I'm not necessarily talking about his performance, although from what I remember it was more like getting by than owning. He looked scared and nervous, you could see it in his eyes and in the way he carried himself. I remember after one inning he almost tripped into the dugout. Anyway I'm not trying to say the kid isn't any good, I think he's going to be great. I just don't think it was the right time to call him up in terms of development. He should have been in the minors. If I'm not mistaken, Rauch was up with the Sox before that August call-up and, if I recall correctly, he didn't fare too well in 3 or 4 outings. I think that is what you are remembering bjmarte. Trust me though when I say he looked real good in late 2002.

"Toad"? Please help me out with who Toad is the nickname for... thanks! Just what I call Todd Ritchie

Article: Colon Would Provide Sox with Final Pie

JR: Too much so forget it!!!!! -
This was one of the better articles I've read. He has some really good points and I do think we have one of the better all around pitching staffs in baseball, maybe even top 10, but at worse, top 15. We definately have plenty of holes, but how many teams have 5 starters. All I can think of are the Angels, Yankees, and Braves. The Phillies are on the verge of it, causethey got a lot of young talent as well. I'm probably forgetting some, but we still have a solid staff and a really good pen. I definately think this team should compete for the central and they could definately win it. Its a whole lot different team then we had opening day last year. He's only right about our rotation if Garland and Wright are extremely successful this year. Our 4 and 5 starters aren't even set and Buehrle is the only starter on the White Sox that shows consistency. Garland and Wright are still too hot and cold from game-to-game to be considered even moderately consistent. The only reason why you can make an argument about us being in the Top 10-15 when it comes to SP is because SP is so thin throughout the League due to baseball expansion.
-
The Rangers aren't the only team with extremely questionable starting pitching . That was just an example that really stuck out in my head. And like chisoxfn said our rotation isnt as bad as everyone seems to think... Trust me..... if Garland and Wright don't have career years (not HOF worthy numbers for a season..... but a season better than any they have previously had), this rotation will be WORSE than what most people think it is sans Buehrle.

It's a good thing they put him back down because he looked like he was about to crap his pants the couple of times he pitched when he was up. Hopefully he'll be over that the next time he is up. They brought him up in August and he sat on the bench..... what..... like a month before JM finally let him start a game against the Twinkies. And, as predicted by myself and Guido while we were tailgating with RPS and HSC that Saturday, Rauch owned the Twins..... giving up only 2 runs (both HR's) in a White Sox winner. Rauch could be a dark horse in this seasons rotation depending on what he does in ST and if Biddle or Toad are available to start in the rotation.
-
Everything in the article makes sense but, obviously, the guy who wrote it has no idea who owns this team. A team that was serious about contending would pursue some of those moves, but JR only cares about the "bottom line."

Yep. We ain't getting NOBODY!!!!!

I'm not an OSU or Miami fan but I did watch most of the game. The pass interference call was AWFUL! No way that was pass interference. And since holding wasn't called on the play, let's not even start trying to equate "running-and-bumping," which occurs on every play, with a terrible call by an official that was in no position to make the call. The official that the play happened right in front of ruled it an incomplete pass. It's a shame the game ended the way it did. Once again, the calls went OSU's way (as they have all season [see the Michigan game]) and they're National Champs thanks, in part, to an official.
-
It didn't take MB long to adjust though. I remember watching a one-hitter he pitched against, I think it was, the A's in late 2001.

Buy yourself a case on RPS. When you see him, I'm sure he'll reimburse you the money you paid for it. Make sure it's the good stuff too..... none of that cheap s*** . Oh yeah..... Happy B-Day!

Whiney, Whiney British Singers.... Damn us wankers, and my metal music Europeans make the best music. Hey I got no problem with the bands from across the ocean, three bands I listen to all come from Sweden. For some reason the sweeds know how the f*** to make metal, how I likes it. :metal But they're still responsible for ABBA and Ace of Base :puke

You expected different cwsox? Michigan, unlike their friends from South Bend, showed heart and never gave up in a hard fought victory. One thing you can almost bank on when cheering on the Wolverines in College Bowl Games is that they won't roll over and die [COUGH!..... Notre Dame..... COUGH!] like some college teams..... isn't that right RPS????? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D FYI cwsox..... I called RPS at home and asked him to sing Notre Dames fight song for me and all I got was an earful of profanity from him and Guido. I never knew Notre Dame fans were such poor LOSERS!!!!! WOO HOO! WAY TO GO NC STATE!!!!!
-
OH s***!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D But seriously..... who was telling all the Notre Dame fans that they'd choke like ShamME and the sCrUBS in their Bowl Game since, like, September? Oh Yeah..... ME!!!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA :headbang :headbang NOTRE DAME SUCKS!!!!!

So you'll go with the guy who struggled for 2 seasons to avg .100 in April and May, dated a teammates ex-wife, went sans cleats during a game and changed to his running shoes to, for lack of a better word, "protest" his benching by JM..... man..... I could go on but if you'll take a stroke like K-layton over Jose because of one Valentin indiscretion, then have at him. You and K-layton should be snug as two bugs in a rug living in the cellar.
-
Konerko has the numbers for you to forgive him, but Valentin does not? What the f*** are you smoking? Konerko - .303 27 104 Valentin - .248 25 75 Valentin hit 2 less homers all year, had 29 fewer RBI and a much worse batting average(will get back to that later)....the power numbers alone state it for me....Valentin is doing something that only a few SS's in the majors could do....play SS and hit 25 homers....tell me, how many others can do that(without striking out 188 times)...and your answer would be a very small number....after that, tell me how many could make some of the plays that Jose does(because he does make some plays that only a few could dream of making, and that group includes Royce)? He makes many, many errors. Regardless, Valentin had much less playing time than Konerko did....Jose played in 135 games, Konerko in 151 games...a 16 game difference...I'm sure Jose could have done a little damage in 16 games. Here's a little something to chew on Konerko's stats w/ RISP - .303 9 80 Valentin's stats w/RISP - .351 4 49 Jose hit 48 points higher with RISP, or in other words, when it really mattered, and he drove in over half the runs Konerko did with RISP batting from either the #2 spot or the #6 spot oir the #7 spot....however, he never really started any rallies...that's why he's not a leadoff hitter....when leading off an inning, he hit .179....with 1 or 2 outs and no one on, he hit .233, and .209 overall with no one on. However, he kept rallies going, which is the perfect reason for him to be hitting #2....if Jimenez were to get on base, Jose could move him over. Regardless....Jose is the team leader....Konerko is not. There really is no difference to me....Jose does more for the team than show up in his stats...same with Konerko....Jose does more...he brings more intangibles to the game than Konerko does. You can think what you want to....it won't bother me. You just remember that when we win this year, a lot of credit should be given to Jose. Not all, but a lot. Don't forget that Valentin was also an AL leader in avg with RISP

Yeah. I used to go out on New Year's Eve but every place there's a party, the tix start at $100. Then you have to pay for food (usually), the bar prices are raised because EVERYBODY drinks a little more than they usually do (or should), and most places are so crowded that by 11, you can't move around anyway without it taking you 45 minutes to leave your friends, get to the bar, get served, pay for your 4 beers at a total of $60, walk back through the sea of people, only to get s*** from your friends about it taking you so long to get more beer that now they're sober. f*** that. I just do the house parties now.
-
So now you're high on Crede? What the f***? You said he would turn into a nothing earlier in the year. I'm beginning to learn that that's Roman for you.

I'm actually kind of partial to All-Star Baseball 2003. Some of the cool features are GM mode, management mode, and a full-season mode. AL and NL Cooperstown All-Star teams. And the coolest feature that this title offers, IMHO, is HR Derby and Batting Practice Mode's where you can take hack's at Classic Wrigley Field, Classic Yankee Stadium, The Polo Grounds, Classic Tigers Stadium, Forbes Field, and CandleStick among others. Unfortunately, Classic Comiskey is not offered on the 2003 title . Classic uniforms are also available as well as throwback jerseys. PS..... I e-mailed Acclaim, the makers of this title, earlier this year about including Classic Comiskey in the 2004 Title and they actually replied to me that Classic Comiskey is "in the works." YEAH BABY!

Some on this board think that Jack Black actually has musical talent. Good thing I wasn't watching that..... I'd have been pissed waiting to see what they were going to play only to see Jack Douchebag come out and scream his bulls***. PS..... Carson Daily looked more femme and prepped than that chick with the huge head that was in 8 Mile and that new wedding movie.

Like RPS said when we were talking last night..... "JB is 6' 6" and runs like he's 5' 8"," he's a good CF right now with above average fundamentals (things like range, hitting the cut-off man, working on getting better jumps on the ball, etc.), he's been in the minor league's for about 2 years now and will, most likely, start 2003 in AAA (how many prospects have gone to AAA and the ML's in less than 2 season's?), he acknowledges his shortcomings and is willing to do whatever it takes to become a better baseball player (said he wants to shorten his swing), he hits for power..... I can go on. If you have a hunch soxfan420, that's ok. I had a hunch the Ritchie would blow up in our faces last season but didn't have the stats at hand to prove otherwise till the season began. It's just that some on this board have seen him bat 4 times and are ready to write him off. If that's the case, there would be very few MLB players in the league today..... there aren't too many players that live up to the hype overnight. You have to give a guy like Borchard, who I think will be one of the premier OF's in the ML's by 2006, time to develop.
-
I always thought it was JESUS. Smoke another bowl soxfan420.
-
Why? Like I ask of Roman, what have you seen in a month to a month and a half of MLB play from Borchard to label him "a nothing?"
