I wasn't for trading Konerko for Ortiz, but Ortiz has been an above .500 pitcher for the last four seasons. And, according to the above posts, KW sat on a Ortiz for Liefer/Harris/Malone deal. Sitting on that deal for an above .500 pitcher the last four seasons when the team you GM needs starting pitching badly is unacceptable. The fact that Atlanta wasn't mentioned last night and now they have Ortiz proves that someone was skeptical of pulling the trigger on the above deal. Considering SF was looking to trim payroll, that only leaves one person..... KW!!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:

Take a look at WiteSoxFan's sig. Those two or three sentences sum up K-layton's attitude and personality PERFECTLY! "..... Just because the Brewers signed me..... doesn't mean we're automatically going to the WS..... but I'll break my neck trying (to get to the WS).....", or something to that effect. The guy's conceit knows no bounds.

I don't think anyone expected him to have a BA of .100 or lower for the first two months of 2001 and 2002. Well, if you looked at his stats, you could kind of expect it. He's typically a slow starter that has one amazing half and is going to catch everything hit to him. Myette is a bum, so we didn't give up anything special. Doesn't matter who we gave up. K-layton was problems from day 1 and brought nothing but trouble to this team. I'd be pissed that we acquired K-layton in 2001 if we gave up a roll of bat tape and a bag of sunflower seeds.

Well, according to some of the posts here, Almonte, Honel, Borchard, Rauch, Ring, Diaz, etc. were not the names being mentioned as the 3 reported prospects. Makes the 3 fringe IMHO.

Let's proclaim ourselves KW Supporters!!!!! Gimme a break! Reports last night from ESPN said Ortiz could have been had for 3 White Sox prospects..... fringe prospects at that..... not C Lee or PK. And still, KW couldn't get it done. I think SF, knowing they had to unload salary, figured, "Who's the most gullible SOB at these winter meetings?", and figured they'd take on the salary of a PK if KW was dumb enough to trade him. Once KW balked at trading Konerko (which he should have done), it was a "no deal." The Sox were probably further away from this deal than we all thought.

YOU ARE SEEING THE LIGHT, JASON!!! Cotts WILL be having a great baseball career barring major injury. He's the kind of pitcher who strengthens as a game (and season) progresses. That's why the A's parted ways with him. He won't ever see the black-and-white pinstripes IMHO. KW will deal him before that.

I get home from work and see hundreds of posts (literally) talking about Konerko being traded to SF for a package which includes Ortiz, posts talking about who can play 1B if Konerko is dealt, posts talking about boycotting Comiskey if Konerko is dealt, posts saying Konerko won't be dealt for Ortiz but C Lee and/or minor leaguers will be, posts saying we got Ortiz but doesn't say who we traded, etc. So let me ask..... WHAT THE f*** HAPPENED? Thank you. P.S. Trading Konerko would be one of the worst things KW could do as a GM.
