Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
From the article: "Texas’ system is so deep that Walker will likely be ranked in the 13-to-25 range on that list, whereas he was in the 9-to-11 range on the Sox rundown, which is why we continue to encourage readers to focus on the FV rather than the ordinal ranking."

None of your responses indicate an understanding. If you want a different analogy, just look at the acquisitions of Grandal, Robert, Giolito, Moncada, or Jimenez.

You have missed the point entirely. Not surprising.

Well if any other teams were convinced Wheeler is on the verge of a breakout (you know teams with much better scouting than Chicago) how come nobody was willing to pony up more than $125M? Crickets. Because he sucks. Because nobody else wanted to pay this guy that much.

Who is forcing you to believe that? Who is even suggesting it?

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
My apology, I quoted you just for context. The question was meant for chitownsportsfan.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
Serious question: Given what Wheeler and Strausburg got, should the Sox offer Cole 8 years/$300M?

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
- Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
For those who might read the post above and think it is accurate, the link is actually to the entire thread, entitled "Fire Rizzo", in which constant posts were made from the beginning in 2010 and throughout every season since then, including this past season. Some Nats fans were livid and wanted Rizzo fired for failing to sign Prince Fielder. Some Nats fans were livid and wanted Rizzo fired for failing to re-sign Harper. Some Nats fans were livid and wanted Rizzo fired for failing to sign Greinke (who helped Arizona get back to the playo... oh wait, what?). Some Nats fans were livid and wanted Rizzo fired for failing to re-sign Jordan Zimmermann (who helped Detroit get back... no, wait, that's not it...). It will come as no surprise to some fans of all teams that many of those livid Nats fans were mostly the same people each time. Good thing for the majority of Nats fans that none of those livid Nats fans had anything to do with putting together the 2019 Nats team, or with deciding who the GM should be, for that matter.- Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
Are you saying paying Prince Fielder that much worked out well for Detroit and then Texas?- Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
Haven't spent much time over at wnff.net before this year, have you?: https://www.wnff.net/index.php?topic=20772.0- Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
This reaction reminds me of the reaction of some of the Nats fans when the Nats lost out to Detroit on signing Prince Fielder.- Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
Serious question: What would you have had the Sox do in this case?- Jimenez doesn’t want to DH until mid 30’s
I think you would find more players saying they will do what is best for the team by DHing at a young age if DHs got paid the same as OFs.- Moncada
- You're White Sox GM and can see a year and a half into the future....
Of course, that has always been the make-or-break question. But it’s not a question of whether they should, but when they should. After all, the initial question of this thread is based on timelines.- You're White Sox GM and can see a year and a half into the future....
The thing is, we can only speculate as to the effectiveness of bringing Robert and Madrigal up 1) now vs. 2) in August/Sept. vs. 3) beginning of next season vs. 4) late April/May next season. I personally don’t want the decision to bring them up to be based purely on speculation. Also, if you bring them up this season, you are banking on the idea that you will acquire 2 mid-rotation starters, a RF better than Jay, and a contending-caliber bullpen this coming offseason. You are also banking on both Rodon and Kopech both coming back and being effective for the majority of next season. Lot’s of IFs to count on to justify bringing them up this season.- Best Organizational Young Talent Since???
Though the late 80s/early 90s does not have the depth of the late 90s and current class, it has the best top end. I don't know if any other team has hit big on 4 1st rounders in a row like the Sox did with Black Jack ('87), Robin ('88) Frank ('89), and Alex Fernandez ('90). Add Jason Bere (36th round, '90), and you have what is probably the strongest top level of Sox farm system in Sox history.- Best Organizational Young Talent Since???
Why are you listing Aparicio's HRs and not his SBs?- Is anyone else embarrassed and somewhat worried about the lengths White Sox going to get Machado?
No.- Machado signs with Padres 10/300
No! That can’t be! - Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
