Jason Castro
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) Like someone said, Trayce Thompson + would be nice. But that's probly pretty homer. I'd give up Thompson/Beck/Sanchez/one low level prospect. No more than that.

Nate Jones agrees to 1yr $660k
QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) I am a big Nate Jones fan and I would loooooove to see him come back healthy and pitch well. Same here. He'd make the bullpen that much better.

Sox Avoid Arbitration with Javy Guerra
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) Noesi 1.95 mil I would have given him less money than Guerra FWIW.

Sox Avoid Arbitration with Javy Guerra
QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Likely no with Jennings and Duke in the fold. Is Jennings better than Surkamp? I've never seen Jennings pitch.

Brian Anderson..heeee's baaaack...heeee's gone
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) And you refer to yourself in the third person. I love it! Is that the real Brian Anderson? Or just some guy pretending to be him?

Konerko's number to be retired
I definitely want to go to this game.

Sox Avoid Arbitration with Javy Guerra
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) I like it, his arb was projected to be $1.3 mil. He didn't do bad last year, we could do worse with $900K. Robertson, Petricka, Duke, Putnam, Webb, Guerra, Jennings/Garcia. Guerra bumps out Cleto. What about Eric Surkamp? Does he not make the team?
-
Sox Avoid Arbitration with Javy Guerra
I like this deal. 900K isn't a ton of money, and Guerra is a solid reliever. I'm not sure what role he'll have on the team though. Maybe a 6th-7th inning guy along with Putnam?

Brian Anderson..heeee's baaaack...heeee's gone
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 06:07 AM) And I'm really surprised they didn't catch on to that. Keep in mind that I'm pretty new to this forum. I'll try to remember all the "lingo" around here.

Brian Anderson..heeee's baaaack...heeee's gone
I'm not sure why everyone loves this signing. He was drafted by the Sox, and was part of the World Series team, but he's toast now. Leury Garcia is a better hitter than him. It's a nice story and everything, but there's no chance he makes the roster unless a ton of guys get injured.

Brian Anderson..heeee's baaaack...heeee's gone
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) And when Eaton goes down with the inevitable leg injury a few months in who exactly will be taking his spot in CF? J.B. Shuck? Yeah, not so much, the job will go to the elite defender playing with renewed vigor and is well accustomed with White Sox culture. This is a brilliant move. I just don't see it. Sure, Anderson is a good defender. The problem is that he can't hit worth sh!t. Essentially, he is the right handed version of Jordan Danks.

Brian Anderson..heeee's baaaack...heeee's gone
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Starting centerfielder by June. Have you ever heard of a guy named Adam Eaton? Anderson won't be anything more than a 4th outfielder and that's if he even makes the team (which is unlikely).

Adam Dunn is retiring
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 05:52 AM) I would think that putting up the worst season in the history of the sport should automatically exclude one from all HOF talk I agree with this. Maybe it's because his first year with the Sox was horrifically awful, but I never liked Dunn. Not one bit.

If you could acquire one last player to complete the offseason...
I'd love Scherzer or Shields too, but it's just not realistic. I didn't think of Van Slyke. Isn't he similar to Viciedo though?
-
If you could acquire one last player to complete the offseason...
I'd have to say Ryan Vogelsong. He's a right handed starter that can eat up innings. If you were in Rick Hahn's shoes, who would you want to get to complete the offseason? Looking forward to seeing y'all's opinion. Thanks, Mike

Alexi Ogando
The Sox should at least throw a bid out there for him. He's a nice arm to have solely for depth if nothing else. It's a low risk/high reward type of move.

Would you have done things different?
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jan 6, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) This has been a perfect offseason but I might have signed Andrew Miller over David Robertson because he fits that mold of being a traditional closer with the high velocity more than Roberston who tops out at 94. Miller has never been the "closer" on any team he's ever been on. I wouldn't shell out $30 Million+ for a good reliever that might not be able to close games.

Hello to the new Soxtalk posters!
I'm a newer member on here, but this forum is quickly becoming one of my favorites. There seems to be a ton of nice people here and they're all Sox fans. What could be better?

Would you have done things different?
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) Would anyone sign Lindstrom again? If it was a Minor League deal based heavily on incentives, then yes.

WhiteSox and Emilio Bonifacio agree to one year, $4 million contr
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) If everything goes according to plan, Bonifacio will be a high-playing time platoon bench player doing the Zobrist thing -- 2B, 3B, OF. That said, there's a real chance that Sanchez/Johnson are awful, and Bonifacio gets a lot of starts. It's not plan A, but it's a better outcome than that time going to Leury or Saladino. 100% agree. I'm not completely sold on Sanchez/Johnson being solid players. Bonifacio gives the Sox so much more flexibility. He's like Leury Garcia but 10X better.

White Sox holding hitters mini-camp
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) And the people who should be there are not there... brilliant. Who should have been there?

Swish, he's balling ... Rick Hahn is so awesome. Seriously, Hahn has given us Sox fans everything we could've wanted this offseason and more. Even if the Sox have a disappointing season, you can't blame it on Hahn. He's done what everyone wanted him to do. Essentially, the Sox replaced Semien and Leury Garcia with Bonifacio, which is amazing.

Other Trade Options
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 3, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) A starter on a bad team or a contending team? Because I think the Sox could/will be a contending team, and I think he can definitely start here at 2B. Then what would happen to Johnson or Sanchez? Do they get traded?
-
Other Trade Options
Adam Rosales would be a nice fit. He wouldn't kill Sale if he was on the team.

Other Trade Options
I'd love to get either Zimmermann or Fister but I highly doubt that would come to fruition. That is, unless the Sox were prepared to give up Rodon or Anderson, which won't happen.
