets the speculated 6 years. I think Zimmermann could hold his value for another 3 or 4 years but not 6. Go for it Tigers! Great minds think alike.

Abreu got married (?)
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) Haha, and your point is... Nothing, I was just curious because I thought I remembered him having a son.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) I hear that Marcus Stroman kid is pretty good. I don't think it's fair for him to have to be the ace of that staff quite yet. He's still super young and coming off of an injury plagued season.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 27, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) The Jays now have their very own John Danks, for less money. I was thinking the exact same thing. If they blew $36 million on Happ, why didn't they try to save the money and then go after Price? Yes, I realize that $36 and $200+ million are very different contracts, but the Jays already have enough #4-#5 starter types. They need an ace.

White Sox still deciding on what to do
^^^ I could live with that, although the Avi trade really doesn't make any sense from the Sox perspective. They don't need another lefty pitcher, especially one coming off TJ surgery.

Is Assdribble really that much better than Alexei?
-
Viciedo going to Japan??
Watch him go over there and hit .300 with 30+ homers.

White Sox sign Alex Avila
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Well, on Thanksgiving I'm thankful that I don't have to watch Soto's throws back to the pitcher any more. Hahahahahaha I hated how he always fell forward and rubbed his hands in the dirt after he threw the ball back. It was so freaking annoying.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 27, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) I'm not sure he's available but I'm sure they'd want Anderson to start the deal. I'm probably in the minority, but I'd give up Anderson + Adams/Danish/etc for Longo. Then I'd sign Ian Desmond to play short.

If the Sox can get Longoria without giving up Sale, Q, or Rodon, I'd be all for it.

Sox to go trade route possibly
QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Lawrie isn't good though. He's better than Saladino IMO.

why not go for Brett lawrie?
This is a guy that the Sox should ABSOLUTELY go after. Even if he had an identical season in 2016 as he did last year, he'd be way better than any 3rd baseman the Sox currently have. Not to mention that he's only 26 years old.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) What do you guys think it would take to get Lawrie? I bet Oakland would accept a package of Danish/Beck/Saladino for him.
