White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
I would hate to see the Sox waste prospects for Castro. He really isn't any better than Flowers honestly.

Hahn says another catcher is ready to be added.
D.I.O.N.E.R. N.A.V.A.R.R.O. is my guess.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
Avila/whoever else they get could simply be a placeholder for a bigger addition that the Sox will trade for like someone said above.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:43 PM) That is beyond awful for the Sox. How so? Sanchez and Bird become the catcher and first baseman of the future with Abreu sliding over to the DH spot. Jagielo is a little bit of a lottery ticket, but he is still pretty young and has some pop at a premium position.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Obviously a huge trade involving Gary Sanchez and Greg Bird is in the works. That's actually a pretty interesting proposal. Would a Q for Sanchez, Bird, and Jagielo trade be fair for both teams?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) There's like what...2 of those around? Yes...but I still want one.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) I would like Buster Posey. Me too haha. All I want is a catcher that can throw out a good percentage of would be base stealers and hit above .250 with some decent pop.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
Now that I look at his stats, I really want Peter O'Brien. He has major power at the catcher position.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
Navarro is a switch hitter, right? A guy that hasn't been named that I'd like is Peter O'Brien of the Diamondbacks. He's still super young and was a top prospect at one point. I don't know if he's available though.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) Rosario would not be an upgrade. He is s***. He'd be an upgrade offensively at the very least.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) People on here look waaaaaay to into the whole Flowers is his personal catcher thing. Sale will be fine. Honestly, they'll probably bring in a right handed hitting, defensive first catcher for cheap to be his backup. Cheaper than what Flowers would make it should say. This. Sale is elite and is quite possibly the best pitcher in the American League. He will succeed and thrive no matter who is catching him.

I see Navarro or Rosario as the most likely replacement for Flowers. Either one would be an upgrade. I'm so happy right now.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
Getting rid of Turner so quickly surprises me though. He never had a chance to work with Coop.

Bacon Going Home
He was terrible, but I liked him in a weird sort of way. I hope he resurrects his career in Atlanta.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) Gordon Beckham- Braves 1.25 mil WHAT???? Someone signed him for actual money? I guess he'd be good as a defensive oriented utility man, but he can't hit at all.

David Price $217mm/7 years
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) Greinke is 32. Price will be 33 at the time of his opt out. The difference is one whole year I could've sworn that Greinke was 30. My bad.
-
David Price $217mm/7 years
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) Are you not seeing Greinke do the same thing? These tv deals are making the contracts bloat, if Price continues to be as good as he has been(playoffs exluded), then i see no reason why Price shouldnt explore his options. Greinke is much younger when he opted out than Price will be, not to mention that he also had a career year as well right before he had the choice to opt out. Who knows how good Price will be the year before he can opt out, and even if he is as good as Greinke was this past season, he's going to be 33 ish.
-
David Price $217mm/7 years
Why would Price opt out after 3 years? It's highly unlikely that he'd get a higher AAV than this new deal after those 3 years when he's 33 and most likely on the decline. But then again, these contracts teams are handing out are crazy so he probably will get more next time around.

I would've liked Aoki on the Sox, but there wouldn't have been any room for him unless Avi was traded or Melky moved to the DH spot.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Because everyone was throwing everything into that thread and I guess people were complaining about have to read through it I would prefer to read everything in one place but that could just be me. It's not a big deal, I was just wondering how it got closed originally. I enjoyed reading the posts there.

Is there a way for one of the mods to unlock the offseason plan thread? I feel like all these proposals would be better in one place. I'm not quite sure why that thread was locked anyway.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Eaton Heyward Abreu Arenado Melky TFT Avila Sanchez Saladino Bench-Flowers, MJ, LaSuck, Shuck Rotation- Sale, Rodon, Johnson, Danks, Lackey? I dunno, this rotation could be pretty bad without Q. Besides Q, who else would need to be sent to the Rockies for Arenado? Montas?

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) As long as the Sox keep doing a good job of scouting and developing pitching, I could honestly care less. Let em both go to FA and cash in, as long as its another team paying the obscene price. You make it sound like replacing Sale and Q would be easy. Those guys are 2 of the best pitchers in the AL. I don't disagree that the Sox are good at developing pitching, but it's not like they'll find another Sale or Q off of the scrap heap.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 05:46 PM) 1000% agree. The Sox cannot afford to trade such cheap pitching and no team will offer up full value so I expect Sale and Q to fulfill their contracts. That makes me a happy Sox fan. The big question I'm wondering is if they'll stay on the Sox after those deals are over.
