Can you have made this anymore difficult? What a pain in the ass! :****

Agreed Chisoxfn..... I wouldn't like to not be able to watch the White Sox on TV. But remember, JR did pull the White Sox off of Channel 44 in the early 80's after he and Einhorn bought the team and, until Channel 32 (I think 32 carried the Sox games before Channel 9) picked up selected games a few years later, the only way to watch the White Sox was by subscribing to the ONTV Cable Company. Sorry to sidetrack there, but I think alot of White Sox fans, like all Hawk fans, would bad-mouth the owner for NOT showing home games on TV. But the difference between GS and "Dollar" Bill is..... you guessed it..... Championships. I know I, as a Sox fan, would forgive some owners bad marketing and fan relation decisions if it, ultimately, resulted in a Championship. And I never knew that you were on the Mark Cuban bandwagon like me! I've been saying to Guido for awhile that what this team and stadium needs is a young, fresh face making the decisions..... and as competitive as Cuban is just sitting watching the Mavericks, you could bet he'd be pursuing a Millwood or a Maddux or a Clemens or a Colon if he thought that person could help the team he owns and cheers for win. JR just sits, blames the fans, and counts his money

First off, I read most of the posts Second, I am comparing JR to Steinbrenner because the White Sox are the team I cheer for. I can care less about the Tribune Co or Jerry Coangelo because they don't own the White Sox..... and you can bet that if the Trib or Coangelo outbid JR for a player we were after I'd be comparing JR to them. Yes, paying a pitcher $8,000,000 a year for 4 seasons before he has even thrown one pitch in the ML's is stupid. Agreed. But, and the 2000 White Sox proved this, to be competitive in the offseason you have to be willing to spend some money...... whether wisely or, in this case, foolishly. Luck will only get you so far. Ownership and GM's separate the real contenders from the fakers. Yes..... from decade to decade, JR has occasionally spent some money. Belle was signed, IMHO, not because JR wanted to compete. Competing was secondary. JR really wanted to shove it up the ass of MLB owners for ending the '94 strike. He spent money on Wells..... can't disagree with you there. Trading for Ritchie did add salary but not the type of salary that a game-making pitcher would demand. JR and KW sold Ritchie as something, at least for the first half of 2001 and most of 2002, he was not. JR added a few million in salary instead of 6 or 7 million. Once again, the lesser of two evils. JR signed Konerko, Ordonez, and Thomas because he had to..... not doing so would have been Organizational suicide. JR knew this. This team averages probably around 12-15,000 a game on the weekdays. Cut that in half if JR lets all 3 of those guys go. Yeah..... both JR and Steinbrenner have spent money. But Steinbrenner has numerous WS Titles to go along with his sometimes foolish spending. JR and his thriftiness..... ZERO! IMHO, expansion has done more to hurt baseball and create parity in the league much more so than Steinbrenner has..... just an opinion though. To get the players you want, you have to outbid the other teams..... it's as simple as that. Yes, there are some classy players that take a cut in pay because of loyalty to the fans or the team when they could have gotten more to play elsewhere. But those players are few and far between. Nobody blamed Atlanta when they got Ortiz by, supposedly, outbidding KW and his three prospects deal. But everyone blames Steinbrenner because he's Steinbrenner and paying for players that he wants on his team is what he does. That's hypocritical. The only way MLB will "become competitive again and (for) salaries to stay within reason" is if you institute a salary cap. Plain and simple.

Just used 40 million as an example Cerb.

Well, I know that if a friend (or in this case a teammate) of mine was porking my ex-wife that that would bother me and maybe, just maybe, that knawing feeling would follow me to work..... especially if I had to look at the guy that was banging my ex at work for 8+ hours a day. But that's just me. Too bad Frank might not have been able to separate his work from what was going on in his life. P.S. This is the first I heard of K-layton having a relationship with Frank's ex. If it's true, and this is hard to believe, I respect K-layton even less.

How is spending money to hopefully contend foolish? Would JR be a fool if he dished out $40,000,000 to outbid the Yanks for Contreras' services? Everyone on this board would be thrilled that JR FINALLY spent some money..... hosts of others would post BS about how JR has finally committed himself to winning. And what if Contreras lives up to the hype? What if he is the second-coming of Pedro? Is Steinbrenner still the fool? Was signing him to that contract foolish then? Everyone on this board loves to trash the Yankees but not one, NOT ONE, wouldn't want Steinbrenner to own the White Sox. Did you see that coming?

JR's the "true joke."

That's because his bad moves have done more to worsen the team than his good moves have done to help it. Let me add to my last post that that is up to now before all the KW Lovers start in on me

Too bad we can't be "very strong... in... the system" when it comes to the MLB franchise

You're quoting ShamME Soso now?

You don't get it. I don't care what K-layton was brought in here for, if he's "going to the dish" with a bat in his hand, he's supposed to get on base..... either through a hit, BB, 2b, etc. Hell..... K-layton couldn't even get on when he'd K and the catcher dropped the ball on the third strike with nobody on. K-layton couldn't even "Dorn" his way onto the basepaths. Acquiring K-layton "to supply defense on a team stacked with offense" is a pretty sad argument even for the K-layton supporters and doesn't address the fact that the "stacked offense" became non-existent where K-layton was concerned..... until, of course, the second half of both 2001 and 2002 when it was too late.

You understand what I'm saying right? We trade for Colon, Vidro and Barret, and then if we succeed, we resign them, with the exception of maybe Barret, and we basically reap the benefits from there. If we won the pennant or even the World Series this year, we would reap from the benefits. We would become the team in Chicago again, our share prices would go up, attendance would increase....etc, etc etc. Then with all the money and what not coming in, JR could put about $10 million towards the renovations that will make the park look like it did from the picture on that website....you couldn't say anything bad about Comiskey Park or the Chicago White Sox organization anymore...period. We'd still have the farm system and we'd have a great major league team as well....we could form a dynasty....just say that and hear the nice ring it has...the Chicago White Sox dynasty....sounds nice, doesn't it? If the dynasty started, we could have a payroll of around $75 million within 2 years of its creation. But if it fails and the team is out of contention and doesn't make the playoffs, that's when White Flag part 3 or 4 or what not falls upon us....we rebuild and start over...the earliest we would start competing again would be 2005, but most likely around 2006 or 2007. That's what I'm saying....now or never. Let's do it I know what you're saying. However, JR has no commitment to winning. I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you, but White Sox fans have been saying what you're saying for years. And what would happen if Comiskey Park was packed for every game in 2003? Think back to what happened when Comiskey Park was packed for almost every game in 1993. That's right..... JR didn't lift a finger then when attendance wasn't an issue. We needed another starter to solidify the rotation for the playoffs and JR goes out and gets one of the lesser SP's available in Belcher who SUCKED once he put on a White Sox uniform. Attendance is only an issue now because JR pays it so much lip service..... making it out like it's our fault he won't go out and sign a Clemens, Maddux, or Colon. JR is just a cheap prick..... PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!!! All filling the park up will do is put money in his cheap ass pockets! f*** JR!!!!! :****
-
Randa'sa decent 3Bman....he hits for a higher average, around .280 or .300, can hit 10-20 bombs You can add 5 to 10 more bombs for "Smiley" if he hits in that bulls*** ballpark :pukeWrigley Field
-
JR's gonna do that (White Flag 2 or 3..... whatever the hell flag we're on) anyway so why will he take on Colon's contract when he'll get the same results (the Sox not going to the WS) anyway?
-
That's the point everyone's missing witesoxfan. Since the Sox are not going to get a Colon, Clemens, or Maddux for a number 1 or 2 starter, we have to settle for the next best thing..... and I think anyone on this board who would rather go with Ritchie over a Suppan or a JB would have their work cut out for them trying to sell Ritchie to the majority of Sox fans.
-
Why don't you say the same thing about K-layton?
-
Hey NUKE. Glad to hear you maybe finally getting a break and that everything is going so far so good. I don't have to tell you guys to remain vigilant..... you know those classless muslim f***s don't recognize our holidays the way we always seem to recognize theirs during times of war. Not much new here as you can see..... KW is still f***ing up the team and JR is still cheap as all hell. Wish we had something good to report back on the White Sox front. Stay safe. God bless. Happy Holidays to you and all the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. America..... love it or leave it.

I don't know. I just like to see myself thinking sometimes .

KW said, in a recent interview, that JM is committed to starting Jeff more often in 2003. JM feels he did Jeff a serious dis-service sitting him as often as he did in 2002.
-
Exactly. Buehrle could care less about the St. Louis minor league affiliates and whether they have talent or not.
-
Tell me you did NOT go there! :eek
-
He's right. Nothing else more to say really. Baseball ownership in this city is a joke..... has been for years. What Moronotti said isn't really anything you wouldn't hear from a Die-Hard Sox fan or a poster on this board. I know it isn't going to happen anytime soon, but I pray for the day JR sells this team. Until then, JR can go :**** himself.
-
That's saying alot too. Someone should tell Bova that all the banning and moderating isn't going to get him "Press Pass 1" for Lip, Labrum, or any of the other ass-lickers from WSI because if they did get that popular, you can GUARANTEE that JR will have that site shut-down..... unless they sellout and proclaim JR the greatest thing since white bread..... and I wouldn't put selling out past any of them.
-
I agree. I never believe a Wannstat (spelling, intentionally more or less) coached team can win in December and I watched the game, watched the kick, watched Carter, and said, that's it for 2002. Wannstedt blows goats. What an asshole. I'd love to watch him and Ricky Williams fall flat on their faces. "F" DAVE WANNSTEDT!!!!! :****
